Hey Melinda - how did it go with the beau meeting your girls? Hope your reno is going well.
Sue
-
Sue: Things went well with the "meeting", nice and casual. He helped me unload the mattress, hung out for a little pizza, made some small talk with the kids....they gave him the thumb's up.
The redecorating is done, now I just have to put the rest of the house bck together. But the kids are thrilled and their rooms look great!
-
Melinda, sounds like things went well. I am sure it must be so hard to bring someone new into their lives. I think I would find that hard. Hope everyone had a great xmas. It was a quiet one here. I did have a funny thing happen the other day. My Dh had to come to work to drop something I forgot. And while he was there a customer asked me out on a date, right in front of him....awkward....I did ponder for a few moments, but I eventually did decline....It kind of made day. I guess I still got it. I am sure this time last year, this would nopt have happened.
-
Wishing you joy, peace, hope, and love, now and throughout the year.
Annette

Melinda: Glad your redecorating is done and the meeting with the girls went well. I told you he was a keeper.
Nette: Great photo!!
Michele: You've still got it girl!!! What did DH say afterwards?
It's STILL raining and more to come - lucky we live on a hill. It's been great to not have the usual heat but I have to keep draining water out of the pool.
DD called from Rio de Janiero yesterday - they're having a great time. Sounds like a surfing holiday for SIL but she is getting to see the sights. They're coming to visit us for a night or 2 on their way home later in January.
We'll be eating turkey sandwiches for a while - lots of left overs - but it's my favourite sandwich so I don't mind.

Thanks, Sue.
I had typed a posting prior to sending the pic, but it disappeared in cyberspace somewhere. oh well.
I had mentioned, like Sue, that Michele must still have it. What a great way to end the year!
Melinda: sounds like all went well with the Meet-the-Beau day. So glad everyone is pleased with the renov. you must have a great feeling of accomplishment!
Colds are making the rounds of the household: DH has been sick the last 3 days, DS was sick at the beginning of last week, and DD was sick the week before that. Guess it's my turn, as I feel like the beginning of a cold coming. Have been taking Airborne like crazy to help keep it at bay. Hope it works or at least keeps it a mild one.
Have a great evening! Nette
-
Yes, I am still hot, but it comes in flashes.
-
Nette: Beautiful family and photo .
Michele: You made me laugh with your hotness coming in flashes! So was your DH just tapping his foot waiting to see how long it would take you to decline? Way to keep him on his toes!
Sue: Enjoy the sandwiches, I ended up with ham, no turkey brought home this year.
-
I cheated and bought the turkey breast already cooked. I get one every year - gave up cooking hot stuff on Xmas day years ago. It's all salad and ham, turkey etc. but I make really special salads. I thought a ham might be a bit too much for just the 2 of us. I have turkey, cheese and cranberry sauce sandwiches most days at work, so I'm happy.
-
HI everyone !!! I hope you all had a blessed Christmas. Enjoyed time spent with family and friends. I have my sister and niece staying with us. First time in 2 years I've seen her. So far so good.... She is in the picture with me, it is my brothers my sister and my mom. (1 brother not in the photo- estranged) Nettie loved your family pic so I pulled one off my nieces FBook ~
BIG HUGS,
Alicia
-
Awesome pic, Alicia! You look amazing!
-
Alicia, you all have the same mouth. Lovely picture.
-
Alicia: Lovely family!
Does anyone have big plans for New Years? Do ya'll do resolutions?
Sue: What's the news, are you going to do more rads? Sorry if I missed it, I can't remember what the verdict was.
-
I don't do resolutions. Would never keep them if I did.
My kids and I are getting together with my extended family for new year's weekend. Will be our "Christmas gathering." Should be 15 of us in all. I'll get to see my first great-nephew that was born 5 1/2 weeks premature and is doing wonderfully.
Am getting over a cold that Santa brought me for Christmas. :P
Happy Weds! Nette

