Helo to everyone: A new week.

3rd Rad today 3/28. It was another very pleasant day, but my wait was over one hour.  the patient who went in to Rads before took one (1), hour, I wonder what she was there for.  I took mu usual 10mins, then I loob up, I did not do my weekly Labs today, because they did not have my forms ready so they said tomorrow.

I have been doing some exercise before Rads started that I found on http://www.cancer.org/. 1 -800-227-2345.  The information was developed with the assistance from the Oncology Section of the American Physical therapy Association.

I did do my scratch off today I won $1.00

No winning today from scratch off.

5th Rad today - 5/38. Another positive day, I was called at 12:23pm and was finished at 12:35pm.  I feel the pressure again today like the first day and some warm sensation coming from the radiation.  I looped up got dressed and left. They highlighted my tattoos today, the Tech did not even tell me she was going to do it, I just felt the sting on my sternum.

Did my scratch off, did not win today.  still looking for the big bucks so played some lotto.

6th Rad today 6/28 - Today was a much longer day. An extra was taken prior to treatment, so my time from undressing to completion of treatment lasted about 20 mins.  I still feel some pressure and warmth.

Saw RO today he checked my skin and said it is o.k. I also took my weekly lab, which hurt very much because my veins are very deep, and can only be taken on one hand.

I won $2.00 and a free quick pick on my scratch off today.

7th day of Rads - 7/28 - Today was again a very successful day.  My wait was not very long, Techs were excellent, and of course I did loop up.  I will enjoy my two days off.  I am beginning to feel like my old self again.

I will food shop and go the hairdresser to Saturday, and go to Church on Sunday.

About my scratch off today, I won $2.00 and a free ticket for the take 5. From my $2.00 I bought a mega million ticket and a scratch ticket.  I am feeling good, I am not a gambler but I am having some fun.

3/21/2011 - is my 8th day 8/28. The day was very long.  I arrived at 12:31pm, I noticed the waiting room was very full of patients to my surprise.  My machine had broken down and a part had to be replaced.

I finally got called in at 1:42pm and completed my treatment at 1:55pm. I got my slip to take my blood but was tired from waiting so I decided to go the next day.

I played my scratch off as usual but had no luck.

Antigua --- It's a good thing to hear that just the machine broke down, and not your skin.  I remember when I had the radiation, I had no burning.  The technicians told me that if I was doing well after 2 weeks, the chances were small that I would have problems with my skin.  Our machine also broke down one day.  Thankfully, they called me in advance and just told me to come the following day.

    Good luck.

9th day - 9/28 Day of ratiation Therapy.  My wait today was about 20 minutes, but my treatment was very quick, I do believe it lasted less than 10 minutes, I do not feel as much pressure on my ribs as before.

I did my labs today, I worked with a Tech who I had last week, she worked with me and used the butterfly needle and she did find a vein and used only I stick.  My veins are very small, and as a nurse I am like a baby when it comes to sticking me.

The staff as usually is a pleasant as possible.

I did my scratch off today, but did not even win a free ticket, but I did play the megamillions today, wish me well.

I did enjoy the church service on Sunday, the church is around the corner from me, it is 110 years old, this Saturday they will be having a fashion show and I will be going.

I have to get my happy back.

Varaciousreader.I did give them the benefit of the doubt, because I usually am in and out.  I did feel a small pimple under my  that is being treated, but I am wondering if that is because over the weekend, I did not loob up as much, this weekend I will try to keep up my regimen. Did you ever have any skin problems.

The only skin symptom that I had was that after a few weeks my skin itched a little and my skin looked tanned. I had no burns to speak of. Afterwards it took a month or two for the skin color to return to normal.

10th Day. 10/28 yes, I am getting there.  I got a call early this morning from my A Rad Tech, explaining to me they were having a meeting around 12:30pm, and I had a choice to come in around 11:00AM or 1:15pm, because they did not want me to have a long wait, that was very thoughtful of them.

