MLK day is not for a couple more days but I saw this and thought it was wonderful.

Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the
well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's
punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on
our soul when we look the other way.

Failure does not exist. Failure is simply someone else's opinion of how a certain act should have been completed. Once you believe that no act must be performed in any specific other-directed way, then failing becomes impossible.

Happy Sunday everyone.  I hope you will all have a good day today, whatever you do.  Very overcast today......so I'm thinking sun knowing it won't be any time soon.  Rain for tomorrow turning to an ice storm I think.  Oh joy.  Well this is after all winter.

Hope to have a quieter day today -- lots of book work on my list.

    Thinking of you all.

    Hugs, Jackie

Morning all!  Am gearing up to watch the Bears game this afternoon.  Go Bears!   Last night  watched the Packers game.  My BIL is a huge Packers fan and was in heaven.  He of course wants the Bears to play the Packers in the SuperBoal.

Hope everyone is feeling well today!.  Stay warm.

    Love to all,

I'm getting headaches all the time.. today shooting ones.. I am thinking it's scanxiety.. but I think after I get my CLEAN CT this week, I'll ask for an MRI.. maybe... :(

Stay warm everyone and enjoy a cozy day indoors.. I hear snow tomorrow.. YUCK..

Carolyn, you sound great and yes I am sitting here watching the Bears game.  Wendy is probably watching an old movie and Blackjack is probably cleaning her house.  The DH's are watching footfall all day!

I actually do not mind.  I have  the dreaded, awful, hideous colonoscopy tomorrow.  I scheduled it for the holiday tomorrow as the courts are closed so I have my driver.   I am so much a wuss about this stuff.

Speaking of the holiday, Jackie, the quote of MLK is so timely  what with the very disturbed man who rampaged in Tuscon.  Good heavens, how could teachers ignore that stuff. It is so hard to get anything done quickly in our schools today as there are so many hoops to go through.  The quote really says it all.....We just need to do better in our schools to acknowledge cries of help....if we do not......well look what happened.

Marina, I think an MRI might set your mind at peace, but I understand your dread dealing with it.  Look at Julie.  A week ago she was in a bad spot and now the girl is living it up in NOLA.  That has been the most ruthless thing about the dx.  One loses ones innocence and every side effect taunts  us.  You have so much going on, it is no wonder you have headaches......colds, travel, a baby, teenagers, appointments.  When all these settle down, I bet so will the headaches.

    Bears are way ahead.

Susan ---- I'm not sure I have ALL that much wisdom to help get you over the hump but I did see a quote a while back:

To wish to be well is part of becoming well.

           - Seneca

I do happen to think colonoscopy's are rather dreadful --- but I watched my Aunt pass away from colon cancer.  This beautiful, cheerful, kind word to everyone woman whom I adored all of my life. They did not find out till almost the bitter end and she only made it two and a half months from the time she found it.  So quickly it seemed she was house bound, and from there so quickly again in a hospital bed and by that time nearly comatose for the remainder of a life ending way too soon for myself and all the others who loved her so dearly too.

So Susan --  you are doing this for the benefit of yourself because you wish to stay well and in fulfilling this obligation to yourself......you are saving everyone --- family and friends included  -- from second guessing themselves as to why they should have cared enough to make sure this procedure took place so they could continue sharing your inner strength and genuine loving strong heart.  You are doing their and your karma so much good............it is a loving, healing, act of kindness for yourself, your husband, and your whole family.  You are setting the best example of taking active care of your own health so all of you as a family can share a wonderful life.

I am hoping ( I thought I heard something of this a while ago though I would think your area should be well in the forefront ) that they come up with something that is a bit easier all around for everyone.

I definitely think it is hard to be and feel dignified with a procedure such as this one but I look on it as I looked on most of my chemo........it is a brief time out of my life so that I might continue to stay in my life.  All of your friends here as well as your family wish you to have a long, healthy as possible life.  You have to cross some rivers to get there.  You have to endure some rain.  At the end of your procedure is a rainbow and you will have earned it while teaching the rest of your family that they too.......can stay well and happy and continue to live for each other.  I am wishing you a rainbow full of health my beautiful friend.

    Hugs, Jackie

Thanks jackie.....that really does help.   What helps the most is that you agree  the treatment is dreadul.  I felt so silly being so hung up about the  issue when other people are dealing with life and death issues, that I went back to delete part of my wussiness.  You got to it before I did and I am glad.

In 24 hours this will be over!  So thanks!  My dad died of colon cancer and so I guess I am grateful we have this  procedure.

Susan if it makes you feel any better I have to schedule mine. My onc wants me to have one… and I'm turning 50 sooner than I'd like to admit I do for my first. My maternal grandmother passed away from colon cancer in her mid-late 60s so this is something I won't take a pass on.

I figures it best to wait till chemo was over .

Hi to all the new people. Hope you all are doing well.

    -----------------

I'm a little bit nervouce  I'm having eye problems again.  This time it's my right eye.  It keeps flickering and now it hurts to read anything.  My sister suggested that I take an extra medicine for seizures.  I took it but it doesn't seem to be helping. Instead, I'm getting a headache.  Oh well.  I guess I'll try talking to my sister, however, she has a house full of sick kids today:(

Carolyn are you doing any chemo? I know that I have eye flickers from taxtotere. Maybe its one of your other drug SE…  I haven't found anything to stop it either. And yes it's very annoying. Hopefully you don't get in both eyes. When I get it in both they tend to be out of sink.

