So glad to hear that it is treatable Laura! Wahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
-
Hey, good news Laura. I'm glad it's just an easy, simple cancer. (read with sarcasm)
Normally I'm good about finding extra money. Not this year... Surgery, brakes on the car, a new roof and I HAVE to go to MN and see my Dec. Diva chemo sister who is now stage IV. I may not have another chance to see her. If not this year, then next year just HAS to be better for me financially! And I'll show up in Vegas, baby.
-
Laura
your sending me off to bed feeling better about you. I love all my sisters : )
-
Laura that is good news but having cancer of any kind is sad. I hope that it is a speedy recovery. My thoughts are with you?
Cindy how did the onc go?
Looking forward to Vegas! Still have not heard the countdown. Who is in charge of that? I am not good at it so that is why I am asking. Tracey it is really awesome that you are doing this. So grateful for the experience I had last year. Are we going to any shows this year? I hope we are going to the piano bar again. That is a must and I will bring my pink hat!
-
Laura did not mean to put a question mark at my thoughts are with you. They truly are sorry about that.
-
Jancie: I also enjoy morning sleep; and am quiet so that may work for us; but like you no matter. I'm just glad to go! How do we find out room cost and do I book flights rite now??
Any other tips from previous Vegas gals?? I've not left hubbie in 20+ yrs or kids in twelve; ever!
But this seems like the best medicine I will have taken in a year!! -
EBANN, It's me SUSIE doing the countdown, I've started it early this year & have done it a couple of times & then you asked about it I did it 2 days ago...(I get a rush from it....just silly me)!! Are ya ready??!!.........It is now 224 days till the reunion!! It may sound like a lot, but believe me, the days will go by so fast & before you know it you'll be surrounded by the best group of GALS you ever met!!! (((HUGS)))
Can we get a WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Take care Chow XOXO Susie

Bailey5 - you can book your tickets whenever you are ready to. We arrive on Friday and leave on Monday. We have two groups at the airport meet and we share a limo to the hotel - maybe need a couple of limos for each group depending on their flights. A good time to arrive would be anywhere from 9 am to 2 pm. The groups stay at the airport to around 3:30 or 4 pm at the latest. Anyone arriving after that is on their own to get to the hotel.
On Monday - you might want to consider an early afternoon flight. The first trip, I had to get out of bed at 8 am to get to the airport. YIKES!!! That was after staying up almost all weekend. I know book my afternoon flights to leave around 2 pm to 3 pm or even later. We have to be out of the rooms by 12 noon.
We don't have the room rates yet but seriously that is the cheapest part of the trip or so it seems. By the time you figure out 4 people to a room - I think my bill last year was less than $150 for 3 nights.
-
Bailey - we won't have a definate cost for the hotel until everyone is signed up - that is why we have a deadline set. Then we take the amount of people going and start hitting up the hotels for the cheapest rate for a hotel on the strip.
-
I stayed at Bally's last year and my flight and hotel was 525.00. I got to LV on a Thursday and left on Tuesday morning!
-
Laura, Not that any dx of cancer is good news but I'm so relieved to hear that it is treatable! My thoughts are with you and fingers crossed that the chemo cream just wipes that "C" outta sight and fast!
Love ya,
Terri
-
Great new Laura - good luck with the cream treatment! If I ever roadtrip your way will look you up. Same goes for you - if St Louis is in your sights let me know!
Ok - so question for the group, both those who have gone before and newbies (like me) for this year. Does anyone gamble on this trip? I ask because I tend to go to Vegas several times a year and this trip would be one of those times. I am also working with Gissella on checking room pricing. I have a contact at one of the resorts and this was one of the questions she asked me. So - any gamblers?
-
I am not sure I met anyone on these trips that didn't gamble!
-
Well - than I will be with good company!
I mention it because it can "help" with the room cost. The one I am in contact is offering quite a few things if we stay with them
-
I am most definitely a gambler
-
HELLO, I SAW YOUR POST FROM A LONG TIME AGO ABOUT EXPANDERS. IM ON MY 20TH RAD GOT 8 MORE AND WANT TO QUIT!! MY SKIN IS NOT GOOD EVEN MY PS SAID LOOKS BAD. PLEASE TELL ME HOW YOU DID I NEED TO HEAR FROM SOMEONE ELSE THATS BEEN THROUGH THIS THANKS
-
Oh yes, we gamble!!! Some of us anyway!!! You will be in good company!
Elizabeth, you asked about the new onc! I liked her, so far so good, but I liked my old one too. I think I have pretty high standards what I expect. She asked my why I left my old one. So I told her everything! She was like, :Oh I hope I can be what you need! " Good to hear! And the dermatologist went well too! Too stressful to book both of those appts on one day, not sure what I was thinking!!! LOL but they are behind me now.
Off to Chicago for 10 days, working on emptying my mom's house, so I will have limited internet access! I will miss you all!

There are 4 or more from our forum who would like to join the sisters in Vegas! We will give you definite numbers by your March 1 deadline. We're all Sep. 09 chemo sisters - and we were planning on a reunion this May but we were told about your sisterhood and thought that might be a fun combo. We'll keep in touch!
-
Well welcome girls - I had my last chemo in September 2009 - and joined the gal in Vegas last year - We had a ball.
-
Best wishes to you, Laura! I just read about your diagnosis today, and I'm wishing you a speedy and complete recovery. Did your doctor tell you that Retin A can help prevent skin cancer? I was told that a while ago, and wonder if it is true. Best wishes to you!
-
Kristina... no... he did not tell me this. I use the retin A daily...:) But I did not have the type of skin cancer from the sun.... it was under the skin.... anyway..... thank you for being a doll for writing to me.... you are so nice ! I will keep on using my retin A..... for wrinkles and now.... skin cancer... YAY! I will ask about this when I have the CT of the organs.....