Melinda: Saw big onc yesterday as I wanted him to review the pathology and look at my mammo from last year. He said it would have been hard to pick. He agrees it looks like the same spot but can see why it wasn't reported. Rads start mid January. He wasn't cross I'd had my port out while he was away.
I did some weeding on Tuesday taking advantage of the wet soil, then put in 2 new plants and mulched the garden I weeded. Now I can move on to the next one - we have too many garden beds - eeek.
We've decided to go away for a week on the 7th Jan - to an island just off Brisbane - you get there by vehicle barge. We have a place to stay for free and we can go beach fishing - there are some fantastic beaches over there and a couple of freshwater lakes. Then I'll be all rested up ready for the rads to start.
New Year will be quiet as usual - we're too old to do anything but sleep
Sue
-
Ooops we fell off the first page again - BUMP!!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR GIRLS!!!! Hopefully this year will be a better one for all of us.
Sue
-
I hope everyone has a wonderful new year. What difference a year makes. Last year, I managed to stay up until new years, but I didn't get to enjoy the yummy food my daughter and I made for us to eat. This year I plan to starve myself for the day in preparation....celebrate ladies...
-
HI girls !
Just popping in to wish everyone a very Happy New Year ! AND a HEALTHY ONE.... I am not a big fan of New Year's Eve. I find it a bit sad ~ and a very overrated holiday. Tomorrow I will do one more bit of entertaining having my family and hubby's family over for a big dinner. My sister leaves to go home on Sunday as well as my in-laws. School Monday I am looking forward to getting my house in order and some quiet this week.
Wishing you all a very Happy, Healthy 2011 !!
HUGS,
Alicia

We had a quiet night but we had a really nice dinner to celebrate.
I'm the 3,500th post on our thread !!!!!!
-
I'm 3, 501...yahoo...Ok now sue where do you see that?
So ladies I was wondering, but still trying not to use my brains to much today...which one of us celebrated New Years first? Would that be you Sue? I never was that good a geography, and my chemo brain is kicking in. hope you all had a great evening. We stayed went out to supper and then came home and watched a couple of movies with our daughter. Our sun did what most teenagers did, and played video games on the computer...long gone are the days when the house was rocking and we had to spend the day in bed because of a hangover. Don't miss that part.
-
Happy New Years Ladies ! Hope everyone had a safe and happy one.
I spent mine in the hospital with pneumonia...what the hell is that about? I am on two IV antibiotics waiting for for something to kick in. They don't know when I may be able to go home, they say I am pretty sick. I sure do feel like shit.
Be well!
-
(((((((Hugs for Melinda))))))) get better soon..
-
Happy New Year's, my sisters!
(((Melinda))) WTH? What a way to ring in the new year! Get well soon.
I got back from FL Thursday. I'm still unpacking. Prepping my pork ribs for tonight, making my shrimp, got the black-eyed peas stewing and fried the bacon for my collards. Have I missed anything? Champagne is on ice.
I always make the traditional New Year's Day dinner. The one year I didn't (2009), I had a terrible car accident and was dx with BC. Needless to say, I'm not missing another one
-
Melinda: WTF??? How has this happened - you have to take better care of yourself - you've been working too hard. Hope the anitbiotics work well and you are better soon.
Michele: When you go to the chemotherapy topic main page - it shows the number of posts for a thread. Yes we had New Year's eve before you guys.
I've been gardening in the rain!!! I have now weeded and mulched 4 areas of the garden and my green bin is full - still lots left to do. I'll have to hold off doing any more until it's collected on Tuesday morning. We have only just had green bins delivered in our area and they are emptied once a fortnight - it's the best Xmas present ever for me - I love it. Of course it costs me extra on my rates bill but it's worth it. Not many people seem to have taken them up so far. We also get vouchers we can use at the dump and can dump stuff for free but it's a hassle covering the load and driving there to dump it. We emptied the trailer a week or so ago, so I have to resist filling it up again.
Love and hugs to you all
Sue

