lago - LOL - That youtube...too funny! Bwaaaah! Sorry you had to deal with the gangbangers...been there done that!
Congrats on your LAST tx! Way to go!---------------------------
Was supposed to have lunch with Carolyn and Onward today, but instead spent a good portion of the day driving to Chicago to bring my sis home from the hospital. Months ago she had knee surgery. While recooping, she developed a Pulmonary Embo (actually I think there was 2 of them). Was taking Coumadin. Over the weekend, she started having trouble breathing. Went to ER. Now she's taking a steriod. I had to pick her up and bring her home. Her breathing is better, but still not good. I really feel bad for her. She has BEEN THROUGH HELL. Prayers/thoughts appreciated.
Hope you're all tucked in for the night. It's chilly and damp out there. If you must go out tonight, please be safe.
Carolyn - I'll call you tomorrow. Sorry I had to cancel. Did you and Onward meet? Hope so!
-
Addy - CONGRATS to you! You did it!
-
Congrats to Addy and Lago..........YEA!!!!!
Navy Mom....what part of FL are you in? I'm heading south on the 28th and going to Fort Myers Beach. I'm so ready to get out of this weather.
Zap...glad the colonoscopy is over for you. I need to think about that, too. Yuk!
Laura, glad you sis is doing better. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers!
Elf, I love your picture on your avatar. Your hair is awesome, gal!
Jackie, we had a light mist coming down when I came home from yoga. It could cause problems in the morning if it freezes over night.
Well, I'm heading for the spa. My joints are aching tonight.

Hi Laura, Sorry to hear about your sister. I will keep her in my prayers.
Onward and I did not go to lunch today. It's probably just as well. I have a cold so I'm glad that I didn't get everyone sick. We can do lunch another day. As I said in the message I left you - family comes first - not to worry.
Take Care! Love to all!

Quick Chemo question I have developed redness on my poor swollen face by both sides of my cheeks. It's been a few days but since I have #10 today I figured it could wait till I saw the doctor today. Any ideas. It does not itch, does not seem to be raised, it kind of looks like that rosacia? that I have seen on commercials. Onward
Laura, prayers are going out for your family. Did have a long talk with Carolyn but since we didnt touch base until it was too late we will reschedule. And Carolyn WILL remember to take her cell phone when she goes out. lol. Onward

Hi Onward,
Decadron can cause some skin reactions. I got my old acne back after my first chemo, and still fighting it at sixty five and a half! Medicare does not recognize it, and I told my dermatologist he should write me up for a medical journal. Hope that you get an answer today. and wishing the fewest se's for you.
Elf, your family is so beautiful! Enjoyed lunch with you and BJ last Monday. Those little guys are sure lively, and you must have fun every day. Hope your hand is better, too.
Hugs to all.

"Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human
mind. To the fearful it, is threatening because it means that things
may get worse. To the hopeful, it is encouraging because things
may get better. To the confident, it is inspiring because there
exists the challenge to make things better. Change is inevitable;
how it is approached makes all the difference in the world."

onward I developed rocasea a month just before my cancer diagnosis in April. It was red and bumpy not quite as bad as WC Fields but he had rocasea too. I have a precription that works really well although if you look at my nose it's still a little red. It doesn't sound like you have that but I do know of some folks on this forum that did develop rocasea with chemo. Mine didn't get worse.
smerf my mom has rocasea too. Medicare does cover that. You might get your doctor to call it that so you can get some medication to cover it. If I remember one of us IL gals gets her doc to do that.
-
onward - Before you take ANOTHER prescription drug, you may want to check out some natural remedies. I'm curious to hear what your Dr. says about it. And hopefully, it's just a temporary s/e. Here's a link to a discussion forum for Rosacea info:

Carolyn - Hope you're feeling better today.
Rita - You're going to FL! That's great!
HI TO EVERYONE! Have a nice Wednesday!
-
Hi everybody.
Rita-I am in Ft Myers beach right now. Next to Diamond Head resort. We will be leaving on Sat. to drive to Jupiter and then back to Jacksonville before we head home. We come to the same place every year. I just love this area.
Talk to you all soon.
Carolyn-glad to hear that you are getting out. Thinking of you.

Navy - I was just looking on line at real estate in Coral Gables, FL...not far from Ft. Myers. Enjoy your day there!

