Newly Diagnosed with G3

Hello everyone I have recently been diagnosed with Grade 3 IDC that is Her+2 with lymph nodes that are enlarged or slightly affected, had MRI scan yesterday results this thursday got to go and have bone scan tuesday the 5th, and cardiology scan next friday, I am absolutely petrified that it has spread to other organs, they told me the chemo would mop up any stray cancer cells that may have travelled, they have'nt told me how big my lump is only that it is large, the onc told me that the plan of treatment is chemo with herceptin 6 sessions then a mastectomy then rad treatment then reconstructive surgery. I feel like I'm not on this planet at the moment its a bit like going through the motions eating drinking sleeping all on autopilot, any new pain or twinge I get totally paranoid and think the worst. Obviously still waiting for results is driving me up the wall its been a month since my doctor found the lump, just want to get on with chemo, just some action would help. Has anyone else got the same dx as me? particularly anyone who had the same dx and is at the other end of the treatment. Thanks for listening.

    I'm sorry you've had to join us here on bc.org, my dx is not exactly like your's but know you're in the worst place right now, it will get better.  I was a total basket-case at dx and felt the same way you do, I felt it was urgent that I get on chemo and that it was spreading.  It wasn't...I did 8X rounds of chemo, BMX with 16 LN removed in Jan and I have 7 more rounds of rads.  I'll do a oorph after that, I'll be on arimidex for the next 10 yrs. Once you get a tx plan in place you'll feel like you have control & be informed.  Your path report will let you know if you're ER/PR + or -, all these things are important info. & will determine your tx.  It will be an emotional roller-coaster ride and your feelings are normal, we've all been there.  This is a wonderful site with some great ladies who have tons of info.  Keep us informed of things.  Best of luck.

    sarahsweety-  I am so sorry you are here, but so glad you found this site.  I know right now all of these posts may appear to be "the lucky" ones, but I have seen numerous women come on who are now the very ones giving advice and encouragement to the "newbies".  I always watch as their perspective changes from the worst part, waiting for results, to the best days when they feel like they can put the chemo behind.  Just stick to one day at a time and remember we will be here with you every step of the way.  We know the path and how many poop piles are going to come your way right now, but the way does get less crappy. It is so doable!

    Kick it's butt for me!

    To bring you all up to date, went to hospital today for results of MRI scan which just confirmed what we kind of knew already that the cancer was in my right breast and extends towards and patially in my right armpit. Also got my first chemo appointment and heceptin appointment also going to have bone scan, heart scan, and ct scan all next week so looks like i'm going to be in the hospital next week everyday. Not feeling too bad about everything kind of dreading the chemo and heceptin but its got to be done cause I gotta fight this. Thanks for all your kind comments and for helping me to get through

    Hi Sarah:
    I'm another who had a similiar dx....6 years ago!  I also had a large her pos tumor and pos lymph nodes.  I did all the standard treatments (neo adjuvant chemo, herceptin, rads) and 6 years later, I'm doing great.  You will, too.  
    This is a great site.  Supportive, informed women.  Most of us have been where you are now.

    I had ILC,toumor 2cm,but 31 positive LN,also grade 3.I am HER2 pos.Herceptin was a piece of cake for me.We are here for you.I'm coming up on 2 years.It seems so much more time has passed though.

    Not sure if anyone is still catching this thread but I have just got my labs back and it confirms I have 8/21LN involved KI-67 is 70% and my actual tumor was only 1.3cm but I had a double masectomy as I am brca2 positive and also Her2+!

    What next??! I am going to see the onc on tues but what really scares me is that the original labs on my biopsy said I was Ki-67-20%, now things have been turn up side down with these new results. By the way I am grade 3!

    mayeve - it is not uncommon for Her2+ to have a higher grade and Ki67.  Are you ER/PR+ or -?  The portion of your biopsy that was sampled may not have been as aggressive and thus the lower Ki67% - breast tumors are not always homogenous.  If you are ER/PR+ check out the triple positive thread linked below - there are a lot of us node positive and Her2+ there -
