Hi My Friends -

I am proud to brag that I achieved my goal of running 500 miles in 2010.  I ran a 1/2 marathon in September but mostly my runs have been 3-5 miles.  Proof that we can achieve our goals if we are committed.  Two of the months I didn't run at all due to healing from surgery.

2010 was a spectacular year.  I feel that I am in a really good place.  Still adjusting to working full time but I am happy!  Tim & I are leaving for Hawaii for 2 weeks on Jan 11th.  A very special trip for us as we had booked this trip and had to cancel due to breast cancer.  We are very excited and  have plans to do lots of hiking.  (Photos will be one facebook)

Yes, I still have my 'moments' but that is what they are now.  As long as I keep running, cancer can't catch me!   Thank you to all my bc.org friends.  You have inspired me to be stronger that I ever thought I could be.

Blessings to you all.

Bev

    Good for you Bev!!

Wonderful to hear. I am so glad you are on the other side, feeling strong and healthy, and living life.

Have a blast in Hawaii - we are off ourselves on a Carribean cruise on the 21st.

Hope 2011 is even better for you than 2010!

Good for you, Bev!  I never thought about logging all the miles I'm running.  I don't set many goals for myself, but maybe I should.  I hope your vacation is awesome!

Kerry, love your nice long hair!

    Hugs to All!

Wow! Do you mind if I asked you if you were running already before your diagnosis and treatment? I want to start running too after I finish treatment. However I was not a very athletic person before all this and sometimes think I'm being unrealistic...

I proclaim you to be the one to run 500 miles and 500 more! Love that song!

I have the clumsiness gene and can't run so I'm jealous.   Several members of my family including my mother and eldest son have run long distance so I don't know why I missed out but I've tried and persisted many times including my school days and my legs and stamina just give up till I'm a heap of jelly and that's after only once round the block alternating running and walking.

I love your attitude and applaud you all the way.

    Thanks Everyone

Kerry - Enjoy your cruise!  I will be looking forward to seeing photos.

I have been a runner off and on since high school but really took it up on a regular basis about 17 years ago.  Then, took about 5 years off due to knee injuries.  I had scope surgery on both knees Sept/08 (just before bc - Dec/08).  Surgeon said no running till Jan/09.  But, due to reconstruction, chemo etc did not start back until around August/09.

I find keeping an exercise journal very motivating.  I used to keep track of my running but thanks to Mary, I record all of my exercise in a pocket journal.  I try to keep a food journal also, but I cheat.

    We are going to Oahu.

    Cheers!

    Bev

Beverly-  Your 500 miles is inspirational.  Makes me want to start logging my runs to see how far I can go in 2011.  I'm sure you have encouraged many with your post.

We lived on Oahu for 3 years and absolutely loved it.  I actually started running while in Hawaii.  We'd love to get back for a visit.  One thing you may want to check out, if they still have it is the Hilton Waikiki on Friday evenings.  They used to have a free weekly hula show and fireworks, all it took was arriving and buying a drink poolside (ok so some cost).  This hotel has a beautiful courtyard with tropical penguins (smelly, but fun to see).  I'm sure you will have a wonderful time.

Congratulations!! I counted my running miles too!!! I ran 412 this year. Not as much as you but I'm still pretty darn proud. I ran my first half marathon in Feb of 2010 and I'm doing 2 this year. I only started running in April of 2009 so to think that I've only been running for 1 year and 8 months is amazing to me. I'm not throwing in the towel, I have a long run of 8 miles planned for TODAY!!!!!

I also track my miles every time I run. If I run at the gym I include calories burned (just a me thing). It's great to look back and see how far I've come.

Turning on my iPod, listening to some Black Eyed Peas and hitting the trail!!! Happy running.
