    Emme That is great!!!

I will be looking at surgery in April/May and we have decided that after the 5 yrs of meds we will be taking out the ovaries, Unless Dr. White talks to the board and they think that it would be better to take them before then. I am fine with either.

3 more taxol treatments and this phase will be done!!!

    The Blue Oar in Haddam?

I'd wait til May - March can be cold by the river and no inside seating. I'm not sure they open before May.

    Hi Girls:

Good to hear we are all getting through this lovely winter :)  I agree that Coyote Blue is a fun place, small but fun with fabulous margaritas and very easy to get to off route 9.  I would certainly be in for a night out.

Karebear- hang in there...it's almost over!!!

Hi ladies I am from Norwich CT newly diagnosed in Feb.  I get my port in on Wednesday the 9th and start Chemo on the 16th.  I will bet getting AC----->T. for 8 weeks every 2 weeks.  I am scared but excited  at the same time to get the show on the road.  I will come to this thread again to support all from  Connecticut.  Thanks for the invite.

Lynniea: Welcome. Sounds like you have the same treatment plan I am on. I just had my 2nd taxol treatment. I found that if you look at the treatments in 2 phases it really helps. Just focus on the A/C part right now. So you are 1/4 of the way thru! Keep your chin up and visit and vent as needed. The ladies here are great!!

JoJo-wow you've been through a lot of activity in a short period of time. Hope all is well and try to get as much rest as you can. Your body has been through a lot and you need time to really recooperate. Wishing you the best.

Went to a chemo teach today very emotional day.  Lot to take in an hour her went over the first phase which is the worst she said.  They have a support for wigs and will see her on the 16th.  What did you all wear when you lost your hair.  I have my port put in tomorrow at 7am.

I wore a wig, scarves, hats. PITA all of them :)

It's nice you have someone to go to help you understand chemo.

Fortunately I didnt need a port. My nurse found four veins that would last the process.

    GL tomorow!

I wear hats most of the time. I have a wig but it itches so I stick to the hats!! I do have a couple of scarves too that I like.

I have a port also. It is so much easier. My veins stink. GL tomorrow!!

Welcome Lynneia and JoJo! Glad you found us...Sorry you're one of us.

Things change so quickly with me..since the last time I posted My herceptin tx have been suspended until further notice.  My ejection fraction is down from 68% to 48% in six months.  The Gyn refered me to a cardiologist to be cleared for the hysterectomy surgery.  I passed the stress test but she put me on a beta blocker. Time will heal all wounds, right?

The robotic surgery is out, I have too many adhesions, so they are going through to abdominal wall.  A little longer recovery..but I will get there :)

Friday I am headed to NC to visit my daughter.  I am so excited! I will be good to be in a little warmer weather for a few days.

I'd love to get together any plans yet? flash? claire?

    Sending love and prayers!

    Emme

    Hi Lynniea and JoJo:

Welcome to the best club you never wanted to belong too.  I had 4 rounds of AC and 12 rounds of Taxol + Herceptin followed by 28 radiation treatments.  I have a port and even though my last Herceptin treatment was in October of 2010, I still have the port...just in case....  I have had expanders, and exchange, a staph infection.... and one un-reconstructed side....so if anyone has any questions, PM me and I will be more than happy to lend an ear. Purchase Senekot and Immodium in equal amounts and don't be afraid to use them :)  The one thing I learned was that it wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined it would be.

     xoxo,

    Mimi
