What I don't understand is - if they have their own site, why bother coming here?
Ya know...I have bigger fish to fry than all of this drama. I was just putting something out there so others can understand what happened. I have no earthly idea who you gals are talking about when accusing Blue of hacking.
enjoyful, you asked why come over here? Because we belong here every bit as much as you. We were told by some of the ladies here some time back that we should have our own place to post....that was on one of the political threads. Perhaps for discussion about countries and politics and religion, ya'll could have a site for that. Please don't think you can run us away from the first place we came to know after our dx. There have been women who have left because of this mess.
We have "guests" visiting us all the time. Seems like ladies like to read what we have to say over at the other place. There's not much anyone here should be interested in.
I'm done with conversation. I believe Melissa even asked us not to bring things from one site to another. She said she couldn't moderate another site. Just saying........And, I think many of you have treated her with disrespect and she still just keeps giving and giving. So have at it.
Oh, and I do have a very lovely daughter. In fact I have three lovely daughters who were my rock (plus my DH) and still are while going through my first dx. Today I get to have fun. I get to go through a CT scan.
Have a great day ladies. I won't be back on this thread.

I've been reading all this with my morning coffee. As a stalkee, I have a stake in this and I hope that BCO figure out a way to stop the stalking and cyberbullying and deleting. But honestly, I'm totally confused by what's been going on.
First, why in the world would someone hack into the other site? You can read it without signing in. You can join under the same name that you use here so that everyone knows who you are (I'm a member there. I really like some of the individuals who started the site and I was invited to join back when it started; given what the site has evolved to, I no longer participate.) Or you can join under a new name so that no one knows who you are and you can post and wreak havoc (for those who wish to do such a thing - personally I don't see the point). So why would someone want to hack into that site? And why would anyone there think that someone fromhere had hacked into their site? To read other people's PMs or send PMs under someone else's name? If anyone goes to that extreme and is that obsessed with all that's been going on, seriously I don't think we need to worry about the hacking - we need to worry about the mental state of that individual. They need help.
Second, why are so many posts being deleted? Doesn't that just encourage those who are being deleted to come back under another name and say something worse the next time? I don't agree with deleting anyone but a true spammer. If someone is stalking or cyberbullying, I think it's best to let them continue to do it - and to call them out so that it's clear to anyone reading that they are stalking or bullying. If someone is stalking or cyberbullying, I think the best evidence is to let their words stand. As I've read through this thread this morning, and other threads where there have been many deletions, it's hard to tell who is who, who is on which side, who really said something dispicable and who just responded, who instigated things and who tried to get control. There have been too many deletions all around. By deleting all the posts, hasn't everyone simply adopted the bullies' strategy? How is that helpful?
Perhaps if some of the more distasteful posts were allowed to stand, some of the sideline supporters of the stalkers and bulliers might see those individuals for who and what they really are. Or if they don't, at least everyone else will.
If there really are just a handful of individuals causing all the problems, don't we want them to stand out so that everyone can see them, and then they can be dealt with? Instead, it looks like everyone else is jumping onto the bandwagon with them - and now it's impossible to tell who is who.
Just my observations, as someone who appreciates the efforts of this group to get this addressed and who has a stake in how this is resolved. What am I missing?
-
Beesie,
I've debated the report/don't report issue myself. The problem is that the more you ignore, the bolder the infraction. On the other hand, deleting encourages users to create new user IDs and continue the abusive behavior.
I don't know what the answer is, but it won't come from the user side of the equation.

I deleted my own posts because I regret being involved! Sorry if I have offended anyone.

