Hopefully we will have another reason to celebrate later today. I have just collected GD as DD is in labour and was about to go to the hospital. Just hope all goes well.
Amyjo you really need to go to NY
-
Still pushing, but he know I will go by myself if he does not go with me. I have a dear friend that lives in NYC and I would love to have time to visit with her too. I am sure I could get her to go with me to a play and maybe every her DH and DS would come too and we could have a real party.
-
Alyson, Hope everything goes well for your DD and you have a new grandchild soon.
-
I just this on the other "older thread" but i'd like to join in here too. It would be nice to have a single thread for all us "older, sensible, spirited, lively" women
Adding this to my favorites!
I don't know anyone here yet but sounds like a fun group.....so far it looks like I am the token Canadian eh!
A bit about me: dx Jan /09 stage 2. Mx, chemo and tamoxifen. Just turned 50, married for 28 years, I have a son 26 (married), daughter 24. No grandkids yet. Two small dogs. I decided it was time to commit to some physical exercise this year so I joined a Breast Cancer DragonBoat team. We train 3 times a week in the gym with spin classes, circuit and core workouts. Spin class is unbelievable...I didn't think a person could sweat so much. It's like hotflashes x 100 but really exhilirating. We will start on the river in May to learn paddling strokes and then compete in festivals throughout the summer. It is a great group of women from 39-74 years old. So much fun.
Have a wonderful day and thanks for starting this thread
Cheers

Alyson...a new grandbaby on the way. Wonderful. Keep us posted..another reason to party!
Amy, NYC is well worth the trip. I went here last April with some of my chemo group on this board. Fantastic time and I would do it again...and again...and again. Did I mention that I love NYC?
Thanks Barbara and hello Bren. -
Hello. I see a lot of familar faces here.
"These are the good old days," is from a Carly Simon song--and she's right! I hope.
I'm 58 and have no joint problems, creakiness or otherwise, BUT I'm not taking an AI either. Take grapeseed extract instead. And strontium for bone density.
I drink Guiness in the winter and Dos Equis Amber in the summer. If it's really hot, Stella gets it done. Even though I live in France, I'm not a big wine drinker. Love margaritas!
This is a fun, fast-moving thread. Thanks Barbara for getting it started.
-
Maya, France is on my bucket list..along with Italy, Greece, Scotland, Ireland and so much more. My daughter did a Kontiki tour of Europe last summer and she absolutely loved France. For now I will live vicariuosly through you, so please keep sharing stories of your beautiful homeland. Personally, I am a wine drinker and would love to visit France's amazing wine country.
-
Hey, I finally found the party! I'm definitely older (58), pretty darned spirited and usually fairly lively. Right now I'm kind of stoned on cough syrup - which is usually not my drink of choice!
-
France: Ahhhh....I work for a French company and love it!
I got a chance to go to Bourdeux once for 9 days....heaven! Best wine and desserts.
Love the wine from the Cote de Rhone region.
Would love to go back and tour the country.

Please pass the cough syrup River Rat. We'll make do until the real liquor arrives.
-
Pickle & Jan: You might enjoy "French Word-A-Day." It's a newsletter written by a woman whose family lives on and runs a vineyard. So in addition to the French word of the day are photos and stories about France and the vineyard.
-
I had a great aunt who was in the Salvation Army and each night she would have cough medicine to help her sleep. It was always a joke in the family.
-
Maya2, you can keep the bottle. I've had more than enough.
Alyson, that's too funny. I had no idea I was such a lightweight and that all the real drinkers were hittin' the cough syrup. This stuff is too much for me.
-
I will definitely check out the French word of the day!
Thanks
Jan

-
Barbara, you are too funny!
-
I think I will take the or for now. But the syrup is good when you need it. I have friends that swear by Jaegermeister being better than cough syrup. I tried it once and ended up not caring that I was coughing and feeling like crap. I felt GREAT (but drunk).

The rose goes between your teeth Lisa.
Congrats Ginger, and Alyson! Here's a toast to completing rads! -
Gingerbrew, congratulations! You don't know me yet but I'm doing a happy dance for you! (but no fruit on my head)
-
Ginger - congratulations on finishing rads!
Alyson - any news on the new grandchild yet? I need some cheery news to keep my party going here.
-
Aww Ginger, I am so pleased for you. I bet you are so relieved. I NEVER got a certificate, but then I did get snotty with them twice about keeping me waiting !!
Alyson...any news yet ?? What day is your actual birthday, will the new baby share with you I wonder ??
This party ia taking off a pace, I shall be sitting out tonight watching you all making fools of yourselves as I am tired. Keep the noise down please, I have had one too many white wines today, and am quite woozy.
3jays, you'd better tell us your cowboy story pretty damned quick, I am all ears.
Amyjo. I would love a trip to NY...always wanted to go there, I haven't had decent holiday in about 30 years, thats why I keep taking days out all thru' the year ! If I could leave all my animals, and know they would be safe while I was away I would be up for a short visit.
Pickle, Hi there !
Isabella.
-
Congrats on those finishing treatments!!!
Looking forward to the baby announcement!!!!
Lots of good news here..
Jan
