I have my paperwork, I just have to make the appointment, and am using my trip to see Matt and my impending MRI as excuses not to schedule right now.  I know I have to get it done.

Faithie, my DH went out in the yard last night and came in with his jaw dropped to the floor.  He said "you pruned the tree. You REALLY pruned the tree!"  What was a tangled mass of branches spanning 15 feet in diameter and probably that high is now a trim little stubby tree of 8-9 feet and maybe 7 foot in diameter.  I also chopped all the branches except those which were over 2 inches in diameter.  I got started and couldn't stop.

I like Patoo's suggestion of writing everything on a calendar.  My muddled mind can flow one week to the next easy.

Faithie, I like when you said you needed clarification on water.  I thought of lake water and a filter?

     Hi Ladies,

I would really love to join all of you in your quest to eat better, exercise more and, in my case, lose some weight!

Some background.... I finished active treatment and started Tamoxifen 1 year ago in October.  Gained a little bit of weight for the next couple of months but nothing too huge.  Quit smoking in January of last year gained some weight but then it seemed to stabilize for a bit.  Then my dog died, ironically of cancer,  this past summer.  I was just devasted!  She and I had been through some pretty rough  stuff and her diagnosis hit a bit too close to home!

After that, it just seems like I have no motivation at all and the pounds have just started to add up!  Since I did not have to have "quit smoking" as my New Years resolution this year, I have decided it is time to GET REAL with these pounds that have piled on and DO something about it!!

I have begun my exercise regime and would really appreciate being part of a team to help keep me going on the right path!  It worked so well for me on the quit smoking thread and am hoping for the same results here!!!

If the teams are full, I would be happy as a member of the flock!

My current weight is, OH MY, 167 lbs (up 20 pounds in the past 1 1/2 years) Cry.  I would like to drop those 20 lbs that I have gained.  I do believe that it really isn't about what size you are or the number that shows up on the scale and more about how you FEEL!

I felt much better, physically, when I was a bit lighter!   Not to mention that this time out, the weight gain seems to have settled around my middle.  Something that I have heard is NOT good for women who are ER+.

Bottom line... my goal is to improve my health in 2011!!  Hope to join your group!

I don't want to seem heartless, but I was thinking it would be the preventative type appointments, not active treatment, but I will see what others think.  If we do count rads, then we need to disperse those in rads between the teems.  Does that seem harsh?

Good evening ladies!  I have gone back and looked at the list of who is on my team... Please tell me if this is correct:  Valjean, Melody2, Oakley, SAMayoFL, and zogo plus myself.  Did I leave anyone out or add anyone that has been moved to another team?  Meece???

Please help me keep up with your points and the tally for yourself and I will help you if you have any questions.  I will do my best to tally up our points and post for Meece on Saturday morning.  I will try to incorporate walking further from the parking lot into the building at work to get some exercise since I can't officially exercise or use the treadmill yet.  I really have to add some extra protein to my diet.  I have this open wound from my surgery and the darned thing is just NOT HEALING- it's an area about 1/4 inch long.  It is just plain stubborn!!

On a much different note: this is a little funny... I showed my oldest DD my incisions on my breasts today and my 10 yr old granddaughter wanted to see.  Well I saw no problem with it and because she knew about my cancer and partial mastectomy and saw my surgery incisions from that.  Well she cringed and then asked me why my left breast and nipple was bigger than the right one... LOL!  I had to explain that I still have bruising and swelling from the surgery I had and that in a few months it will go down and look more like the other breast.  Thank the Lord my oldest DD is a nurse and can help explain.  Wink  She knows way too much to be 10 but she will enter the world with her eyes wide open and knowledgable.

    Renee

Welcome to the Cranes Seaside!  Glad to have you on the team.  All of the ladies here are so fun and great motivators!  I attended my last holiday party today and although I had some really fattening foods at the party, I didn't stuff myself as usual and -- I only had one rum and diet coke(66 calories).  No more parties that I'm aware of in the foreseeable future.

