Heidi, good choice!  Sometimes we can stubbornly try to go with plans that are just not worth it.  Looks like you've beat that!

I have been soooooo good all week, but yesterday I had 2 parties...ended up eating a cupcake, but not just a cupcake...a homemade Paula Deen recipe for Red Velvet cupcakes with cream cheese icing.  omg, it was divine!  And lastnight I had HALF a piece of Death by Chocolate chesecake, also homemade.  These are treats I haven't had in years.  I'll have to be especially careful today as I have another event and less willpower than orginally thought.  uhhh, did I mention the wine Friday night?  Honestly, I'm so good at home, but when I'm out, I'm havin' Fun!!

Hi everybody,  it's been a bit since I posted.  I have been terrible on the eating half of this challenge.  BUT on the other side I have been getting to aerobics class and recently have started a Zumba class.  Super fun and a totally awesome work out!  If you are having difficulty getting motivated to exercise, try a zumba class. I will weigh in tomorrow morning and post the results.  I am thinking it will be the same...UGH!

Hi Monika!  I so was not on my diet with you--Since I ate all the rest of the food on your plate I am afraid to weigh myself, lol!  It was really great to meat you tooSmile

Heidi:  Good luck on your surgery today.  I forgot to weigh in yesterday--crazy busy day.  But I am going to my PS for my pre-op appointment today so I will know later when I check in.

I did weigh yesterday and am 143, so down a little. However, I was sick over the weekend (felt bad, fever of 102 and didn't eat much) so this might not be a true weight lose. Now I;ve lost my voice. Try teaching preschool and be unable to speak! Fortunately, we team teach and I'm the boss!

Good work all those who have lost weight or maintained.

So I have lost 1 pound or 2 pounds--I got weighed by the PS nurse at 10 am and then again by the pre-op team at 1 pm and I lost another pound just sitting around getting hungry for lunch.  So, on an empty stomach, with clothes on, no shoes, I now weight 158!!!

Gillyone:  Fever weight loss counts, too!!!!

Monika:  I forgot to congratulate you this morning on losing 1 pound!!!

Fighter:  Valentine's day is for cheating.  I think the only reason I didn't gain is because I was too full to eat desert!

MBJ- did you really start out at 155 and go to 160?  I hate that I got such a good start and then gained 2 lbs!  You've lost 2 since last weigh in - congrats!! Any way counts!

tnbcRuth:  Hard to believe, right?  I went kind of crazy on the no sugar, low fat (ha) ice cream and my tummy shows it!  Just have to cut out the ice cream and the bread--hard to do!

Hi gilly- I came down for an hour or so but am headed back to bed now. Leg isn't too bad (except when my Boston Terrier jumped on it--OUCH!) but I had an awful headache all day that has just started to subside. Tomorrow I can take the bandage off, which should help, since it is very restrictive. Trying to go easy on the pain meds--- don't want the nausea they can bring on.

Rough night; my leg looks like a tree trunk! Being good, doing my ROM exercises... carefully. This is the first surgery that has me regularly taking pain meds...ouch!

133 this morning, but that is today, long weekend coming up and that spells trouble for me.  Everything we do socially seems to be focused around food.    I see my radiation oncologist Tuesday, but don't go back to the Oncologist until June.  Will get hair dyed this afternoon and plan to go topless at work tomorrow.  It is supposed to get up to 60 here in Southern Maryland today and I am tired of feeling like I have a hat on my head with this wig.  I take it on and off all the time because of my hot flashes so I may as well go without it all the time.

guygirl - have fun with your hair. It is so liberating to stop wearing hats/wigs.

I feel like a slug. Or maybe a fully engorged tick. I have gained FIVE pounds since this surgery. Is that even possible?

I can't bring myself to even record it, as I choose to view it as a temporary condition. With that in mind I am going to have some Girl Scout cookies now.

I need something to make the "pain" go away.

Heidi:  I am sure the swelling alone can cause weight gain!  Hoping you heal up quickly and that you find a pain solution.

Guygirl:  Very liberating going topless!  I know what you mean about the food!  Everytime I turn around there is a birthday or a wedding or a party or a dinner.  I am forgoing wine & sugar right now and I am working on the bread but it isn't easy.

So I had my 3 month check up yesterday and I am up to 142.  I agree with you Heidi, I feel like a slug. Lol.  I finished radiation about two weeks ago and I am just tired.

Heidi, I think you deserve to take it easy and enjoy some girl scout cookies.

MBJ:  So do you completely avoid sugar?  That is so hard for me to do.  It helps if I use artifical sweeteners, but I am not sure how safe those are.

Hang in there, Heidi.  Better days are ahead once you get healed and start moving again.  I fell down the steps last June and it  took 4 or 5 months for my knee to feel better.  I really think that our bodies take longer to recooperate an injury or surgery after we have insulted it with chemo/rads/cancer in general.  Not to mention the stress that goes along with all of that.  I have been so good about exercise, I just can't get my mouth to stop accepting what my hand is shoveling in it!

Heidi - do you have lots of bandaging on your knee? That could be REALLY heavy!

gilly- not anymore (I was able to take it off after 24 hours), but I have had lots of swelling, so I'm going with MBJ's explanation. It makes sense that there would be weight in all that edema. The rest I'll have to blame on three days of inactivity and a "normal" diet. If I'm not back down to 134 in a week's time I'm gonna be bummed! I can start swimming again sometime next week. I go for my follow-up tomorrow and get the stitches out (only a few since it was arthroscopic surgery).

Never had surgery on a joint before. It's a really weird feeling. It hasn't been really painful (very achy, but not sharp pain) and the swelling makes it feel like I'm still bandaged. I played outside with my dogs a bit today, but I'm still supposed to be using the walker. As the swelling goes down the knee feels wobbly and I still have a huge limp.

Lynne:  I am trying to avoid sugar.  I don't like sweeteners as they just taste like chemicals to me but I do substitute agave & maple syrup which are better for us BC gals.  I do still have one last sugar temptation I can't seem to give up and that's my piece of dark chocolate after dinner.  Unless I make my dark chocolate coconut cookies, this is the only sugar I am having.  I will weigh in on Monday and see if I have lost anything.

Heidi:  That's great that you can start swimming so soon after surgery and that you are already getting the stitches out is a good sign!  You will be healed up in no time.
