Miss Bianca - They are still negotiating rates for rooms, but soon they will tell us. Since I am new to this trip, I have no idea what is planned, except for lots of fun!

Juli, thanks!  I was just curious. I have fond memories of the casinos. I didn't gamble, but loved all the entertainment features of them, not to mention the fabulous buffets! If I was still on the west coast, I would be finding my way to you guys. I'm excited for you all!

I see that you are in Simi Valley. I grew up in the San Fernando Valley, and most of my family is still about 20 minutes from you. I read that Mike Myer's Cat in the Hat was filmed in Simi Valley, and they built the perfect Dr. Seuss houses with perfect lawns for the movie there. Did you ever see where they filmed?

Miss Bianca - I remember where they filmed Cat in the Hat. It was off the 118 Frwy on the way to Moorpark. But you couldn't see too much of it from the Frwy. Water for Elephants, starring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon, was filmed near here, in Fillmore, and will be released on April 22. I grew up in Canoga Park. What part of the Valley did you grow up in?

Juli, I grew up in Northridge, about 15 minutes from you! We may have crossed paths at one time or another. One of my string of part-time jobs while going to school was working at Sid's Seafood in Canoga Park. I have fond memories of it, because we were allowed to take home a discounted dinner. I loved their monkfish.

I think Fillmore is near Santa Paula, isn't it? I used to take that route on my way up to Santa Barbara. There are a lot of beautiful, open spaces there. I could see why they would want to film a movie there.

I hope everyone is having a relaxing Sunday!

Wonderland I sent Coolbreez a PM but it looks like she hasn't logged in since Feb 27th...she is however updating her blog and apparently has finally got an answer to her shoulder pain "frozen shoulder syndrome" - the shoulder is still causing her alot of pain...

That being said...don't you disappear too!  I still want to be your friend :)

o2bhealthy - I still want to be friends also!

Sorry CoolBreeze is having pain. Not good.

This has been a great week for me. I'm taking this week off from work because my college age daughter is home for Spring Break. And my son who graduated from college last May came home for a couple of days. Just like the old days!

I went through all my treatments when my son was a freshman in college and my daughter was in the 10th grade. She was with me the entire time: the good and bad. She would hunt me down in the house when I was off crying by myself. My husband supported/supports me 100% but that female/daughter connection is beyond special.

Well, thanks for listening. It's been a wonderful week.

Wonder - so glad you are having a good wonderful week!

My DH & I have 'volunteered' to drive a van full of junior & senior high students to Magic Mountain in CAL this weekend. We leave at midnight Friday and get back Sunday at 8am.  I haven't done a 48 hour turn around since my 20's...what were we thinking!!!!

I would LOVE to be your friend.  I, too, seem to wander over the board dropping posts with not much response.  I guess, as with most of my life experience, I have too dry a wit and most people tend to misunderstand.  I've learned that this written/internet medium its even harder for people to get my wit or lack of wit.  Some days I feel completely witless or even like a complete nitwit.  I love your posts and humor.  You remind me of Erma Bombeck.  I'm old enough to remember reading her and laughing out loud.  Now there is a woman who could really put things in perspective.

Miss Bianca - We were practically neighbors! :) yes, Santa Paula is next to Fillmore. I have been there many times as an appraiser.

Isn't it great that CoolBreeze got us all together!!!

o2b: Sounds like a GREAT trip! Just sit back and enjoy the conversations. I have taken car loads of kids on many trips and they are some of my happiest memories. Just talking about some of them today!

DarleneD: Welcome! Let your wit shine here.

Juli50: It is great that CoolBreeze got us all together. Wish she would come back!

To all the Rat People: I ask people daily if they have heard of people keeping rats as a pet. Some have, some haven't. I'm still baffled by it. Tongue out

    O2B,

Yikes, Michelle!.... Junior and senior high students AND lots of driving..... You're going to need a week to recuperate...lol!

Seriously.. I've had some weekends like that with my kids.  Although we're not usually traveling  but wind up with a huge pack of kids (high school and college) spending the weekend here!  I always think there's no way I'm going to come out the other side with my sanity intact but, it has always worked out just fine!