Good morning, Ladies, My name is Marybe and I am sure I know some of you from other threads and maybe some of you recognize my name from posts. I am coming to Chicago near the end of Feb. for the Midwinter Dental Meeting (yes, terrible time of year, but for some reason it is one of the best attended meetings) and I created a post asking if perhaps some fellow BCO posters would want to get together for dinner while I am there....no response and I was feeling rather bad about it since I was certain someone must live in Chicago or the area. Then today I heard from Iago and she told me to put a post on this thread. So do any of you want to join us? I am staying at the Palmer House and the meeting is at McCormick Place....Thurs or Friday evening would be best for me since I am going back home on the Megabus Sat. late afternoon and am not arriving until late Wed. evening. I could even do brunch on either of those days because on Thurs and Friday, I don't have any classes until 1:30 in the afternoon unless I get into this one I was shut out of and am on a waiting list for on Thurs, titled Why are Women Strange and Men Weird? It was a complete sellout....small wonder and I really hope I can get into it. Look forward to possibly meeting you. Marybe
-
Marybe-- I will most likely join in! A reminder here mid Feb would be great. Look forward to meeting you and Lago in person. Can't wait to see what restaurant you pick Lago! (c:
P.S. Port gone, a wee bit sore but feels great and it's true... the SEs from the last are easier to deal with because you never have to have them again. I am two weeks out and starting to feel normalish and am giddy to think NO MORE! (c:
-
Adey I think we will be limited to the downtown area since that is where Mary is staying but if there's not to may of us I can meet at her hotel and drive us all. She said something about pizza but we might be able to convince her to do Chinatown, Thai, Indian, Korean etc. Not sure about her tastes. She might even want to do Carson's Ribs.
BTW for breakfast I would highly recommend The Bongo Room (south loop or bucktown) or Meli cafe (greektown) All 3 have long waits on the weekend but not as bad during the week. They serve breakfast all day long but only open till 2 or 3 pm.
Both places serve lunch dishes but the Bongo room does not on weekends. I'm not a huge breakfast eater since I don't like eggs. I do find teh Bongo room's french toast a bit over the top for me.
-
I cannot make a commitment for dinner yet, but I know I would love to see you two and meet Marybe...so MARYBE...I am a MAYBE! I will be back to fulltime and I have to see how that all weighs in. I met the class yesterday and the kids are great, so it should all be good.
Smerf, good to hear from you.
Rita, you mentioned painful joints. I do not have painful joints but my darling DH does. I just read that an EPSOM SALT bath is very soothing. I shower always and the idea of a bath is foreign to me, but you might want to try this home remedy. You can buy this huge jug of Epsom salts. I wonder, however, if the salts would not dry the skin. I will experiment ion DH and let you know.
Edited to add......how about the old Berghoff (sp). I checked out the Russian Tea but is is soooooo pricey so forget that.

DD and I are looking for vacay a sit by the pool trip in May. I thought of New Mexico. Florida will not work as we have so many relatives there and they would expect us to visit all day (and not pooliside either). THEN I thought of Las Vegas which brought me back to my Illinois Girfirends who go there often (BJ and Connie). Can you suggest a hotel I can look into in Las Vegas. We need a pool. Thanks! Rita, I am not sure if you go to las Vegas or not.
-
About the Epson salts --- don't know how drying they may be......if not used too often I would think ok, but I have some lavender salts that I got from Wal-Mart to try....just haven't gotten around to it.
Jackie
-
Hi everyone! Since I pretty much live in the bathtub every night soaking my weary bones, I think I've pretty much tried all of the epson salts there are.
Jackie- I do have the lavender salts from Walmart - I was shocked at the strong smell, when I opened the package - not quite what I expected - not lavender IMHO. Also tried a different kind of bath stuff (don't remember the name though). They were in a clear jar and said for " aches and pains." They maybe working since the back doesn't seem to be so back today (or if that the Vicodin finally working ?). But these really have a strong smell - clears up the sinuses as well - kind of like a Vicks Vaporub/Ben Gay smell. Hey if it works I'll give it a shot!

Good afternoon~!
Welcome to the new ladies and hope everyone is doing well..
Adey- I am happy for you~!! you did it~! you gotta do the happy dance every single day~!
BJ & Smerf- it was good to see you on Monday~! It was messy day to drive anywhere but I am glad I did.. Oh, guess what, my kids wants to see you ladies again... they like you so much.. My older son told me to get a pant like Smerf..

