I'm in for the 10..........and then some.  I used to workout like a mad woman and somewhere in the last few years between my DD's illness, then mine lost track of my exercise routine.  So much so that I don't want to tell you what I weigh.  I started walking again over the weekend, made a delicious salad with hearts of palm, artichokes and pecans.

I have noticed that the old saying you are what you eat is so true.  When I eat healthy I so much more energy and feel better than when I eat junk - that should be incentive enough.

Ladies- one thing I learned when I did this weight loss a few years back is that you have to eat to lose weight (seriously). Small snacks throughout the day provide the fuel for your body to burn calories. Also, drink lots of water.

Today I had a cup of Special K, a tiny portion of breakfast casserole for lunch (@ 1/4 cup), some veal stew (just the meat and tomato sauce, none of the rice) and Activia for an evening snack.

I allowed myself about 1 dozen M&Ms and did 15 minutes on the elliptical. Knowing we are all in this together is quite motivating!

    Cheers!

    Jenn- your salad sounds yummy!

Ok I found you!  5'8' and 170 as of this morning.  The day I went for my first appt with BC I was 146 (May 2009)  would like to lose the 10lbs but would be happier with 5 or 10 more.

    ThanksHeidiToo for starting this thread

134 today, but that's nothing new. I always seem to "stick" at 134 and Thursday I am having an Open House for friends to see the Dept. 56 houses. Lots of food too.

What to do, what to do....

    Hi all,

Thank you for looking into that info.

I am ER+ and was already told that Goji juice is a no go cause of the phytoestrogens in it so I guess no Hydroxicut for me.

However, I have cut all my carbs as of yesterday (bad carbs like bread, sugar, potatos) and have made a huge pot of cabbage soup to eat as a snack!

So far I feel great!  Will step on the scale next week to see my results.

    Hugs

A friend of mine has a Droid and she said that you go to Marketplace and do a search for Calorie Counter and then you can enter the foods you eat and it will count the calories for you.  She said another good tool is Jog Tracker.

The Calorie counter for Droid sounds good.  I'm sure iPhone has an application, too.  I have Blackberry and I can pretty much guarantee there will be no app for me! I saw something online awhile ago for self magazine. I might check that out.

I just use a notebook and pen to count calories! LOL!

I am aiming for 1500 per day.  Any less and I set myself up for a binge.  I did well yesterday but didn't make it to the gym. (ended up having to see an MD over lunchFrown)

Today, I've done OK with regard to eating.  I walked 1 mile with the dogs this am and did another 1.5 miles over lunch.  Each evening, the kids (and dogs!) and I always do 1/2 mile but I don't "count" that because that evening walk is slooooooowwwww... Maggie spends lots of time looking at leaves, flowers, rocks, whatever. The dogs are busy sniffing... and I frequently stop to chat with my neighbors!

Hope everyone has a great day!

    xxoo

Ok I am in for the wieght loss thing and I think it is great that we can all keep each other accountable and motivated.  I have more to loose than most of you but I am working on it. I had really let things good and gained alot of weight, ate out too much because of the busy schedules and work.  Now not letting that be any excuse.  So far to date I have lost 60 pounds this this whole thing started and am working on losing 40 more.  That will put me at a good weight.  I am running 5-6 days a week and should run between 28 and 30 miles this week.  Ran 5 miles this morning.  Have also been using the Wii playing justdance 2 its a great workout, plus I have changed my diet.  Instead of eating 3 meals a day, the nutritionist that I had to see (actually had to see 2 of them once the medical oncologist had me and then the radiation oncologist had me see one) I now eat 5-6 times a day, small meals and low in fat.

OK, count me in too!  I had gotten quite out of control prior to this diagnosis, but the intital anxiety took off 10 lbs painlessly, and the lack of appetite and taste via chemo took off 20 more!  Would still like to drop 10-20 more, and also desperately want to get my energy back to be able to go to the gym and participate in my favorite winter sports (skiing, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing)  Had my final TC treatment today, so will have to play it by ear this week, but I'm in this fight for real!

I got down to 124 pounds doing 20% low fat after my diagnosis, but I just don't feel like doing that strict a diet anymore. Somehow, I have to find the balance between what is satisfying and what works.

So far today I've had a cup of Special K for b-fast and tomato basil soup with a chicken caesar salad for a late lunch at a local restaurant. I was a *very* good girl and had no dessert.

Later I will have a banana and some yogurt. I still have to get past my party Thursday.

I started the day with a blueberry yogurt smoothy (with ground flaxseeds, banana and some kefir)...for lunch shrimp stirfry at a new healthy fast food wok place and homemade pasta e fagioli soup, which I'll also have for lunch tomorrow. When I'm following a good diet, I usually make hearty low fat soups on Sundays and Wednesdays and take for lunch at work..along with a few different low fat salads (bean, coleslaw, pasta, etc.).   I've been bad lately so I'm getting back into my old "good" habit. My ultimate goal is to fit into my wedding dress again.  It fit me before I quit smoking...had kids...got lazy...got breast cancer, etc., etc.  So it's going to my gauge as to when I've achieved my goal.  My DD recently asked me what's in the big bag in the spare room closet so I showed it to her and she wanted me to try it on.  Well, I couldn't get it anywhere close to doing up and that was depressing. That's my goal.  I'm also resolving to do 10,000 steps every day. I just finished my walk on the treadmill and I'm at 10,502 for the day so far.  Goals achieved for today.

