If we were all sitting together having coffee and cookies, this conversation would be quick. How long would it take for each of us speak our posts from this thread in a conversation -- not long. It just seems to drag on in this medium.
-
Chocolate chip cookies would be good. Fresh out of the oven with milk. Or we could just eat the dough. We've been talking about brussel sprouts and lima beans on another thread. We could do cookies here.
-
Medigal, I just C&Ped them into my little box. No good memory...LOL
-
I had many chocolate chip cookies and milk for breakfast today. So far it's just been chocolate chip cookies and diet pepsi for dinner. Gotta get out the take out menus...
-
this is kind of like Sarah Palin's facebook page.
-
Elizabeth, my dear Canadian friend (I hope?), I understand there are whiners. But this is getting ridiculous. I haven't seen all the deleted post because I haven't even been on this thread before this afternoon or today sometime (Medigal..my memory!). It really ticked me off that someone would accuse someone else of deleting posts without ANY evidence and then come back and say she now wonders. If someone lied or misrepresented me, I'd delete that post. Is that so bad? What do other people think when they come here and read...they'd think that the "accused" person was a jerk. We all have very strong or passionate opinions. But to put a name in a post without a clue of what you are saying?
-
wow, i've just been a lurker for the most part starting back in the "healthcare" days. This is incredible what's going on in this thread. I can't believe so much has been deleted. geesh. I have to give Melissa credit, she's dealt with a lot of crazies on this board. anyone remember the entire watson thing? (may she rest in peace) I just wish we had a better way of dealing with all of it. I do agree, if someone doesn't agree, they should just go elsewhere. shirley is correct, we do need to be sure of facts. I know I was accused of being a troll at one point early on in my time on bco. LOL.
-
Who are you calling crazy????
-
KK, I just had a toasted frozen blueberry waffle with a ton of vanilla ice cream on it.
-
Shirley: You are amazing! Where is this little box and do "I" have one? You were able to C&P "all" of them? Can I have a copy?? I am just so confused about what is going on that I would just like to figure out what we are all doing that is making things so bad for us. Maybe if I could read over the posts, I could learn from them before my time here comes to an end. Maybe I kid too much and people aren't noticing my smiley faces. I would really miss a lot of you gals (including you, Shirley) but what must be must be. Thanks!
-
Well we wouldn't even be having this conversation if people who pushed the report button were truthful and honest and said " I reported your post because ...." Unfortunately, that isn't usually the case. I just finished up the Christmas pecans, so if anyone has any cookies, please pass me one.
-
We will always be friends Shirley -- even when we want to throttle each other!
Cookies schmookies, I want those waffles and ice cream. Definitely going grocery shopping tomorrow.
-
I want Pickled Pigs Feet and LOTS of them and a bowl of stewed Tripe like only my mom can cook! However she'll have to send it to me from Heaven cause that's where she is wondering what the heck is going on down on Earth!
BTW, I have to admit, I don't think this time it is any one on here deleting us cause most of them say "deleted by Moderators". I think the other poster who said she thought Melissa saw the one post and just scooped everyone else up who got involved with it. Sounds good to me. Case closed!
-
Well, WildRocky, I *did* have okra for dinner. Mmm, mmmm . . . mucilage! And it was delicious, thank you very much. (Medigal, I thought of you and your native city as I made my gumbo.)
L
-
OMG -- mucilage -- that sounds like snot! Peas, beans, and carrots for me please.
-
If you want gross -- while on a biz trip to Hong Kong I had to eat sea cucumber and fried jelly fish (among other things...). The sea cucumber thingy slid right down (is that mucilage-like?) but when I had the mouthful of jelly fish I kept having to think; "pretend it's candy, pretend it's candy..." just to get it down and smile appreciatively to my hosts.
-
Sandy introduced me to the delightful term, "mucilage." Thanks, Sandy!

Just one more cookie and I'll go back to bed.

Lewing: You really for truly have enough money to make GUMBO!? The real kind with okra, shrimp, crabs!!! That costs a fortune nowadays! I stopped making it when shrimp went over 39 cents a pound! Ok so now you know how OLD I am and also POVERTY ridden too!!
Seriously, Gumbo is very expensive to make if done like we do it in the South. Please think of me while you are in ectasy eating it. You do pour it over rice don't you? I have to have rice with mine. I am going to dream of eating Gumbo tonight. Heck with the pigs feet! I want gumbo! Also, IF you are cooking your okra correctly, it does not remind one of the "s" word. WE know how to cook okra the right way but we don't tell Northerns unless they give us back our land! Yes, Michigan is considered in the North. But I still can like you because you are wealthy and can still afford to cook Gumbo!!!
Wild Rocky: I just saw your post. I need to show you how to cook okra the "right" way even if you are a Northern too! If you aren't,you should already know how. And you called it the "s" word too! You better hope the "Queen of the Site" is not reading these now.
-
WildRocky: You give me my okra and gumbo and I will brush your fluffy gorgeous tail for at least 5 minutes! I'm too tired to do more tonight. Just don't promise that which you may not be able to afford to give. Gumbo is expensive! Thanks anyway for the gesture.
-
Hah, Medigal, I knew gumbo would draw you out! I'm afraid mine is a pale imitation of what you're used to, though. It had a nice, toasty, dark roux; shrimp (made a stock with the shrimp shells so nothing went to waste); andouille (well, it was Trader Joe's chicken andouille, does that count?); scallions, garlic, green pepper, okra (frozen - please, don't think less of me for that!); and rice, of course. No crab. Basically, it was a stripped-down, cheater's, northern gumbo . . . but still tasty.

