Seaside - I know what you mean. You do everything right and nothing happens! Good luck to all of us this week!
-
((((Ainm)))) CONGRATULATIONS.
Ainm...When you call me my captain I LOL.
Your sense of humor is priceless.
Many many more celebrations my sister Roadrunner.
♥

ronqt1...Welcome to Roadrunners.
-
Whooohoooooo!!!!!!
We hummingbirds have a new hummer!!!!
Welcome to the team, Seaside!!!
We're so glad to have ya!!
We get more points for exercise and for liquid consumption, than we can possibly get from a drop in weight -- so log those minutes & drink those glasses of water!!!!
Eventually the scale comes into agreement with the increased activity and the fewer morsels.
My own experience is that the scale lags behind by about two weeks or more.
Keep at it, birdies!!!
Keep at it, hummers!!!!
Simple equation: eat LESS, move MORE!!!!
Rinse and repeat.
Rinse and repeat.
Rinse and repeat.
-
Meece, sorry to make corrections already, and I wish my new posted weight was right. But last week I gained 1.4 lbs (not lost 1.6). So I started this week at 188.4 and am working to take that back off. Thanks for all you do!
-
Ainm,
Congrats on your 2-YEAR milestone!! And fabulous news that you can now get on with your reconstruction if you choose to do so!
Mimi1964,
My father-in-law had a 98% carotid artery blockage and had surgery for it. It is quite a serious surgery but, he came through with flying colors!!! He has had no problems with that ever since... I pray that the same is true for your husband!
Faithandfifty,
Thank you for the warm welcome!! I am surely going to do my best to make my new team mates proud!!
PS... Also doesn't hurt if I can drop a couple pounds!
-
Fathie were you ever a cheer leader? your posts always make me grin
-
o2bhealthy, you took the words out of my mouth - Faithie is a great cheerleader (and she's on the wrong team - should be a Roadrunner, but we'll forgive her that!)
Welcome Ronna. Ainm, let us know how you make out.
Mimi - prayers for your DH.
Hi to all. So far the week is going pretty well; could be better but everything takes time.
Let's go ROADRUNNERS!
-
Ainm, congratulations on the 2 years! That's wonderful news...
Fixed double for my meal tonight so I can take the left overs for lunch tomorrow. I have a late app't and won't be home until nearly 10 PM so my lunch will be my main meal. Trying to figure out what to eat on the run for supper... that's always the hard part.
My weight has stayed the same so far this week. Having the new scale has helped keep me on track.
-
Seaside thanks for the encouraging words. My hubby's surgery is now scheduled for Thurs, the 20th at 11:00 a.m. central time. He will stay overnight in the hospital.
I saw my doctor today and they removed the rest of my stitches from my reconstruction I had done. Owwweee is all I can say after being in there a month!! I had some stitch abcesses. Anyway they told me I have to wait 2 more weeks before I can start exercising, treadmill, extreme dieting and lifting more than 10 lbs. YUCK! So I am still doing the diet thing but in moderation... right now just trying to drink the water and walk further when I park my car and not sit so much and move more. This has definitely been a challenge.
For all of you Robins I am so sorry that I had to step down as your leader... I did not expect my husband to have to have surgery right now. But he needs me and I am also at a disadvantage because I have not been fully released to participate a 100% in the weight loss at the point though I am trying.
Renee

Faith...thanks for the reminder. I was at Tom's all weekend, helping take care of him. I was sick though...so didn't do so much for him, except get him sick. I am soooo sorry...I still have yet to get on the scale...I am sure most of that is not just busy..but procrastination...and afraid of what it will tell me!
Still feeling bad...finally scheduled an apt with the doctor on Thursday. This pain in my head, and nausea and just major fatigue is getting old. I need to get to the bottom of it. So...I will try and get my weight on here after the doctor apt. YUCK!
Following week I will be in sunny Arizona for about 5 days with my honey!! much needed for us both!
xoxo
Lisa

