Parabens, Phthalates and Mineral Oils

Parabens are an estrogen mimic, they are preservatives that are widely used and are the leading cause of dermatitis, and is linked to skin cancer.

• Phthalates are used as emulsifiers in products, and used in perfumes. Phthalates damage sperm which can lead to infertility and is also linked to mis-carriages, birth defects, and cancer in offspring.  Manufacturers are not required to list phthalates on product labels, so they're difficult to avoid.  

Mineral Oil is also called liquid petroleum, it's based from crude oil.  The application of four popular moisturizers increased the incidence of skin cancer in mice who were irradiated twice a week for 20 weeks.  A fifth moisturizer, specially prepared without mineral oil had no such effect.
