Ahmin- Glad your mom is tolerating the chemo, drinking lots of water really helped me too, i did suck on ice cubes as well because i got mouth sores from the chemo and it helps, also ice pops any thing cold but not acidic. It wasnt untill about my second chemo i started having more side effects, hopefully she wont have a problem but this could happen. About 14 days after chemo i started losing my hair, it was my birthday and my husband shaved my head, while i sat in the bath tub, i put on my hat and went out that night. and tryed to just have fun. Im glad you are keeping us posted on your mom, she is in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi Ahmin, So sorry to hear about your mom. As I read you note, I can see right away that you already have the most important medicine for your mom and that's you. Love and support are so important. No, you may not be able to alieveate all her fears, but she'll certainly know that you're there to lean on. If you have faith in Jesus He will keep his promise to be with her and you. I am a 4 year breast ca survivor. I lost half of a breast and had radiation and am now on Femara. I have a year to go on the Femara. I am also Estrogen sensitive.  don't let mom eat grapefruit. There's something in grapefruit that encourages estrogen to form. Oranges and other citrus are ok, just no grapefruit.  I am also a 12 yr NonHodgkins Lymphoma survivor. I had chemo and radiation for that, while just radiation for the breast cancer.

I did lose my hair from the chemo, but it came back. The doctor gave me IV ativan in my chemo mix because I was soooo nervous about it. Made me loopy but it was well worth it at the time. Really, I didn't need it but I didn't learn that until the end. of treatment.  After chemo I had a week of radiation on my scalp and that permanently damaged my hair. I have the world's worst combover.  LOL  But I still have my heath.  Lots of fear, but just know the Big C isn't to be feared like it used to be.  Fight it! for everything you're worth. A friend of mine was told by her docs that she was going to die. she ultimately lost her female organs and part of colon, etc. Today she is a healthy homeopathic doctor in her own right and helping others.  Never Never stop fighting even if someone tells you it's time.  Take care of the eternal things like salvation and telling family and friends how much they're loved, etc. Carry on. God bless. Brenda
