Sue: It is my understanding that if the sentinel node is clear, the others nodes are clear, too, since that is the node that everything filters through. If your sentinel was clear, you have nothing to worry about.
Thanks, Alicia, for the compliment on the "gray" hair.
Congrats, Michele!!!!!!!!! Excellent news!!!!
Hang in there, Linda!!!! Break is coming and you can take that much needed R&R.
-
Thanks Nette - but I still worry
-
Sue: I def. understand. Hope all is healing quickly and painlessly!
-
The boob is tender of course and it worries me having to wear a bra 24/7 as it's getting hotter here. The wounds are on the under side and I'm worried they're not getting any fresh air to heal. One looks ok but not sure about the other one. I started putting a pad in my bra against it so it doesn't get sweaty. I might make an appt with the GP - I do need to check in with him and get a new script for my anti inflams. He could check it out. I think there's a little bit of discharge coming from it, but the pad from yesterday only had one little spot on it.
Hair colour today!!!! Can't wait BUT I wish we could do something with the curls/fluff. My hairdresser suggested trying a product to give them more definition - maybe they'll try some on me
After the hairdresser, I'm off to lunch with my BC friend gain - we're going to celebrate Bonnie being the only one.
Melinda: How's Clyde going? and the beau?
Sue
-
Sue: Good luck with the hair-do, have fun. Let is know if they have suggestions for the fluffiness.
Clyde is closing up, I have a dent now instead of a bump. So it is just a quarter sized, red dent in my chest. One doc said it will probably always be discolored, it being radiated pork rind and all. I still have burn marks on my neck from rads. Someone thought it was a hickey!
Beau is good, warm and comfy.
-
Melinda: good news about Clyde!!! Dents beat big ol' ugly, tender bumps. So glad that it got better. I still have the brownish area on my chest from the rads. Rad doc. said I could use a product that gets rid of brown spots, but I decided it wasn't worth it. It never shows under clothing anyway.
Good luck, uhhh, today, Sue with the hair color. Def. let us know/see the results. I've used gel on my hair to tame the fluff since it grew back. The gel does give it some definition.
Have a good night and a great Friday everyone!!! Oh, and good luck with the party, Bren!!
-
Sue, I hope you have a hot sexy anaesthesiologist...may as well have some purks..
-
Yah Brenda, have a great time at your party...I think we should call you Martha Stewert...Domestic Diva Brenda. DDB for short.
Yah for dents and bye bye clyde.
-
Melinda Glad to hear Clyde is shrinking and also glad that the beau is still on the scene and keeping you warm
Michele I'm getting the same anaesthetist as last time - he was ordinary. But I do remember a really nice boy who wheeled my bed to theatre - maybe I'll get him again!!!
I went to the GP - he said the wound I was worried about looks fine. He also mentioned BMX - so I explained my rationale of being conservative at this time and he was fine with it. I won't have a choice if there is a next time - BUT THERE WON'T BE!!!!!
Nearly time to go for the hair do - I'll welcome the aircon - it's getting hot!!! We've been lucky to have had quite a mild Spring/Summer so far. DH had his first swim yesterday and I might have to join him. I spend a lot of time keeping the pool clean and nice and hardly ever get in it myself.
Love you girls!!!!
Sue
-
Ok -hair streaked. The photo isn't too good as DH took it and I hate having my photo taken. She trimmed a little off the ends and put some Redken stuff called Ringlet in it to define the curls. It's definitely blonder - much better than grey.
-
Sue: it looks awesome!!!! I'll bet you will be much happier now. Can you feel any difference in the texture? Is the "Ringlet" product stiff, like a gel? I'll have to look it up in the store. So glad it turned out well.
hmmmm, so that's what sunshine looks like??!! I'd forgotten. :P
Happy Friday, to you and everyone else!!! Nette
-
Sue, you look great...your picture makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside...Wish we had sun and green bushes like you.
Well, today is the day to trim that tree...
-
Looking Good Sue!
I had a chuckle today, got mail from my job, thought it was a Christmas card. It was an annual physical questionaire. They want to know if I have seen a doc in the past six months!! If nothing weird happens, I will have had 91 appts in 2010!
-
You can just see my car and the edge of the pool fence in the background. I should have stood a bit further over so the pool was in it, then you would have been really jealous
The Ringlet stuff was in a blue pump bottle. She put some in a little pot for me to bring home to try. I've been washing my hair every day so I'd soon go through a bottle. She also gave me a complimentary conditioning treatment to fill in time while she was doing another person.