I arrived at around 12:57pm and was called around 1:40pm, it was my usual 10 mins but I was introduced to a new room.  I found the room to be much smaller and a bit crowded, it seems as if it was being used for a while and is newly reopened.

I played my scratch off today, but did not have any luck, and I did not even get a single number on the megamillion, but will keep trying remembering it is something to keep me occupied.

My Scripture reading for today is from Acts 1-7. We are reading the New Testament for Lenth.

Varaciousreader - I am very happy to hear you had no skin problems, I am trying to make sure that I do the same.  Today I did not remember to loob up until after I got dressed, so I removed my clothing and loobed up.  Must take care of the skin. LOL

11th day of Rads 11/33 - I finally found out I will be getting 5 boosts along with my 28 regular Rads which will bring my total to 33 rads. I looped up very well today.

Today was a very long day for me, I had almost no waiting for Rads was called in at 12:10pm and along with my X-ray I was out at 12:31pm.  Then was placed in a room to wait for the doctor, it took almost an hour.  I got tried waiting in a locked room, so I came out of the room in stood in the hall so I could be seen.

Everything is O.K. so far and my skin is holding up.  My RO wants me to have a Bone scan, which I scheduled for next Monday 3/28/11.

I did play my scratch off today and won $1.00, i am still having fun.

My scripture reading for today is Acts 8-14.  I will start early today and read in increments, because it is not very easy to do all in 1(one) sitting. I also want to digest what I read.

VR - I am so happy and I too look forwarding to talking to you whenever you can drop in.

12th Day - 12/33. Today was a good day no waiting, was in and out my usual 10 mins.   Of course, i remembered to loop up.

I find that my breast hurts sometimes at night, so I massage it, I told the RO yesterday he said it happens.

Today I played my scratch off and I won a free ticket, the money is very slow in coming, but I continue to have fun.

I went to the Hair dresser and put in some color and had my hair curled, getting ready for my fashion show tomorrow.

Scripture reading today is Acts 15 - 21.

VR -The consult reads Bone Scan, they are r/o Bone Island rather than a blastic metastasis, especially since I have a pain on my right side and my kidneys are O.K.

13th day of rads, 13/33 Today was a very long day for me, it started off with me registering for the Bone Scan, then I went to the 7th floor.  They called me in to get the Isotope injection.  But prior to injection I asked to see the machine, since I am clusterphobic, then I told them I cannot do the scan if that machine would feel like it was compressing my head.  Then is when they told me about the open machine. So I got injected, then I went to the SB to sign in for my Rads.  since the injection had to be in my system for 2 hrs.

I arrived at 11:45am, and was called in about 5 minutes later.  Then after getting set up, I was told  was having an X-ray today,  was surprised because I had an x-ray on Thursday, so she explained that I will not have another one this week.

Today they started my treatment on the right side then move to the sternum.  that was a switch.  Treatment and x-ray lasted about 20 minutes.

I then returned to the Bone scan area - Nuclear medicine, the whole body bone scan lasted about 50minutes.  Eventhough my RO only wanted a right ribs and right side, they emphasized they needed to do the whole body, and tortured me, even at one time taping my shoes to gether to keep my feet together.

Then he wanted me to empty my bladder so he could do a few more pictures, I said to him I had enough, I cannot hold still any longer.

I did 2 scratch off today, won $1.00 and a free ticket.

Scripture reading today is Romans 7 - 12.

I had a wonderful weekend, I went to a Fashion Show, and to church yesterday, I asked the minister to pray for my healing.

My husband had his foot burned yesterday, but I took care of it it is not very bad, he is doing OK.

    Have a pleasant night.

    God Bless.

14th day of rads, 14/33, today was a rather easy day, my visit including rads lasted 15 minutes.  Then I was off to rads.

    Then I had labs done.

My scratch off yielded 1 free ticket.

scripture reading for the day is Romans 13 - 16.