Wii Fit tomorrow! (I was going to do it today but forgot about the party and that was an all afternoon party).

Ok lady Cranes, lets have a great week - Goooooo Team!

Edited to add, great to "see" you Renee!  Glad your feeling well enough to lead a team!

Mimi, I had my last recon 13 months ago.  It took forever for all the stitches to dissolve and I also had a couple of openings about 1/4".  They healed eventually and you really can't tell much difference in the scar.  I was to the point I thought I was going to have to go back and have the stitched up again.  I can sympathize, Mimi.

Thanks so much for the welcome!  We are a small team starting out but, yet, so was the snowball that turned into an avalanche!

Glad to be on your team!

We will play it by ear the next couple of days to see who else joins, or who will drop.  Then we may need to even out the teams.  Be comforted Seaside, Suz is small but she is mighty.

    WELCOME TO THE LAB, Seaside!!!

You're in very good hands with Suz & we'll get the whole team concept sorted out soon enough. You're timing is perfect & you're in on the ground floor of our motivational team concept.

As to the points for rads/or chemo or PT appointment or whatever someone might need to go to for active treatment, I'm certainly not against the earning of a point for such a needed appointment. The reality is that anyone going to daily rads is probably not going to be able to exercise at length during that time frame, so a point for "gettin' er done" seems like positive reinfocement to me.

Meecie, you're the ref -- so whatever you say is fine with me.

I'm still not sure I have the absolute water clarification, (no I'm not talking about filters: LOL) once you get that totally defined I think I have everything clear in my head.

We each get to make up our own 1 point for extra credit -- per week.

I still think we can put this past/first week down as a dry-run and begin brand new w today. That way it's fair to everyone new to the LAB that had not yet processed the whole exercise concept.

    Again, whatever you wanna do.........................

Off to my blog, where I am so far behind.

Last year at the Airport in Hawaii my FSIL said.

    <Sheila you almost disapeared.>

I think I was 173 lb when he saw me. There I was 158 something.

Well, here is a tidbit of info.

In the past week our group has lost a collective 17.4 lbs.  Just think what is possible when we are all on track!

Okay, how about if we consider all medical appointments as a point, after all, everytime we go to a physician, we are working towards a healthier life, right?  What do you think?

I have a question please.  Do we pm our weekly weight and exercize totals to our team captain or post here daily and they keep track?

oakley:  I will send you a PM with some baked chicken favorites in our house so it doesn't take up so much room on this very full board.

If anyone else wants them they can feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to share.Smile

I did go 1 mile today on our Gazelle machine in 15.30 minutes.  It's a start.

    Faith,

Thanks for the welcome! I know we're early out and things are still getting shuffled around while we figure out what is the best way to do all of this!  It's a huge project and I know it will be really great once it gets all settled out. Just happy to have found you all for now and will go with whatever you all decide.

As far as the water, I think I will just keep track of and post how much I drank (water that is!)  until we get an official ruling on what that should be.  I am a part of another thread where they have emphasized that you really need to stay hydrated to ward of the aging effects of treatment so have been up'ing my water intake! May be able to kill 2 birds.... errrrr... given the name of our teams I don't think finishing that quote would be appropriate but I'm sure you get what I mean... lol

Ladies, I think we are about to accomplish something wonderful !  I thank you all for starting it and I look forward to being a part of it!  Have my walking shoes ready to go for tomorrow!

Keep track of your week's activities and report them here on Fridays.  Your team leader will them collect the info and pass on the totals.  Feel free to post positives or even difficulties you encounter throughout the week.  It is all about the support, so take advantage of it.  Posting meal ideas, exercise ideas and other tricks or hints is really important.

If anyone has a problem with sweets being their downfall (don't most of us?) I can personally say that the Russell Stover sugar free candies are fantastic!  Wal-Mart sells bags for around $1.50.  That is the cheapest I've found.  If you have a yen for candy bar, eating just one will satisfy you.