Happy Sunday to all...Boy I am soooo tired. Went to the city this am to look at apts with dd. Some were pretty awful inside. Pictures are so deceiving as she is learning. Did find a really cute /clean 2 br/ 2 bath with a parking space In a garage no less whooo, but the rent was a bit high . Hoping the real estate girl can ask the owner for a lower rent. So the hunt is still on for a place to live. Did get home in time to watch the bears game. GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes I  did do laundry, picked up the house and made a yummy pot roast that is baking as we speak for dinner. Now it is time for me to rest.

Carolyn...I am glad to see you are so upbeat but sorry to hear about your flickering eye. It could be just the nerves in your eyes that are having spasms. If they do not get better or go away please let your md know. You may need an eye exam.

Susan....so happy to be off tomorrow. Yes I did my coloy thing in Oct. No big deal. Things turned out fine and so will yours. Yes you will be here for a very long time. So don't fret about it. lol Loved the secret garden theme. Can I see it some day.

Jackie...loved the MLK qoute. How are your babies doing? Did you get to have many adopted this week. I took my lab this week to Pet smart and they have every Sat. adopt a dog day. So many dogs there , some were puppies, but lots of mix breeds. Wishing them all good homes.

Lago...how are you feeling. You should be near the end too. whoooo. time to do the happy dance.

Elf....hope you can come for lunch tomorrow. Sparkles are a must. lol

Makmak....glad to see that you got home safe from your trail. Hope your ha go away soon. Glad to see that baby loves her swim lessons.

Joan...thanks for the reflex info. I need to call soon. Just don't have a free day yet esp on  a Sat. But when I get one I will call. maybe lunch.

Laura...send you that FL. info via email. Happy looking.

Rita....leaving for FL soon. I am soooo jealous. We need hot sun now. I am really getting tired of this snow. Need the beach and the cabana boys. lol

Hope everyone is doing well with their txs. Remember the happy dance is almost here for you!!

Gotta scoot. Dinner's buzzing. Have a great evening...stay warm.

Oh my....Elf I love your avatar.  Your hair is getting so long again.  Wish you were not having the swelling in your arm etc.  Hopefully, you will have too good a time tomorrow to even notice it much.  Hope you give a hug to Dh for being so sweet to watch the little ones while you have a little lunch R & R.  What a great guy.

We did do a fair amt. of adoptions quite recently......8 dogs and 6 cats.  Hope the incoming slow down so we can do a little bit more catching up.  We are just getting where we are not bulging at the seams.

Bj.....I think I can detect dinner from here and it's a very 'yummy' smell.

Well, I have to run.....I'm bushed again.  How is this happening. I know there is a chair waiting for me so I'm going to go find it.  See you in the morning.

Thank goodness for a great morning.  Rather than the ice storm they have switched it over to rain....sigh --- salt and mud, salt and mud --- but I really didn't want an ice storm so I am happy about that.  Tues. may bring more snow as  most of ours will be melted/washed away.  That is ok as it isn't looking too good anyhow.

Hope you all will have a great ( schools closed ) Monday.  I'm doing an extra day today at HOH.  Going to be a delightful day spent with so many of my favorite furry friends.  See you all later.

Good afternoon everyone!  Haven't checked in for a few days so I've been catching up on everyone this morning. Got the results from my PET scan last week and it wasn't too bad.  No changes - the SUV in the hip is still at 3.5 and the spots on the lung haven't changed any since the scan I had done in August.  Will stay on the Zometa and Faslodex monthly and see onc in three months.  (Three more months for my hair to grow yeah!!)

Lago- congrats to you on your last chemo tomorrow!!  I've been reading your posts on another thread and totally agree with you... you go girl!!

Adey- your going to be "de-ported" today or is it tomorrow?  So happy for you (and jealous)!

Wendy- finally started to read the newest S King!  Finished the first story and will be starting the next tonight if everything goes according to plan. I would've gotten further along yesterday but I had to watch the Bears game then the Blackhawks were on after that!!

Everyone be safe in this winter wonderland today.  It looks likes the snow is started to slow down now.. I would still rather have the snow than the sleet (but I would prefer about 70 degrees right now).

Laura --  that was cute.  liked it.

Yea Adey -- a red letter day for sure, and Carolyn, hope your eye does straighten out.  Your working hard to 'get there' and hopefully quite soon you will be.  Hugs to you and sis and all your family.

Still wet here....interesting as most yesterday and today so far is that drizzle that is only barely more than nothing.....more like super heavy mist.  They do say a drop in temps. and snow.  We dodged the ice it seems so I don't mind.

Full day today at House of Hope.  A couple of appts. to show animals, some people coming in for a talk --- and always the usual.....loving and caring for good friends.

I hope you will all have a great day.....and big hi to everyone that I didn't mention.....Rita, Wendy, Jan, Navy, Susan, Marcia, Lauren, Char, Elf, Bj, Same Day ----  you are the sparkle and spice in all my thoughts.

Addy and Lago....YOU DID IT!  It wasn't easy but you saw it through (and you were physically able to see it through) so now recognize that you did what you needed to do to meet this beast head-on.

Navy mom.....soak in those rays.  The weather is hideous here.

My colon---crappity---oscopy went fine.  I was hoping I could schedule it every five years now, but he wants the three year thingy because of my BC history and my family history (paternal side is riddled with it).  Jackie, I do feel good about myself for doing it as I hate it and I do think it shows my family that it is important to do these ugly things.  Lago, I know you will do this soon.  It is really not that awful, it is just personally hard for me.  The stuff you have to drink makes me feel sick, but I concocted this new  way of getting "the medicine to go down".  When you get closer to scheduling it, let me know as I have this system and it worked for me this time.  It involves crushing  mints, using a straw, taking a swig and then REPEAT!
