It is slow going, but I am getting better....sloooowly. Just sitting and breathing wears me out. I am on house arrest, won't be able to work this weekend, frustrating and scary.

Glad that you're home, Melinda! Stay out of that nasty weather...are they calling for snow? We are tonight and tomorrow.

Sue, good luck with your appt. Has it quit raining over there?

Well, saw my breast surgeon today. He says I look great and am cleared for plastic surgery. I see that dr. on Jan 13. Boobs...here I come!

Good news Linda - What are you getting? Implants or recon?

We have major floods over here but they are North and West of here. It poured last night and there is more on the way. It's great, as I haven't had to water the garden at all. The last couple of days have been hot and humid though - very sticky - I hate it.

Welcome home, Melinda!  Continue to take it easy.  Ya got my vote, too, for having Hunk-man come over and do some serious pampering!

Linda:  hurray for getting cleared for boobs!!!

Sue:  Glad to hear you are above water!  Is way weird to read that you are hot and sticky there. Snow is forecast for here tomorrow and again on Friday. ugh.  What happened with the rad appt.?

    Nite nite.  Nette

The planning is all done. The stupid rad onc was marking the wrong scar for boosts so I had to point out the correct scar. Then he mentioned DCIS, so I told him politely it was IDC as well - good grief!!!! Lucky he's not my regular one - she's on holiday. I only needed one new tatoo as they have the others from last time. The worst part is I don't start until the 17th!!! I managed to get a free parking spot in the street like last time, so I saved on the parking fee but got rained on, on the way back to the car. I got there nearly half an hour early and they took me straight in - so that was good. I just wish I was starting sooner to get it over with.

We have no water problems as I lived here in Brisbane when we had big floods in 1974 - I was quite certain about where I wanted to live - on a hill!!!! There has been some flash flooding here in the city but the worst is out in the country and up north. Maybe if the idiots built a few dams they wouldn't have the problem.

It will be a DIEP surgery. The original plan was DIEP on the cancerous side, and implant/lat flap on the prophylactic (sp?) side.

Linda - doesn't that involve a long time in surgery - it really scared me when I was reading about it. You are so brave to have them off - I just couldn't do it because I'm a big chicken.

Linda: Congrats on getting the all clear for boobage, "boobitude" is what my 11yo daughter calls it.

Still pluggging along, getting lots of crocheting done since I have to sit still a lot. But at least I have another chest CT to add to my collection so they can keep comparing. They have talked about some "ground glass opacity" since I finished radiation.

Melinda - Glad you're taking it easy. What are you working on now? I almost finished my big cross stitch of a Japanese lady but have started a new one because some of the top stitching is ridiculous and might just not do it. A friend gave me the new one but it's a bit on the beginner side so not 100% to my taste. Still, it keeps me busy while watching TV.

It's absolutely pouring rain right now. Lucky I drained some water out of the pool yesterday. Hope it passes soon as I wanted to go and get the weekly groceries done.

Melinda, what is "ground glass opacity"? Sounds painful :) Yes....I def have boobitude! The more I think about it, the more excited I get. I still want some of your dreads!

Sue, I'm looking at about a 7 hour surgery. I hope my surgeon gets a good night's sleep!! Trust me, I'm not brave. I'm a wuss! I just saw my mom have a reoccurence, and I didn't want to go through that!

    Love to all!!

Linda : it was the time in surgery that put me off - too long. I rejected having my thyroid out as it was 3 or 4 hours. Scary stuff, but if you get nice new boobs - go for it.

Had to drain the pool again when I got home. I bet I'll have to get heaps of salt next time I get it tested. The rain seems to have gone for now, but boy what a down pour we had.

It's still raining and I had to drain the pool AGAIN!!!!

I've dumped my cross stitch and am now working on a story quilt my mother bought me in Alaska. I had done 4 squares and then stopped, so I'm now nearly finished the 5th square. It's an iron on applique quilt - absolutely gorgeous - if I ever finish it. It's called "At Home in the Woods" if you want to see what it looks like you can google it.

Hugs to everyone - hope you had a great weekend!!!

Sue, you may as well just empty that pool...save yourself some work...Do you normally see this much rain this time of year?

Melinda ~ so glad to hear you are home.  REST under a warm blanket and have some tea.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Sorry about your dumb rads guy Sue... duh?!

Linda ~ glad to hear foobies are in your future.  I can't wait for nips and then I am DONE !