Just had a look in the mirror - it's sort of a creamy colour - better than grey.
Hey Melinda - was there enough room on the questionnaire to fit your answer?
Sue
-
I got a chuckle out of Melinda's posting..."have you seen a dr. in the last 6 months." I would have wanted to put something really sarcastic, but not sure I would have been able to think of the perfect line. Michele?? Though Melinda's pretty good at those, too.
I really do like your hair, Sue. The cut and color look very natural.
DD comes home tomorrow for 4 weeks!!! Woo hoo!!
Have a great night! Nette
-
ahhhh nice to hear everyone sounding upbeat. I felt as if I had neglected you girls. I had a busy day or two, so I popped in before heading to bed.
Melinda ~ funny about the Dr. ? glad the beau is warm and comfy ! Sounds great.
Sue ~ hair looks beautiful ! Hope it gave you a nice little pick me up. I always say as long as I leave the salon looking better then I walked in it is money well spent.
Nettie ~ exciting you have DD coming home - and for 4 weeks ! enjoy, do something fun when she gets home to Celebrate. Maybe manicure/pedicure's together.
DD and I might do just that tomorrow as hubby is going golfing... and it is in the 30's. NUTS !
Brenda ~ hope you are feeling good and having some fun !
Michele ~ I hope all is well with you and again woo HOO on that promotion !
I am with you jealous of Sue's green bushes and sunshine.
well goodnight hugs my friends,
Alicia
-
I might take a pic of our pool and publish it for you
Maybe tomorrow - we've got BIG thunderstorms at the moment.
-
Ooops - we fell of the first page again - BUMP. Hope the bump doesn't hurt you too much
Well, tomorrow the port will BE GONE!!!! I'm letting DH go for his end of year golf game and dinner and have a friend picking me up from the hospital. Although, with all the rain we've had his thing might be called off - the course is probably under water.
Boob still sore which is reasonable seeing she had to cut so deep. I got some special micropore brown tape to put over the wounds yesterday - apparently it minimises the scar. This new surgeon is the only one who gave me a wound treatment fact sheet with a list of stuff you can use. The idiot last year didn't give me anything. I've already put it on the sentinel node scar and should be able to use it on the others this week some time. A friend of mine told me her son used it on a scar on his eye and you can't see where he was cut.\
Hope you all had a great weekend.
Sue
-
You look great Sue!! It's so funny to hear you talk about how hot it is. I forget that it's summer there. I'm freezing over here in NC! A few days ago, they called for flurries. Yes, I've gotten three inches of flurries!
-
I've been DEPORTED!!!!!!!
I saw the surgeon before she did it and showed her the scar from Bonnie's little sisters as I've been worried about it as it was weeping a bit. She said it was breaking down a bit and said she would redo it in surgery!!! and she's given me some anitbiotics to take.
My friend didn't pick me up until after 3 as she got stuck in traffic, but it didn't matter, I was totally zonked out by some pain meds they gave me and kept drifting off to sleep. I was going to write out my Xmas cards while I waited for her but didn't even get to open them up.
Melinda: How many more Herceptin tx's do you have to go? You're next for deporting.
Sue
-
Sue, congtats on beng deported....
-
Sue: Congrats on deportation!!!
My first Herp was 2/16, so I have two more months to go.
-
Congrats on the deportation!! My doc added another year of Naked Herp, so I'll be having my hang around for a while. I should name him...any thoughts?
-
Melinda: Not long then, I thought it was Feb. It will be over before you know it.
Linda: I thought about doing that too. Boris and George popped in to my head for some reason but they're stupid names. You could call it Portia and make it a girl.
I'm off to see rad onc today. Boy will she get a surprise to see me back. I got the receipts from the 2 anaesthetists and the breast clinic yesterday so I can go and claim them back. I'm hoping the breast clinic thing works out, as I deliberately had the wires put in prior to admission so I'd get more money back. Our system with in-hospital vs out-of-hospital is crazy!!! My credit card is bending under the pressure. I had to do a quick spreadsheet to work out if I'd blown the limit yesterday.
Hope you're all not too freezing over there - so much for global warming.
