Hi there.  I was wondering if anyone else has ended up with mononucleosis after their initial treatment.  I just found out yesterday, that I have it and did a search connected to breast cancer and am now freaking out. I called and left a message for my Oncologist, but thought maybe some of you know if it is unusual. I am off work for 2 weeks to try and get well.  UGGG!

You're probably seriously run down from treatment.  Do what you can to get your immune system ship shape.  Maybe go see a naturopath, or check out the alternative girls thread and ask for advice there.  Good luck, be well!

I haven't heard of anyone with bc getting mono, but it makes sense. Our immune systems are seriously compormised. I got shingles during tx - same kind of idea.

Thanks for the responses.  It makes me feel better.  You would think I would be getting back to normal my now with the immune system, but chemo was especially hard on me. I wonder if anyone else still have troubles with  their immune system a 1 1/2 years past chemo?

I just want my life back!!!!!

I asked my onc a couple months ago about my immune system.  I thought his explanation was good.  He said that we get the quantities back up but the quality takes longer.  So even when our blood counts look better, the quality of their fighting effect takes longer to build back.  I have this vision of little muscle men flowing through my blood and that they need to keep getting some exercise so they'll be there when I need them.