Good Morning Ladies. Hope the nightmare of last night has been resolved. Personally, I think the problem is that some of our posters thought they could be members of both sites in a peaceful way and it didn't turn out that way. I am sorry to see a certain one leave because I did enjoy our political conversations. I don't want to get my dented head chopped off for saying this but I think they have a better set up for discussing multiple issues especially politics over there. They seem to understand that even tho this is basically about bc survival, women like to discuss a lot of issues rather than dwell on bc all the time.
If you are thinking why didn't I join them if I like their forum set up so much. It's because unfortunately, after I read their posts, I knew I would never fit in with that group. I certainly could never condone any one doing to another group's member the likes of what went on here last night. I feel we are all better off if we stay in our own backyards and we decide "which" backyard we want to be in. Politics aside, I would still prefere to call this place my forum. Right or wrong, I can not imagine any of us going to their site and trying to torment a member.
Althena: Thank you so much for guiding the way to stop this last night. I truly hope they will see we don't want a battle with them but we are very protective of our members. I also hope Melissa understands what was done last night was to try to keep this under control and we won't get our thread deleted. Today will tell. Have a good day everyone!

If this forum had a type of "like/dislike" or voting system (that might even reflect on the "title" of the poster) eveything would be much easier. It is possible on some platforms.
Let's say, if someone accumulates a certain number of "dislikes" in a set period of time, they get a title (like, for example, "not really liked") after their username. The higher number of dislikes, the harsher the title, ending with something like "hated by everybody". Like this, everyone would be aware of who they are and they can put them on "ignore" if they so wish.
And titles would go too with the "likes", of course lol
And make the "report this post" valid only for spam. And if someone clicks the "report" for anything else more than three times in a row, be suspended for three days, and if that repeats, their account be banned.
-
This forum used to have a rating system and feelings were hurt because of the use of that system. It was taken out when the site was revamped.
-
Day: We are not running for public office. We are just ladies having discussions. Just because certain members may not like what we post does not mean we should deserve getting a bad rating. I can understand why that system was defeated. It doesn't belong on a personal thread like this, imo.
-
Ok, then I give up. I have no other idea on how this issue can be solved. Except for 24/7 online moderators.
-
Wow, that sounds like a 'wolf pack' mentality. This is a support site for goodness sakes. Do we really want to label people as 'most hated?' That seems awfully harsh. Wouldn't that be just as bad as what the 'trolls' are doing? I think we want to be kind and not lower ourselves to a level we claim to abhor. Just my opinion and not directed at anyone specifically. Let's be KIND to one another as much as possible and forgive those who can't find kindness in themselves to give to others.

Day, this thread already includes cyberbullied in the title, why would you think this site needs to come up with a new way to make women fighting cancer feel bad about themselves?
-
Well, you can't stop the emotionally challenged from joining and creating a ruckus. There's no safeguard for that, unfortunately.
-
ljh: What are we doing for Lent?? Isn't that a question for the Catholic thread? I know Episcopalians celebrate it also but since I am no longer a member of either religion, I don't do the "Lent" thing. The best thing I ever did years ago for Lent for give up dating DP so I could date this fantastic other guy! When DP asked me why, I told him it was because we were supposed to give up something we liked a lot so it was a compliment to him. After Lent was over, my family refused to let me keep the new guy so I ended up back with DP. So it seems one has a lot of choices when giving up something they like for Lent, imo.
-
Do you have to be a Catholic or Episcopalian to give something up for Lent? I think that question about Lent on the previous page should be in the Catholic thread. It really made no sense in this conversation.
Bren
Edited: Unless the poster was suggesting the trolls stay home for Lent ... I think that would be a good idea.

Okay, kids, this has been fun but I've been up most of the night with DOG, and spent my morning researching dog anal glands. DOG finally passed out and now I need to follow suit.
Hope everyone has a good day.

E: When you wake up why don't you get the Vet to figure out why doggie is still having butt problems? If it is keeping you and doggie up all night, it has to be giving her pain. Poor doggie. Poor, tired Enjoyful!

