Gerd or mets?

Maybe I'm just being paranoid but for the past week I've had a pressure sensation in my left ribs.  Not really any pain more like a pressure or bubble (for lack of a better word).  My dr. says since it doesn't hurt when she presses on them that it's probably gerd which I've suffered from since chemo.  It's not going away though and my gerd has never done this before.  I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this, any info would be great!

    Jenny,

I had terrible GERD during and after chemo.  I still get nasty bouts of it, but it's not nearly as often.  You are describing exactly what I feel...so my guess is that it's GERD.

Jenny, I have not had it myself, but I think if your Dr was at all concerned she would do scans. They know what symptoms are concerning.

Sometimes I really think we amplify pain due to our own anxiety. Hope it gets better soon!

    Hi Jenny,

I so understand how you feel!  And you are still pretty new out of chemo, so I'd bet that's it.  I still have some weird sensations under my right rib area, had scans that showed nothing.  Still if it persists (rule of thumb anything that lasts for more than 2 weeks) have the doc do some tests so you can have some peace of mind.

    Take care,

    Sharon

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate the info.  I am new out of chemo and waiting for surgery so, I'm sure I'm just being paranoid.

My vote is "gerds." Sleep with the head of your bed elevated for a while--if you feel better it is gerds. But, word of caution, unfortunately gerds can lead to cancer of the esophagus if not treated. It sounds like the fortunate, unfortunate game--"she slept with her head elevated, and fortunately it was GERDS, but unfortunately, it has the potential to become cancer of the esophagus."

    Oh well, Weesa