Sue

WOW, Have I missed a lot....you girls
My letter "n" does not work at my main computer....I finally have a chance to get on.. I was able to read off my phone, but to type messages is way to difficult, unless just a hello..It;s easy on FB and on MySpace(I don't even use that anymore). Sorry so long winded!!! I missed y'all.
(((((SUE))))))Hair looks superb!!!! I'm glad your doing fairly well. I can say I wish I had your weather, I live in Florida and it has been freezing for a period of over 12 hours. I am not used to that cold for quite so long. Fantastic you got your port out! How was it? Fairly painless I hope! To me it was just uncomfortable. Like you I was also fairly drugged for that one. I was freaking, but then I done alright.
Hugs to EVERYONE.....I'm still trying to absorb all I've read today~~~~Love to all
PS Friday night went fantastic, I was busy but everyone loved my food..I got several compliments. Too much work though. If I didn't know the person this was for, I would have never done it. I always say it doesn't pay to cook for a living... I'd only do it for my loved ones and friends...WELL...they where all friends and loved one..
-
Oh Mechelle,
"Domestic Diva" YES!!!!!
Martha Stewart, def NOT, where I grew up in Connecticut I met her once thru a friend, and she was soooooo stuck up to me. She lived in a big fancy home and she was very spoiled youngin. She treated me as though I was beneath her standards and I never forgot that. Yep, she became rich but was truly a b#@$h!!!! I came from the other side of the tracks so to speak, but had a nice home, good parents and always looked nice...I couldn't buy designer clothes and I just was not in her click. My feelings are easily hurt with that type of behavior, because I want to help and love people no matter where they come from. I have several rich friends and my husband takes WELL care of me. To this day I don't really spend a lot on clothes, unless something special is coming up..I'd rather buy more often, but less money..
In addition if something is "Martha Stewart" I REFUSE to buy it!!!!
Now put me in the kitchen and no body will want to leave. That is where I am their best friends. I had all kinds of offers to cater after Friday night. But, as I said earlier only for family and friends
Love you
-
Hey hey, I typed a long post this A.M. and lost it. Maybe that was lucky for you, guys.
Sue: I got a chuckle out of your saying you were "deported." Very cute, though one has to be careful when using that term stateside.
How was the rad onc visit?
I had my comp. mammo yesterday. It was bumped down a notch in priority when my dog had to have a tooth extracted the same day, and I had to have her at the vet at 7:30 in the morning. I was so worried about her being put to sleep that I didn't even think about the mammo. When I got Pepper taken care of, I took several pain pills and then my DD drove me to the mammo. At least it wasn't so painful that it brought tears to my eyes this time. Will get the results on Friday when I have my follow-up with the BS. Not expecting any surprises.
Good to hear from you, Brenda! So glad the party was a success. I have vowed never to purchase Martha Stewart items or watch any show she is in because she is a crook.
Have a good evening! Nette
-
Nette, good luck on Friday. I am sure all will be ok..glad it wasn't to bad this time.
Brenda, I like domestic diva...You are no Martha jailbird Stewart...more like Rachel Ray perhaps..
Linda...what to call your port...lets see....I will have to think about that fora while...
Sweet dreams to all.
-
Hi Girls,
Rad onc visit was cool. They were surprised to see me back. Planning session on the 6th January and I should start the week after that.
I'm not in any pain but the dressing on my chest is irritating the skin. I seem to be allergic to some dressings. I'll leave it there until I see her on Friday.
Did the rounds of refunds this morning and my strategy worked with the wire insertion. It cost $1066 and I got most of it back - out of pocket was $101. If I had been admitted first it would have cost me $508!!!! So there are ways around the system - I felt SO good about it. The lady at the government Medicare office thought I was extremely intelligent to have worked it all out to my advantage.
I went and bought some of the product the hairdresser gave me. It does look better if I use it. I just have to perfect the application of it.
Nette: Hope the mammo results are good!!!!
Brenda: Well done - there's no way I could feed that many people.
I need to rest - I've been out and about all day!!!! Might watch Bold and the Beautiful
(((((((((((HUGS)))))))))
Sue
-
oops we fell off the first page again - BUMP!!!
Went and saw my mother today. I was reminded it's 2 years and 2 weeks since I went to her place. Good grief!!! Anyway, I left after a couple of hours and went and visited a old school friend - that was much more fun. BTW - my mother is not the easiest person to get along with.