Renee. I'm glad that your husband's surgery is already scheduled. Prayers for him and you as you support him. Praying that his medical team is top-notch.
Lisa-3girls. Glad to hear that you're getting into the doctor. Hope that they have answers directly. Just keep telling yourself, "information is power." Find out the number and let's fill in the blank. Glad to hear from you, because that's the first step!!!!!
It's so funny ya friends would let me be called a cheerleader!! LOL.
All thru Jr. High and Hi School I thought that those were the cool girls. I was such the geek. Always on the outskirts of anything in the in-crowd.
So I guess it's never too late to be who you wanna be. I'll take the pom-poms and continue the cheering -- in an effort to fill my adolescent fantasy.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
-
Ainm ~ Such great news about your clear mamm!!!
And, CONGRATS on your 2-yr cancerversary! You go, Girl!
(hugs)
-
I am glad we are all still on board and gaining momentum. Way to go, birdies!!!!
-
Oh, Zogo, in the past year, I always posted the "all time low" as the lowere weight, and haven't shown the ups. I hope this is okay with everyone.
-
Seaside-Welcome! It is frustrating to do everything right and still not lose weight. I Personally like to blame the Arimidex and Lupron for that. But, I also keep telling myself that I won't be on these meds forever, and if I develop the good habits now, I'll see the weight magically disappear after I come off them. It may be wishful thinking, but it helps me deal with the frustration.
Ronqt1-Welcome to the RoadRunners! We may not be as pretty as the hummingbirds but we're mighty and have a lot of fun!
Faith-you've got me using the "Rinse and repeat" line now! It's so versatile and sooooo true most of the time! You are a GREAT cheerleader!
Ainm-CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 2 YEAR CANCERVERSARY!!!!!!!!!
Samsue-great planning! Way to go! I do a lot better when I do menu planning. I can take into account when I need to brown bag meals, when I'll be home early enough that I'll have energy to cook, when to best make use of the slow cooker or a reheated meal. The best benefit is that my grocery bill is lower when I menu plan! Who'd a thunk it?
Mimi-I can't imagine how anxious you and your hubby are feeling right now, I'm praying that all goes well. As far as exercising, remember that the restrictions are part of the healing process and are there for a reason. Following the restrictions now is hard ( I had DIEP recon in June) but you actually recover quicker over all if you follow instructions. It's frustrating. Hang in there. And I admire you for stepping down from leadership of the Robins and concentrating on your hubby. It take guts to step aside for the good of the group and to focus on yours and your hubby's needs. Please stay in touch as much as you can, we ALL, not just the Robins, care about you and your hubby!
My3girls-I hope you find out what's going on and it has a simple cause, easy to fix. Maybe a dose of Arizona sunshine is all you need?
Has anyone else experienced a ripple effect from this thread? I'm noticing that I'm thinking more about almost EVERYTHING I do in terms of the impact on my long term health. Things like cleaning out the car so there are fewer things to fly around if I'm in an accident (I was in a rollover a couple years ago, totaled the car, no real injuries despite full soda cans flying around and breaking both windshields). Or putting together everything I'm going to need to take with me the next morning by the door. I love unexpected benefits! -
Wow. Do I LOVE that silhouette!!!!
I feel 30 pounds lighter and 35 years younger!!!
What if we all "BELIEVED" that our wise choices would make a difference? What if we really, truly "BELIEVED" that making right choices, right decisions, right actions would spell success?
What if we really "KNEW" that by following Ainm's example we could eat less & move more and find ourselves getting into fantastic shape, fantastic clothes, fantastic attitudes??
What if we truly "KNEW" that if by taking a more active role in our own lives -- like NativeMaine is pointing out above, we would feel unexpected benefits? A greater calm. A greater sense of peace. A greater sense of committment. A greater sense of organization. What if?
What if we could see-the-scale 6 months from now -- after 6 months of dedicated good choices, stacked on top of each other like firewood, one at a time, over and over and over and over again -- would we get excited today about taking a wise action on our own behalf??
Go for it!!!!!!
Balance and moderation!
Eat less, move more.
-
Not only is Faith our cheerleader but our resident Motivational Speaker!
Luv ya Faith!
Trish
-
Faithie motivates us all (even though she's on the wrong team).
For those of you apologizing for not being able to fully participate because of 'things' going on with health for you and your family, it is not necessary to apologize. We are all here for you and the fact that you ccontinue to come and try, whatever you are physically and emotionally able to do, is good.