I've been looking at the houses on-line near the Minneapolis, MN... That's where dh started out with the company his working for and he wants to go back and be a conductor again.. It will be a lot less stress for him and his schedule will be much more flexible and he will have more time to spend with me and the kids.. I don't mind, as long as he is happy and no stress for him.. So, we are gonna take vacation to go house hunting next month in MN.. He did 14 interviews since past summer and he didn't get any and he didn't even get a feed back which would been nice.. He is gonna keep trying and see if he can get any because if you get the position you applied then company will move us which what we are hoping for that's the way we don't have to use our own money to move to MN which will cost us a lot... Oh, well, we'll see what happen but we are pretty much made our mind to move back to MN end of March..
P.S-- does anyone know the good suburb to live near the Minneapolis?? we are looking at the Maple Grove.. anywhere else we should look into??
-
Well.. You guys know me.. IF Laura is driving, I'll be there..
Would love to meet up downtown in February to meet Marybe whos story I know quite well from Stage IV boards.. and...to celebrate my....
NED!!!
Yes, I had my scan today.. and had a 'complete clinical response' and no evidence of metastatic disease!! Just had my herceptin and asked to get it infused slower, and no cough.. so a good day today.. Sushi today, tomorrow and Friday for me!!
-
MakMak NED/complete response is awesome news.I remember our conversation as we were leaving the holiday party. I think it was something about there are new drugs out there and no one can really tell you when it's your time. I'm so happy for you. This is such great news.
I needed to hear this today. Last night I just found out my friend's sister past away from hodgkin's lymphoma on Friday. Her dad is also fighting lung cancer. I love hearing positive stories like yours. It give me hope.
BTW the sushi is awesome news too. I'm a little jealous.
-
Makmak.......oh, this is thebest news yet! I just cannot believe it NED, NED, NED.....I am so happy.
-
Scrapbook --- thanks for the info on the Epson salts.....If I try them soon I won't hopefully find it too much of a shock. I think that other thing ---- I have been tempted since I saw it --- sorry for the name " Tired Old Ass Soak" or something to that effect. We have taken that catalog for a long time as they hunt down things that you could buy years ago that people loved and you cant''tget any more. One of those things is Spoolies --- those rubber thingys you could roll your hair on and I did nightly......and very quickly. Also that shampoo " Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific" along with hundreds of other things. It is a great catalog.....I'll be lost without some of the "finds" in there.
Big happy hugs to Marina. What fantastic news!!!!! Going to be 'happy' dancin' for you right into next week...maybe even next month.
Elf -- wow !!!! Isn't Minnesota really cold......well, I guess Chicago is too, but I bet the Spring and Summers are magnificent. I am hoping all works out as you want it too.
We went on snow alert 20 minutes ago and will be there until Friday. I would say we are probably going to have 4 to 6 inches more. Sigh !!!! As long as it's pretty with no ice....I'll be ok.
Off to taco supper. They have it at the Moose every Wednesday night and it's $1.25 for a very full plate of taco salad. My kind of dinner bill for sure. So gotta go. See you all later. Stay warm ok.
Jackie

Happy dance for makmak...

-
Avocado tacos for dinner here too. Just finished chopping everything up. Will warm the tortillas when the DH arrives.
-
Marina -- that is the most wonderful news, I am so very happy for you!
-
HI all - just a couple minutes to pop in.
Marina - I am soooooo happy for you. That is the best news ever! Celebrate!!!!!
zap - Vegas was a great idea for a lay by the pool trip. I think almost every hotel has a pool. We have only stayed at NYNY and the Mirage recently, but others that are nice are Caesars, Bellagio, Venetian, Wynn. The list goes on and on. BJ can probably help a bit more as she goes more often than I do. I will say - do not stay at the Tropicana (Laura can vouch for that!) You should be able to get some really good deals so look around and then you can ask us what we think!
Gotta go pick up the kids from religious ed. Have a great night!
-
makmak - such wonderful news! enjoy all the sushi you want - you deserve it!
-
Marybe - I live downtown and would love to join you for dinner, lunch or anything else that invoves food. Just need to know the date since I travel quite a bit for work. Don't think I have any travel plans at the end of Feb through.
-
makmak, I don't post alot but I read daily, wonderful news!!!!!
