Hi everyone

My mom was dx with BC in November 2010. She is 53. As pathology report says Her breast tissue is  clear and there isn't any vessel involvment. Is this good in her prognosis or no difference. As I understand the most important thing in determining someone's prognosis is her stage. Also it's mentioned that Herceptin can cure breast cancer in early stage. Is this term includes stage IIIa or not?

I'm sorry there are not a lot of replies to your question, and maybe others on this forum are like me--not sure what you mean by clear breast tissue and vessel involvement. Perhaps you could write back and rephrase your question. Do you mean that after surgery your mother had clean margins? By vessel involvment do you mean no vascular invasion?

What your post does tell me is that your mother's breast cancer is aggressive--it is large, and grade 3, and her2 positive.  She will need to pull out all the big guns to fight it. Certainly herceptin will be very important here. I would suspect she will be having chemotherapy soon. She is lucky to have a daughter like you concerned about her.

Nevo..so sorry about your mom, having to deal with this.I did recieve 1 year of herceptin, since I am Her2+++.Most likely your mom will be getting aggressive chemo.I did very well on chemo. It was doable for me.Herceptin is a miracle drug, only about 12 years old. There is a great movie call Living Proof, with Harry Conick Jr.It was a Lifetime movie, about the discoverer of this miracle medicine. There is also a website for you to understand her2.google her2,I don't know how to pu the link on here..