VR - It is OK to ask. My RO said on my CT report, it stated that I have a Small sclerotic focus in the right aspect of the T12 vertebra of uncertain significance possibly a bone island, I should have my skeleton evaluated. The report said that no lytic or blastic focus is otherwise seen. But the Bone Scan would offer more sensitive evaluation.

I have an intermittent pain on my right side my kidneys are OK from my last Scan and my labs are good.  He also told me that RO and radiologist are sued a lot, so when ever they see the slightest thing on the CT they usually order different test for R/O.

So he is R/O bone cancer.

He did not call me today at Rads to speak to me, so I guess he will be speaking to me on Thursday, since that is the day we usually meet.

Quiet is good! Drink lots of fluids and if the weather is nice, try walking. That should keep the fatigue at bay.

16th day of Rads, 16/33, half way there.  The day went by very quickly, in and out, and I continue to loop up after, eventhough, I have to remove my camisole and shirt after I get dressed, since sometimes I forget.

I was to see the RO today, but my visit was postponed until tomorrow.

I did not win anything on my scratch off, but I still have hope.

VR - How are you doing, I guess they will tell me about the Bone scan results tomorrow.  Thanks for the advice, I walk every day, and even though I am not a water drinker, I still force myself to drink.

Scripture reading for today is 1st Corinthians 7 - 12.

    God Bless.

I am not a water drinker either. But drinking and walking and an occasional drink... All helped. Thank you for asking how I am. I had a rough day. I have a bum shoulder that will be operated on later next month... And I have problems with my good shoulder. I got a cortisone shot in the good shoulder today and the doctor told me to stop doing my exercises to strengthen my shoulders for a few days. I just feel very frustrated that my shoulders are failing me and it is difficult to do things.... Like sleeping and getting dressed. But I am grateful to wake up each morning and become vertical and for that, I thank G-d everyday.

I wish you well. Hopefully , your treatment will be uneventful and you will resume doing all the things that you enjoy doing!

18th day of Rads. 18/33 Today's treatment was a bit longer because they X-ray today, and it had to be a retake because they needed to do some adjustments.  My breast is doing fine, because I continue to loob up frequently.

No wins on my scratch off today..

My weekend was wonderful, Fish Fry on Saturday, Church on Sunday.

Scripture reading for today is 2nd Corinthians 9 - 13.

I hope you are drinking lots of water and taking walks. That's what got me through treatment. Glad your skin is holding up. I did fine. Perhaps you are walking in my shoes..... Thoughts and prayers for you, every day!

20th day of Rads. 20/33, Rads was o.k. today no drama, loobed up as usual. I was cold so my RT covered me, even my breast to be radiated, when I inquired he said the radiation will go through the sheet.

If they know this why don't they cover us up and prevent patients skin from getting burned.  good food for thought.

My scratch off today won me a free ticket, I did not play yesteerday and I missed it.

Scripture reading for today is Ephesians 1 - 6.

VR - The labs are my regular CBCto check my blood count.  I took the bone scan last week monday saw my RO last thursday he said nothing to me. I usually see him on Thursday's so I will see if he say anything to me tomorrow.

Yes, I do drink water and I walk a few blocks everyday.  Because I am not working at the moment I seem to be holding up, I do not feel very tired, and my Husband helps me with  the cooking.

I do feel that bond between us.  How are  the shoulders, hope they are holding up.

    God bless.

Glad all is well. I am thrilled to hear how helpful your husband has been. You seem to be both blessed.

Thank you for asking about my shoulders. Not good. Very frustrating. I scheduled surgery for later this month. I am very ambivelant about having surgery because I already had surgery on my other shoulder and it was no picnic. I have done everything conservative and I still have not been able to sleep restfully for longer than I can remember. I had an MRI of the good shoulder and a cortisone shot in that shoulder. That arm is doing a little better. Bottom line is that I am resigned to having more surgery and aggressive PT afterwards. I realize that afterwards I will need to be more proactive with my arms. I am going to learn to do more delegating and more pointing to what needs to be done with my family. "Could you please lend me a hand," is going to become part of my vocabulary!

Wishing you well and blessings to!