Why aren't you people listening to me?????????
This has NOTHING to do with conservative against liberals............
It has NOTHING to do with Christians vs Muslims.........
It has NOTHING to do with hacking.........
It has NOTHING whatsoever to do with DELETING.........
this is an assault against ALL OF US from ONE PERSON that is hell bent on taking down BC.ORG..............
Most of you have no idea what I am talking about.....but there is a very small group that knows exactly what I am talking about......
if we will stop fighting with each other and become a united front to solve this issue all of us could get back to business of dealing with breast cancer......
and politics or Brussels sprouts.......or whatever else draws us together at this website......
we are all intelligent women......but this person is dive bombing us and her strategy is for us to turn against each other............
Athena when I posted yesterday you missed my point......when Pat reported a post she came right on the thread and said I reported that post......don't say that you don't think I did it but others from my side did..........I will guarantee you that "our side" has not done anymore deleting then your side.........WE ARE BEING SETUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ladies please listen to me........we have got to regroup as a team (maybe a dysfunctional team) but nonetheless we have to present a united front......shokk
-
Shokk .. I appreciate your impassioned plea to unite on this front.
But, I can't. I've been the target of many hateful posts on the other site, and I'm not willing to join up with the likes of LizardKing, Sammysmom1 and whatever other false ID's may be out there.
Hugs to you for trying,
Bren

Whoa! Hold on, I've only popped now and then on this thread, and didn't follow through with what has been going on (kind of hard to do anyway with all the deleted posts).
Is there one person who is the source of all this? What is more simple than just PM the moderators and if enough PMs are send probably an action will be taken?
Because, otherwise, (and I apologize in advance to anyone who migh feel offended) to me it looks like a whole group of ladies have gone (or are going) through this long and hard journey, and now, instead of enjoying life, they get all upset about a forum. A forum in which the people don't even know each other. If X user calls you names, how important is that X user to you? Do they influence your income, your treatment, your family, do they put food on your table and a roof above your head? Do you respect them and are they someone you look up to? No? Then why in the world do you get so upset with each other? There's one button called "ignore".
Being a "top figure" in the forum shouldn't be the epitome of our existence, especially after what we've been through. Spring is coming, enjoy LIFE, the life that you still have, don't waste it on things that are not of importance!
-
Day .. I agree with using the Ignore feature, and I use it liberally.
Many, many notes have been sent to the moderators. I think Melissa is trying to sort this out.
Bren

"Is there one person who is the source of all this? What is more simple than just PM the moderators and if enough PMs are send probably an action will be taken?"
Exactly.
-
Shokk....I think, maybe, that I know the person you may be referring to. What makes you think it is her?
Edited to add: pm if you want.
-
Bren I am sorry but you need to buck up........everyone please put feelings aside.....this isn't about being hurt or who said what or who accused whom of what.......
Ladies I am talking to both to my Conservative comrades and my Liberal sisters......
Bren or anyone else you can either help us or not but you gals that think I am full of snott please stay out of the way.....and let us do what we need to do...... if anyone wants to help me please send me a pm.......shokk
-
Shokk: I am so glad you want to end this mess as well as we do but you are a member of the other site to. Why don't you PM someone you trust in this group and tell them "who" is "setting us up". Why would someone who joins both sites want to set up bco? What do they have to gain other than keep us all in turmoil? Remember, it was one of your ladies who came on here last night determined to harass Blue and was ready to delete any one who got in her way, including myself. I cannot imagine any bc survivor in our group who would want to destroy this group. Wouldn't it be easier for her to just stay in your group and enjoy being a part of your people? What does she have to gain? It seems whoever this is knows her strategy has already won. Personally, I just want your people to stay in their forum and not find ways to disturb our group. Last night should not have happened and I do hope it won't again. Your battle with someone in our group should not take place in our open thread. What makes you think some of us don't already know more than you think we do? I just hoped it would not have gone as far as it did last night.
BTW, I do hope your entire group on the other site is not happy about what happened here last night. Your lady should be told that is not the way to handle things if you want peace between our groups. The best to you and your people if they truly want peace with us.
-
shokk ... once again I am seeing accusations. This whole mess started with baseless accusations against blue. Let's not go there again please.
If there is evidence of such a plot then the proper person to notify is Melissa. Give her your evidence and let her check it out.
-
I am in the middle of a project and we need to get together as a think tank......it may take me some time to try and figure out how we need to tackle this problem.......
I will need some ideas but we cannot do this on a public forum.......
if anyone has any ideas how we can get together privately please let us know.......
and for all the girls that are banned we all need to be able to communicate......
and please on request......let's not point any fingers at each other and fight among ourselves....please ladies.......let's work together as a team.....shokk