And, if things get a bit dicey, it always makes for a good story!!!!

PS... I will ALWAYS consider you to be my friend!

I am getting nervous about this weekend, not the trip actually but my LE...

For the last week and a half I have not had to wear my compression sleeves nor compression vest (I have not idea what I have done to bring my LE under control??? but I am not complaining!).  I am packing my LE garments and wrapping stuff just in case, the kids are going to think I am crazy hauling a small travel suitcase but it is a lot of stuff.

Should I wear my sleeves during the drive??? Or should I just keep hydrated and make sure to elevate my arms every 1/2 hour??

Damn cancer - I can't even plan a get away without this damn disease rearing its ugly head!

((((Seaside)))) Right back at ya sister/friend Laughing

Wonder - as a rat person I think it is funny that more people have not heard of rat's as pets...maybe it is a midwest, west coast kinda of thing???

o2b: so sorry about your LE. That's the dirty little secret of damn bc. Glad you're packing everything just in case you need it. Hope everything goes fine for you and you have a marvelous trip.

O2b, how was Magic Mountain? I had fun there as a teenager. In fact, it was the site of my very first rock concert, with Oingo Boingo, with lead singer Danny Elfman. He has gone on to make quite a career for himself as a film score composer. Hopefully, it wasn't too crowded at this time of year for you.

Juli, what a nice career, to be able to travel in such a pretty part of the state. Hopefully, the real estate market will start to turn around, and reach an equilibrium.

I hope you all are off to a great week!

Oi vay am I tired!!!! Magic Mountain was fun, the kids all had a blast. I even road the X2 roller coaster and I AM NOT A FAN of roll coasters, especially those that go in circles and spirals...I had my eyes closed and don't think I breathed for the whole 55 second ride!!

We had 23 high school and junior higher kids, 6 adults, two 15 passenger vans (tight squeeze).  The total round trip was 31 hours. I got 4 hours of sleep, my poor DH only got about 2 hours and he was one of the drivers.

MissB - Love your rat picture - it is perfect for today!

I know somebody who will sleep good tonight! Glad the trip was fun. I'm impressed you rode the roller coaster! Were you able to keep your LE under control?

Mondays and rats: what a combination! Surprised

Wonder - LE did not give me any problems, I was slightly puffy but not bad.

This may be TMI but  I have to admit that I actually peed a little on that damn X2 roller coaster - it literally scared the pee out of me!!! Thankfully I went to the bathroom before getting on the ride or I would have been really embarrassed Embarassed

o2b - That's great about your LE. Now about the peeing...I know you're glad you had gone to the bathroom before the ride! I'm sure you had enough to take care of during the day and the thought of packing extra panties that morning never crossed your mind.

    O2B,

Glad to hear you made it through your weekend!  Lordy, I think sometimes we have a full house here but, it is nothing like the trip you took!!!   Thank goodness your LE stayed in check!!  I also do the roller coasters because my kids want me to but, I am basically a big old chicken who would prefer to keep both feet firmly planted on the ground!

Hope you and your husband get caught up on your rest SOON!

    funny-pictures-cats-pretend-that-they-are-on-a-roller-coaster

O2B, I bet you are still recovering from the weekend! You're a brave soul to make a trip like that with all the kids, and getting on the rollercoaster. They are building the craziest coasters now, and I think they are aiming to break the speed of sound. Back in the day at Magic Mountain, the Revolution coaster was the big deal, with a complete upside down loop, as well as the Colossus, the huge wooden one. What makes me really nervous at the amusement parks are the cable lift rides that dangle sky high. I was on one, when a friend started telling me about a ski lift cable accident, just to mess with me! lol

Wonder, I thought you'd like the rat! Wink

    Hugs all.

Hi new friends, you can get the Cool Breeze update at her blog (butdoctorihatepink@blogspot.com).  In her March 6 blog post she reports that she is having some considerable trouble typing due to the shoulder injury; really a bummer.  But not as much of a bummer as having to take your husband shopping, reported in same post Smile. . . . .

Ann, still love the blog, and I appreciate the Viagra/Herceptin news in the latest one, too; very interesting.

    I hope you feel better.

    Warmly,

    Cathy