My new GastroEnterologist gave me an rx to help my plumbing. I aam hoping that if I can fix this, things will go better in the weight loss realm. I have been "stress eating" last week and have been trying to put a sztop to that. Last night we had a birthday dinner for FDIL. We tried to prepare her favorite "American" dishes. Strawberry soup, tri-tip, twice baked potatoes, asparagus with hollandaise, rolls and a brownie cake. Although I could have done better, I had one helping of each and stopped. I used lite sour cream and margerine, no salt. Little ways to make myself feel better about not eating diwet food..
-
I'm trying to eat healthy while I'm home sick; today I managed to fix a taco salad for lunch - low fat beef, salsa as dressing, only 2 tablespoons of cheese, no sour cream or guacamole. It was fine and filling enough. Lots of tangerines, although I just ran out, bananas, cherries and vegetables. I'm out of potato chips, so that's good! I may not make it back to the gym on Friday, as I'm still down with pneumonia - x-ray came back as slight case, with some OPD signs, too - that's not good for a non-smoker. Could just be my asthma flaring. Had to postpone my onc visit today for 3 weeks - first available that I can make it to. Still pouring down the aqua, as that's the only thing I CAN do!
-
bookart,
Pneumonia can be rough! My son had a case of walking pneumonia quite a few years back and I know the doctor said, he will need to be cautious when he gets any future upper-respiratory infections as he would be more prone to pneumonia from then on.
Thankfully, he has not had another bout with that!
Take good care of yourself and hope you feel better soon!
-
faithandfifty,
Thank you for your inspiring post this morning! Couldn't get on till this evening but it really brightened my morning coffee.
Reminded me of a favorite quote of mine :
"If you can imagine it, you can achieve it; if you can dream it, you can become it."
Believing that I could quit smoking helped me through some rough patches when I was doing that (celebrated 1 year smoke-free yesterday) and I believe the same will be true as I struggle with my weight!
Thanks for all of the support here!!
-
NativeMainer,
YES! I have noticed a ripple affect! Posting here has made me make better choices in what I eat. On days that I just really am NOT feeling like exercising, I do it because I am accountable here!
BUT, unexpectedly, I have found myself cleaning out closets and getting rid of a lot of STUFF that I just don't need anymore and can be of use to others! Guess my closets are part of E-LAB, too because they are getting lighter!!
-
Meece,
Disruption in the functioning of the plumbing was an unfortunate, but temporary, side-effect of quitting smoking but, did make things soooo uncomfortable!
Hope your new gastro doc gets it figured out and that you have relief soon!
Strawberry soup sounds wonderful!!
-
SeasideMemories - thanks for the motivation post. It does help to come here.
Bookart - take care of yourself; that comes first.
It's almost Friday - hang in there everyone.
-
I have been cleaning closets and cabinets, too. My house is getting "thinner" and more fit. That is a good Side Effect of e-Lab.
-
Hello to my new team-mates the Roadrunners!
What a great bunch of women!!!
Faith, thanks for the reminder about the long-range view. That will keep me out of the snack crackers DH bought last week. I should not let that man go shopping!
I should not eat anything that isn't spelled correctly, for example 'Cheez-It'
I work in downtown Madison, our state capitol, and walked today in the Capitol building with a co-worker who's doing weight watchers and wants to move more. We chatted and the time flew by. Tomorrow another woman will join us, maybe we started something (good) at work! It's just too cold to walk outside, but we will once the weather gets nicer.
Seaside, congrats on a year quit!! {{hugs}} to all

WW is the best way to loose weight, My oncologist approves of that type of eating.
