Good by all those who made a dent in the pounds. For those of who didn't make it - as NavyMom says - tomorrow is another day. So we try hard tomorrow.

Well said Gilly!  I had a business lunch today at a really nice Italian restaurant and ordered a yummy grilled seafood salad. I walked to the restaurant in a blizzard, which I'm sure burned some calories. However, I had Tiramisu for desert. Tonight will be homemade soup and a walk on my treadmill.

Did 12 laps in the pool today and loved it! Plus, my membership is free cause my son works there part time. Such a deal! Looking forward to going again tomorrow!

I use to swim competitively as a kid. Why didn't I do this sooner?

    MJB..I can eat more often..no problem..ha ha.

So..anyway..I'm HOT alot...some one told me that my metabolism is good because of this...if it was slow I would be cold...what do you guys think?

Titan:  That might be right!  My DH is hot all of the time but he is hypoglycemic so that doesn't count.  Me, I am cold all of the time (my DH is my personal heater) and it's because I still have some adrenal issues. So, I am working on "resetting" my body temp which requires me to deliberately overheat my body so that it gets used to being warm.   Maybe then I can lose the extra pounds that seem to linger in my tummy area.

Sugar:  Tiramisu is my favorite-yum.  I wouldn't be able to pass that up either.  I have no will power when it comes to sweets.

Titan- Hot- why of course we are hot! Silly girl.

Seriously though, I am experiencing more hot flashes since treatment ended. I had an ooph 5 years ago and thought I was past most of that but, since tx ended, I seem to be having to deal with it again. Wonder what that is about?

I plan on swimming laps again tonight. This may be what tips the scale in my favor, while also loosening up my neck (one can always hope) and providing some low impact exercise after my knee surgery (Feb 15).

Heidi:  Swimming is so good for the body and like you said, much more gentle then any other type of excercise.  So glad you are able to do this even in the middle of winter!

    Hi,

Found the new thread!  Hi Mary, Titan, Sugar, Heidi, Michelle and everyone else!!

I recently had back surgery and its still not doing well, so the most exercise I can do is a slow around the block and my floor physical therapy exercises :(  I used to be so freaking active, this is killing me.  Anyway, I am doing upper body with 3lb weights from time to time and that's about it.  Everyone seems to really be working hard - that is wonderful!  I feel a real committment and don't mind posting my #'s.

At 5'6" and very small boned, my highest weight was 157, all brought on by bc sh*t.  When Heidi mentioned this, I had just begun monitoring my intake and just started cooking again.  I've been doing South Beach (no carbs) and I'm at 148, woo hoo!!  9lbs in 2 months is about right I think.  For some of you that aren't losing lbs, remember you're building up muscle that weighs more.  I have at least 20 more to go, so hope I don't get derailed!  I joined a rescue group and got a rescue dog on Thursday that I am fostering until adoption.  He is recovering from heartworm treatment, so he can only walk 1 block too :)  Then we rest on the sofa!  Perfect match :)

My 2 best diet tips:  1.  Limit your food selections as much as you can...offer your palate fewer options.  Its said to 'tame the beast'.    2.  Select 15 foods good for you that you really like and make them as many ways as you can.  Ex.-cooked cabbage/cole slaw/cabbage soup or scrambled eggs/quiche/hard boiled egg.  You get the idea~

Wow Ruth--- good for you! I just bought some one piece bathing suits today. Unless I get at least 5 pounds off I'm not sure I should be seen in a 2 piece. I'm hoping the swimming I have started will have an effect.

And yes, I do get the idea... they are good ones!

I need new jeans...I have ONE pair that fit me..my size 8's won't fit over my hips...DANG! (I didn't buy new ones today though I thought about it)...

Bring on the cabbage...though I dunno...my DH has enough "air"..not sure if we need more.

Oh and yes..of course we are HOT!  That's what I'm talking about Heidi.

Ruth:  Great diet tips!  My DH almost killed me the last go around because we were eating the same foods over and over.  Even though I prepared them in different ways, it got old.  However, we did lose pounds!

I gained back that pound I lost last week.  I am so mad at myself.  The food was wonderful.  Everything just tastes so good now that my taste buds are back.  Need to get focused and do it already.

Add me to the list of disappointed. I'm up 2 today also, but I know it's because of all the juice I drank yesterday after my beach drive (see the link I posted on our other TN thread), so I'll probably be back down to 134 again tomorrow.

My problem is that I am not taking this seriously. I know my weight is good where it is, but I'd like to look better in my two piece suits this summer. However, being a realist I went out and bought 4 one piece suits this weekend-- black and white-- to go with my Boston Terriers and horses!

I'm hoping the swimming I've started will give me a boost.

Another one getting nowhere, but I echo Heidi in thinking I have not been serious enough about it.  I am exercising more, but I definitely put more calories in than I use in a day.

Ha ha...all of you...I guess we need to take this seriously but I have to admit that well..losing weight is ALOT OF WORK!  Most of us were thin or not overweight b-4 chemo..now we have pounds to lose...the doctors tell us to eat, eat, eat during chemo..so we do..For me that was like a green light..eat everything in sight so I could make it through chemo..so I ate 24/7.now I/we are paying the price..plus if we went through menopause..it is just tough.

Anyway..put me down Heidi..same as last week..after shrimp, salsa, wings. sausage dip, ham sandwiches, scalloped potatoes last night for super bowl..well..I'm just stuffed.

    ROTFLMAO

BTW, I had read that dark chocolate was high in anti-oxidants. Unfortunately, I prefer milk chocolate.

Ugh!!! The good news first?  I have just graduated to 6 months between Onc appointments.  The bad news?  I gained and I now weigh in at 160.  Must have been the coconut ice cream.  And the chocolate cookies.  And the beer.  Guess it's time to get serious.