Michele, Nette, Sue and anyone I forgot hugs !

I'm feeling blue.....  blaming it on the weather but I think it is the husband annoying me.

Alicia, I have days like that too...I find with me it has to do with the weather...After a day of yucky weather, i get grumpy...I guess i have that SAD disease.  The only thing that helps is potato chips and onion dip...yum. Just thinking about chips makes me happy, and hungry.

Uh oh...what did DH do? Alicia, I'm sending hugs your way!

To me, winter is such a loney time. The trees are bare, the ground color matches the sky color. The birds have flown south, and it's just downright cold. Music usually gets me out of my funk.

Talk about funk...Just got home from taking DD back to college.  For some reason, it gets harder instead of easier for both of us.  what's up with that?  I guess going through what I did last year showed us the fragility of life in general.

I took her back yesterday, we shopped for groceries, unpacked tons of stuff, I spent the night with her in her apt. (that was fun), and drove back today.  Will miss her, but she comes home for spring break the end of Feb.

Started the trip back in snow and just missed a 52 car incident on I95.  It slowed us down about 30 mins. but at least we were behind it and not in it.  Scary.  All because some idiots around here don't know how to drive in snow.  :P

    Back to my regular tomorrow.

Sue:  hope draining the pool is the worst that you've had to deal with.

Michele:  after reading about chips and onion dip, I'm on my way to the pantry to get some!!  Thanks for the idea!

    Happy Sunday. Nette

Just had to drain some out AGAIN!!! We had more heavy rain over night. I guess we are having monsoon type weather. It is what they call the "wet season" but this is much more than we usually have.

Alicia - I know what you mean about DH - got one here too

Nette - lucky miss on the accident

Melinda - hope you're getting better every day.

Just checking in, feeling a little better everyday but still so tired feeling. I guess the pneumonia got me in the radiated lung tissue so it is very sloooow going to get better. I went to the grocery store to get stocked up for the snow and it just took everything I had to get through with the shopping and unpacking.

We had about 5-6 inches of snow fall last night. Glad I don't have anywhere to be!

Wishing everyone well with monsoons, moody DH's, boobitude, mmmmm chips and dip.

awwww, Melinda...I was so in hopes you were much better by now, but guess it will just take time.  Do take it easy until you get your strength back.  I hope you had some help with the groceries when you got home.  You are still in my prayers.

I found out about 3 weeks ago that an acquaintance of mine has breast cancer, so a friend gave her my name and number to contact for basic info.  Then a week ago, another acquaintance called me to ask me some question, as she had had a "suspicious" mammo and was having to schedule a biopsy.  Two people in a short span of time.  Quite upsetting.  Hopefully the 2nd one's biopsy will come back negative. Oh, and the first lady had her port put in the same day as her first chemo.  Hadn't heard of that happening before.

Everyone stay warm and, for those of us having monsoons, stay dry.  Nette

Melinda - glad to hear you are on the mend. I did some reading on it and pneumonia can be a complicaton of radiation up to 14 weeks later. Snuggle up and enjoy being housebound!!!

Still raining - devastating flash flooding up on the range about 2 hours west of here yesterday. Now our city is under threat from flooding - lucky I live on a hill :)

Nette, Port and chemo on the same day is not unheard of..in fact I think the Juennelle had that...

    Melinda, get better soon...

Sue, praying that the rains stop soon..

Still raining - had to show DH how to drain the pool - he had never learned how to do it.

It's very sad 8 people were killed in the flash flood west of here yesterday - 59 people are missing. There was no warning at all. They are evacuating towns west of here and some suburbs in the city.

The dam is full and they have to release water, so they expect bad floods in lower lying areas of the city on Thursday.

Thinking of you Sue - I have more friends in Brisbane too, so I know it is pretty awful.  We have also had unseasonal rains here (in Myanmar) - unheard of in dry season.........  But nowhere near as heavy as with you.

Take care and  keep us updated

    big hugs

It's just terrible - a couple of small towns were totally devastated - houses were washed away with people in them. The rain has stopped for now but Brisbane will still have some flooding when the water reaches us.

Sue ~ saw the devastation in Australia on the news.  My prayers go out to all those affected.

We are expecting between 14-24 inches tonight into tomorrow.  Seems like a storm a week lately.  UGH !

Coming out of my funk, heading out to buy the perfect brownie pan so I can make "perfect" brownies snowed in tomorrow.

    Hugs to you all !

    :)
