That was funny Sheila!  Didn't you get sprayed by all the debris from the truck wheels?

I thought you would get a laugh from that video. I was standing in the driveway when he started and part of it he cut out he was stuck at the foot of the driveway that is why I started walking down the drive to get that, then he started moving up the drive and he waved at me to move out of the way. It was easier to step up on the block wall and into the yard rather than try to back up the driveway. After I stepped up on the block wall and into the yard, as I was turning around my feet just flew out from under me.The truck wheels were spraying the gravel down the driveway, I was far enough in the yard not to get sprayed. I only got wet from the fall. The camera has a neck strap but when he handed it to me I didn't put the strap around my neck. He said he saw the camera fly in the air but I managed to catch it.

Right now we have between 3 to 4 inches of snow on the ground and it is still falling, calling for this storm to end with freezing rain.

Sheila - so funny! Thanks for posting the link - the video gives me a real feeling for what you have to deal with in winter in such harsh climates.  Hope the freezing rain doesn't eventuate!

Tell me about the temps in the south! Last night we had a little bit of sleet on top of the 4 inches of snow with a low around 15. Today the temps are right around 32 and nothing else falling from the sky but not any sun to help melt what is on the ground. The forecast for the rest of the week have the daytime temps getting to 40 by Saturday but night time temps still in the teens and low 20's. The city crew came by to 'scrape' the road and I use the term 'scrape' very loosely. Some parts of my street are still white with packed snow. I am not moving my car until the side roads clear up more. Then I have to try and get back up the driveway. The mail truck came by and she even had trouble gripping on part of the road even with the chains on the tires.

It was near 70° yesterday and my greenhouse was at 101.8°!  I had to open it up and let it cool a bit!.  I worked in the yard in a long sleeved tee and it was warm!  Hopefully a bit of the same today.

Sounds wonderful Meece!  Blow some of that hot greenhouse air to the east!  We're up to 21 degrees, expecting a few more inches of snow tomorrow and Saturday and then a large storm on Tuesday???  What the heck?  I'm praying there are no snow storms or blizzards on January 24th, the day we're supposed to fly to the Dominican Republic for our vacation!

Do you have a back-up plan if there is a storm?  I will pray that your weather will be calmed down and that you get to a sunny beach on schedule!

I thought about doing greenhouse work yesterday because it was so cozy in there, but the yard beckoned louder!

No back up plan.  My mind won't even go there!  Long range forcasts look good but we all know how fast that can change.

I would have preferred to work outside in 70 degrees rather than inside the 101 degree green house too!  Enjoy your day and stay warm.  (I'm staying warm in my office at work, I have it turned up to a balmy 75 degrees)

Yesterday we had sunny skies and temps above freezing. The half of the driveway we got most of the snow off on Tuesday melted and we see gravel on that half. That makes getting up the driveway easier. although it is still snowy where the cars are parked. Last night it got in the low 20's but back above freezing now, hopefully the snow will continue to melt.

The old wives tale here says that if snow is laying on the ground (not piled up in parking lot) for 7 to 10 days, it is waiting for more to come. Last Saturday, I pointed out several places where snow was still laying on a south facing slope that is protected by trees.  I don't know how long this snow is going to last.

Meece,  70 degrees???  I'd love to have 20 degrees :)  We got a pretty good snow just north of Buffalo NY yesterday, had to shovel the driveway 3X to keep clear because both DS and DD were working and school.  I haven't shoveled in a while and was no fun 3day post chemo tx. The thing that amazed me, it was so quiet and peaceful, just me and the snow.  I'm sore today but enjoyed the quiet time outside just shoveling the snow.  Going back to work PT soon so won't be posting as much but I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.  Stay warm, enjoy the sun and think SPRING :)

We continue with balmy 75-80 temps and sunny days and the odd sprinkle of rain overnight - long may it last.

sheila - I hope the thaw continues for you and that you can get in and out of your driveway easier.  Still laugh when I think about the video you took of the truck trying to get up your drive.

Meece - 70 - what's going on with your weather over there?  Absolutely irratic isn't it?  Poor Australians are being hard hit too - bush fires on the West coast, floods in the North East - wacky!

suzette - 9 days until take off.  Fingers crossed the weather will be kind to you.  How long are you away?

maureen - nice to have had you with us - we will remember you when you come back and visit.

Hi Sherry, Karen1956 and Karen333.  Hope the weather has eased off you ladies a bit too.

Yesterday was back to being a bit foggy until 10:30 am then in the 50s.  You just never know how to dress.  I only reminds me that the heat here is just around the corner and when it comes, we will regret complaining about the cold.      My ideal temp would be around 85 to 95 with no winds, year round.

THE SUN is shineing, haven't seen it in a long time, looks beautiful from indoors.  High of 24 today but no snow!!!  It just keeps getting better.  Heatwave tomorrow - 34 - it will be downright balmy, then back to the 20's.  Tired of winter already, and we have at least Feb. and March to go, and April can be a bit dicey.

9 days until sunshine and warmth!  We'll be gone for 9 days and I'm so excited to have sunshine and warmth.  Your weather sounds lovely Rae.  I feel very bad for those in Australia - it looks just awful from the pictures I've seen on our news.  I didn't realize they were also dealing with bush fires on the opposite coast.

Have fun skiing Karen, I mean sitting in the lodge people watching, if you drink wine, have one for me!

We're at 21 degrees, no sun (surprise, surprise) and snow flurries.  I think we're supposed to get 3 inches tomorrow and a snow storm on Tuesday.  Can't wait. Tongue out

Bought our tickets for Hawaii last night.  Of all things I contacted American Airlines about their "Compassion fare" and it was $300 more than buying online!

24 days until our trip, but it won't be all fun in the sun unfortunately.

So glad you have your tickets for Hawaii.  I can't believe that it was more money for the Compassion fare than online, what a ripoff!  I'm so glad you'll see Matt in 24 days!

She told me that it's because the "change fee" is already built into the ticket.  they wanted $762.80 per person!  I got both our tickets for $969.  Still a big hit to our budget.

Going to Caldesi Island tomorrow.  Only accessible by ferry with miles of white beaches.  High tomorrow is 70.  DH spent all last week in Virginia and Washington, DC.  He's ready for beach time as he has to go back for 2 more weeks.

Hi Maureen, boy you got that right, I am so ready for spring.  You got the heavy snow the other day,  12 inches if I remember correctly.  It's hard to keep track of the snowy days, it's just about every day lately, not much but enough to have to brush off the car.  Karen