Lewing: "The Way to a Southern Woman's Heart is GUMBO" You found out my secret passion. Who needs sex? I'll take a giant bowl of gumbo any day instead!
But I don't use andouille or chicken in my Gumbo. I only make Seafood Gumbo but I once went to dinner at a friend's house and she made chicken gumbo and I actually liked it. However my favorite is the Seafood. But even in the South (I guess cause you Northerns moved to town) we had folks making it with chicken, sausage and just about anything. But you give me my Seafood, okra gumbo and I will follow you any place. Well "almost" any place cause I have no idea what kind of places you frequent, gal!
DP is in the kitchen and just offered me a vienna sausage!! I told him I was dreaming of gumbo and "he" expects me now to eat a yucky vienna sausage!! The creep! (Hey! I can call my own DP a "creep". It's "love" talk when you consider some of the names I call him.)
-
We had Hoppin' John accompanied by kale chips. Cheap southern food!
-
Madalyn: Will you PULEZ get Melissa to realize that? I told her today that I am happiest when I am kidding with my pals on here and getting a reprieve from bc and I thought that it was the same with a lot of my friends on here. She seems to read the bad posts, I do hope she takes the time to read yours and understands why we don't talk bc constantly. I will NOT let bc keep me from having fun with my friends in my groups. When Arimidex makes me want to cry, I go lock myself in my seperate bedroom and down come out until I have fought off the bad feelings and can be happy again. Now sometimes that takes years but DP enjoys the vacations.
Seriously tho, would you just want me to cry about my tits alll day? Life is too short. Thank you for enjoying the "Deletees" tonight.
-
revkat: How "far" South did you go to get something "Hoppin" ? Is that some kind of Frog dish? Now I love fried Frog legs! But only after they stop "Hoppin". Isn't Kale a kind of lettuce or spinich or grass? I need to go to bed but now I have to sit here waiting to find out what this "Hoppin" thing is you are eating. Do I need to go get what's left of the Mylanta?? It's the Old People's bedtime and even DP is sitting on the sofa waiting to find out what this is. Gosh! You just may have done a miracle tonight. DP will be up later than 10 PM! Forget him, just get the answer back quick so I can get to bed. It's been a looooong day! Thanks!
Madyn: Awwww! Thanks dear one. Next to being hated, I sure love to be loved. I love you all back!
-
Hoppin' John is black-eyed peas and rice. I made a version that is supposed to be sort of Creole in seasoning. I hear that it is traditionally eaten in the south on New Year's Day, but we didn't get around to it, so I did it tonight. I think it is eaten with greens (someone from the south can chime in here and tell me if I'm wrong), so I was thinking making a "mess of greens" but everyone has been raving about kale chips so I tried them instead. You just toss kale with oil and any seasoning you want and bake them until crispy. Now that I think of it, I should have had some okra with this meal! But I don't deep fry and I can't take okra any other way. Not even in gumbo (sorry Linda and Medigal).
-
revkat: Blackeyed peas and rice!!! I never heard it called "Hoppin anything" but I LOVE them. I hope you put a lot of pickled meat and/or ham in it. Yummy! You Northerns took our land AND our recipes!! Well you can keep the land and I'll share the recipes cause you have a right to know what good food is. (BTW, you "did" win the war didn't you?) I am so tired I don't even remember who won. But I'm glad the internet allows us to still be friends and we don't have to battle each other except when Melissa is on vacation.
That does it for me tonight, Ladies. DP ran to "his" bed soon as I told him what the "Hoppin" was and now I am going to my room to get some sleep. Good dreams to all!
-
Mucilage----you may think this is funny but it'snot! Get it? It's snot???? LOL!
I made southwestern black beans with roasted corn and corn bread. THEN I had a dulce de leche I picked up at a local bakery. So much for being "good" w/the vegetable dinner, huh?
Sharon
-
groan. Sharon, you are so punny.
Medigal, I know it wasn't authentic, but my version was meatless.
And it was good. I have a another version of black-eyed peas with greens that is milder that my D likes better. She didn't like the kale chips much either, but my husband snarfed them up. I thought they were a nice change from sauteed greens which is our usual method.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who follows healthy, low fat, high fiber, lots of veggie meals with a good dessert! Sometimes you just need that sugar/fat combination to feel satisfied.
-
Oh Sharon~
My 9 year old told me that joke just yesterday!!!
Much funnier when you said it...