Linda: glad you got your new years dinner made so all traditions are taken care of.
My mom says you have to have the decorations down by the end of new years day and eat the black eyed peas.
Day three in the hospital. still on oxygen, 2 types of iv antibiotics, breathing treatments every couple of hours. I was really not expecting this, I had just been a little run down and the breathing was getting worse and worse.
But this counts as my bummer for the year, so I should be good for the rest of 2011.
I don't know why that typed big, I am on DD's notebook computer, but I will assume that is a sign that it is correct!
-
Melinda: I hope you won't be there for much longer. This year is going to be better for all of us!!!! that is after I get through the rads again (:
(((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))))
-
(((((MELINDA)))))))))) healing hugs for YOU ! So sorry you are so sick, I hope you are on the mend and get to go home !!!
I met someone who's mom was Stage IV ~ both breasts, positive nodes, she had chemo and rads she is on year 6 NO evidence of disease. SOOO WOO HOO !

Happy New Year to the fellow Warriors on the Nov 2009 Starting Chemo Thread. Havent posted in quite awhile but do read all your posting daily. Big Hugs to to Melinda and to Sue..Healing thoughts coming your way .
I just finished my last herceptin on Wed. , then had my port removed on Thursday..I was already to experience a 15 min or so procedure, turned into over 45 minutes . It was just as bad as when they installed the port. When Dr. cut me open, a big spray of blood squirted out and landed in my left eye, and dripped down my face !! I had a male nurse who really wasnt too worried about it until I said "Can I get a tissue here as My eye is stinging from my mascara mixed with blood !!"..I put my brave face on as Dr. worked to stop bleeding and remove the port . My chest is bruised some , but just glad that part is over. I didnt want to leave it in , and Dr. said he usually likes to leave it in for 6 months after ,"Just in Case ", but I said there is going to be no case ! He agreed .
My onocologist (who I just loved) moved on and is no longer working for the medical team at Upstate. I was so upset , but glad I had her for the whole treatment this past year. When I saw her the last time a few weeks ago she never mentioned she was leaving but gave me a LONG hug and also to my husband like it was going to be last time she would see me. Guess I was right on that. I have met my new onco and really trust and like him and all the nurses seem to think he is the best. He does not run any scans either, only if I have symptoms. ???
Get this the nurse the day of my port removal says "Oh we hardly ever see your type of BC , its not a good one to have, I think I have only seen 2 women on herceptin , " I said no BC is a good one and heceptin has helped many of us HER2 women ....so you can see I wasnt feeling too good about the whole port removal experience !! Once I saw my youngest son in waiting room and said "You are so strong and have done awesome this past year " I felt so much better.
It feels good to be back on this board, moving on after treatment is done is a different journey. With different concerns , but I plan on making 2011 a better one and enjoy Cosmo Free (as my girlfriend and I called BC) ! Cheers

Hey everyone!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Been out of town for the new year's weekend and a day. Kept my DS out of school for today to stay an extra day at my folks after having spent the weekend at a sister's with my entire extended family, to include the newest member...a 2 month old baby boy who was 5 1/2 weeks premmie. Needless to say, he was the hit of the party!!
Had to take some time this afternoon to get caught up on the postings:
Sue: thanks for keeping the postings going while the rest of us were gone!
Melinda: I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU GOT PNEUMONIA!!! Can you not stay out of the hospital??!! You make sure you do what the doctors say and get out as soon as possible! ((((((HUGS)))))))
cat60: good to hear from you! Sorry the deporting was such a fiasco. Hope all's well and you are no longer bruised. I hadn't heard of leaving the port in for extra time "just in case." Glad to hear you like the new onc. "Nurse Ratchet" needs to work on her tact.
Can't imagine why she would say something so negative!
Linda: Hopefully FL was warm while you were there.
Wishing all a very healthy new year!!! Nette
-
Melinda : Hope you're getting better!!!!!
Bump
