I've mainly stopped adding salt when I cook at all.  Add a bit of lite salt later if it really needs it.

I also never put the salt sharker on the table at all.

Good idea.  I don't but maybe because I just forget.  If we want some, I go get it.

You'd be hard pressed to find a salt shaker in my house!  What is the shelf life of a box of salt anyway as I probably need to throw out the one in the back of my refrigerator by now!

I don't add salt in cooking either (when I do cook) and we use Mrs. Dash a lot and then also real garlic to cook with.

I agree with the one point for a week of rads and one point for preventive appointments.

Go Cranes! (this is what the sandhill cranes that live in my backyard from February to October look like)  They're beautiful birds!

Our weather turned nasty today with snowyrain and cold; couldn't convince myself to get out to the gym.  Plus craving chocolate and made some chocolate treats tht I didn't get made at Christmas.  So today, I went backwards.  Yesterday was better, though, and maybe tomorrow will be OK.  I may call-in to work and get some stuff done - go to the gym, etc.  Or I can work from home, and still get to the gym.

Brrr!  We had 60 degree weather yesterday - sounds nice, and is, but your body never has a chance to acclimate, so when it gets cold you freeze!  Maybe I'll do some time on the elliptical as well as my upper body weights tomorrow.

Had company and didn't exercise today.  Must exercise in the morning, then the afternoon.  My body needs to get used to daily exercise.

Have my tennis shoes on for my 90 minute, yes I said 90 minute(!!!!) aerobics class. We meet on Mon, Tues and Fri -- so if I make all three that 9 points of exercise right there. Their group has been together for over 2 years and they have memorized over 60 choreographed routines...... then there's me stumbling & bumbling along. It is so much fun -- evey though at least 40% of the time I am lost.

Michelle, I'm so GRRRRRR over a flare in your preparation of healthy foods. @*#$&*&%*$&!! Hoping that things settle back down and you move forward with ease.

We spent most of yesterday building a closet interior/racks/rails etc etc and moving clothes into it and I know what you mean about using arms. I get achey/swollen immediately, but then am better after a night's sleep.

So I'm ready for my line-dance hilarity.

    Ever onward birdies!!

    HAPPY MONDAY

I like pita sandwiches.  I used to make them in a sortof healthy way, but I am sure I could improve.

DH took the day off because of a dentist appointment, so he will return in a couple hours.  I took advantage of a quiet house, and no football on the tv and I did my exercise.  I did my regular 30 minute routine , then added a few exercises that are fun and benficial to my upper arms and shoulders.  I burned 161 calories according to "Avis" my Wii tariner.

I feel good, and am imagining what I will look like with pretty upper arms.  No muffin top will also be a goal, but I want to wear sleeveless this summer.

    Diet Bread Tricks:

    Light Bread

Light bread is half the calories of regular bread. Most are 40 or 45 calories per slice; regular bread tends to have 70 to 100 calories per slice. Light breads are filled out with extra air and sometimes extra fiber. This replaces the fattening fat and flour: the bread is "full-size" but spongy. Yet, it gives the appearance of a "regular" portion.

    Thin-Sliced Bread

Thin-sliced bread has the density of regular bread, but it's sliced to be half as thin (you can see in the photo at the right that it's half the height of the Light bread above). You get all of the "chew" with half the calories. Because it's dense and thin, it has the added benefit of toasting up to be nice and crisp. This Very Thin whole wheat bread from Pepperidge Farm is just 40 calories a slice (Very Thin is also made in white). Pepperidge Farm also makes Deli Flats, very thin-sliced "roll" that looks like a very flat English muffin.

    Baguette, Baton, Ficelle, Flûte

Some French-style breads are long and narrow, and you have control over how thick or thin to cut the pieces. So you can have thinner slices of bread and enjoy the flavor and texture of a fine bread with relatively few calories-a half ounce (four thin slices) is 35 calories. You can't make a sandwich with them, but they do make excellent toasts to go with eggs, jumbo "croutons" for salads and soups, or general crunchy-crusted accompaniments. We enjoy ours with cottage cheese, plain yogurt, sugar-free jam and diet spreads. See a definition and photo of the different types of French bread.

I worked out this morning: 30 mins of brisk walking in my basement. It felt great!

I picked up 3- 5x7 tablets last year in Michaels thinking they were great for the grandkids to color in but when I looked closer at them, I realized they were Food & Execise Journals. Didn't give them away, got out one Fri & am writing down everything I'm eating. Boy, is that an eye-opener! I'm keeping track of my calories as well. Fri & Sat were each under 1000 cals, Sun was 1645. I need to go to that website, I think Meecie posted it (?), & see how many calories I should have per day for my age & height. I'm figuring all calories, down to the Taco sauce I had on my 2 tacos each Sat & Sun. Kinda fun to do actually.

Embarassed DH brought home some Valentine candy, little cinnamon Jelly hearts & some sour cherry balls. I got into them so that wrecked my Sunday calorie count! Frown They are only out at this time of the year, but I will have no more.

I had a tunafish sandwich for lunch & will have a small bowl of homemade bean soup tonight. Water consumption is going well, I always drink lots.

    I feel motivated.

    Thanks birdies!

    Go Robins!!!!!

Edited to add: The calorie website is at MayoClinic & was posted by suzwes. Wanted to correct that.

The Cranes need all the help they can get (since we're a small team), I'm on my second 32 oz of water for the day!  Eating lowfat string cheese for my afternoon snack.  Just came back from a short walk and stair climbing (my break from work).  GO CRANES!

    Doing good here, too!

Ate my big salad with very little lo-cal dressing first for dinner last night and then had a small serving (probably half of what I would have normally had) of the lasagna my DH and I made.  Got my water intake in yesterday (64 oz)!!!

Spent most of today taking down and packing away Christmas decorations.  Big salad for lunch.  On track today as well, with water.

Heading down to my treadmill now!!

That tuna pita looks so good...

Patoo, sooooo funny on the depends!!

    Talk to you all later.

    GO CRANES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