I'm dieting also! For Christmas I got a Bodybugg and its helping motivate me to walk that extra mile. It measures metabolic rate and steps walked and calories burned each day.  I am particularly motivated when I can see my calories burned per minute (metabolic rate) go higher with any exercise. You wear it on your arm and wrist, and its kind of fun.

I went to the store and bought some fruit, veggies and high fiber bread.  I made a nice dinner tonight - baked tilapia with meyer lemon, black pepper and a dash of salt.  Then, I made a mango salsa to go on top of it (mangos, tomatoes, onion, cilantro and more meyer lemon).  It was really yummy!  My husband loved it.  I had a couple Trader Joe's cookies (oops), but they were yummy too!  I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 1 lb!  :)

Sugar77 - I love your new profile pic.  Your hair looks really cute!  :)

Hi All - I'm late getting to this thread - took a few days off the computer as I find my anxiety creeps up if I read too many studies....I am way heavier than most of you it seems like - even though I've lost 9 lbs. since diagnosis due to stress I think.  I'm now at 172 as of my last doctor appointment.

I have been not so good the past few days as my husband made a huge batch of soft chewy ginger cookies - supposedly because ginger is good for nausea, but mostly becuase they are his favorite!  I have been having a big salad every night for dinner with a smaller than normal portion of whatever we're having for dinner.  Switched to multigrain hot cereal with blueberries for breakfast.  Made a great lentil salad for lunch today - Trader Joe's has pre-cooked lentils so it's super easy.  Small changes but a start.  Plan to walk tomorrow with a friend (a 2-yr TN, BRCA+ survivor).  Also have a wii and some of the fitness games so may try and fit that in too - hoping to work tomorrow also and that means a commute into SF so that takes a bite out of my day but I think it will be good to get out and about.

Thanks to all for the motivation!

I went to the grocery yesterday and stocked up on lots of good for me foods.  Today I had oatmeal for breatkfast, a low fat single serving of vegetable lasagna and Greek yogurt for a snack and I haven't decided on dinner my DH is working late at the last minute, but think it'll be left over blackeyed peas with turkey sausage and some cabbage.

Pedometer is at 10,934 after doing my 45 minute treadmill walk.  Had leftover pasta e fagioli soup for lunch and baked almond crusted chicken breast, fingerling potatoes with fresh rosemary, homemade low fat coleslaw and spinach salad for dinner. Now just settling in for a cup of green tea and two small squares of extra dark chocolate (80%) for an antioxidant treat. It's been a good day.

Walked for a total of 3 miles today... and ate pretty well.  Even including a large-ish glass of red wine, I'm at 1500 calories. Going to bed... my alarm goes off at 4:15am to start it all over again.

    goodnight!

Weigh ins... that is serious!  Reminds me of Weight Watchers.  I used to go to those meetings and remember feeling bad when I maintained my weight (and didn't lose anything).  LOL! Or I went up 0.5 lbs and felt guilty.  I decided to weigh myself every day and stopped attending the meetings.  It worked.  The scale used to be behind our bar.  My DH thought I had an early morning drinking problem.  Come to find out, it was just my daily weigh ins!  LMAO!!!

My scale hasn't moved a bit.  I thought I'd been extra-good these past couple of days, but need to get serious.  Trying not to get into the depressed eating mode.

Hi, I lost 5 lbs this week cutting my carbs out.

    No bread, no potatos.

Egg whites and tomato in the morning.

Cabbage soup and organic turkey lunch meat and salad for lunch.

Snack is cabbage soup and fat free cheese and veggies.

Last night for dinner I had some chicken, beans and some cous couse...

Snack was cottage cheese and pineapple.

Seems to be working!!!!  My pants feel loser!!!!

Now I just need to be able to sustain this way of eating into next week when I am away for 3 days.

    Hugs and Be strong!

I'm thinking yesterday and today may fall into, what in my house is referred to as: Epic Fail.

Played cards yesterday with friends and had delicious dip and bean soup. Tonight is my Open House and I am preparing a lot of food (I rarely cook, so this is significant). Hopefully I can get back on track tomorrow, but at least the scale isn't going up: still hanging at 134.

I KNOW I'm not as rigid as I have been in the past, either counting calories or 20% low fat (both of which worked great for me in the past).

I think I am using the BC crap as an excuse--- but then again, maybe not. I vacillate between feeling guilty for not dropping pounds and feeling relieved that I am (hopefully) out of the woods with this sh*t and, therefore, I have earned my right to eat as I choose.

Problem is, I still want the pounds off!

I know you guys can relate...

As for listing eveyone's weight at the top I am happy to do that. PM me the info and I will do it for those who want, and update as desired.
