TN Ten Pounds Take-Off
To all,
As you can see, I've deleted the original weigh-in post, as I'm not as active in BC.org and didn't want it to become too outdated. Heck, we all know what we weigh anyhow, and what we'd like to achieve.
I'm hoping that many of you will continue to find (and use) this thread as a tool for sharing ideas, goals and recipes for triple negative BC, (or any other BC for that matter). While there are some studies that show TNBC may benefit from slightly different approaches to diet and exercise, in the end we are all just women trying to make good choices.
And, if we can shed an elusive ten pounds in the process... go for it!

Hi ladies! Now that I'm back from New Orleans and all the yummy food and decadent deserts, I'm ready to get back on the healthy eatin' train. I plan to get back to my regular 45 minute walks on the treadmill and will return to the gym to swim at least once a week with my daughter. I'm also going to try to snack less at night. I also plan to get back to doing strength training 3 times a week. Maybe I'll look half descent in a swim suit come spring...or I can buy a new spring wardrobe!!

Sugar77,
My diagnosis is the same as yours - but about one year later. I have had 2 of the TCx4. My fingertips just started to develop white blisters. Did that happen to you? Did you have radiation? Do you remember the time between your last infusion and when your hair regrew enough to go out without a headcover?
Thanks for any info!

Hi Chrissy - I'll send you a private message. You might also want to check out the threat entitled "Calling all TNS"...where you'll meet a lot of the lovely ladies who are doing this TN 10-pound take off for the new year.
-
Ok I'm in.And this thread is now in my favs.
-
add me please! Before BC I was at 140 and chemo brought me down to 118 - too skinny for me at 5'6". I got back up to about 132 and was happy there, but since the summer I've creeped back up to 140
My plan - stop eating so much stuff. I exercise moderately and I don't see me having time for a lot more, but I can definitely cut back on the goodies, especially since the holidays are over. Going to try for smaller lunches, more low-fat dinners.
-
Please add me in. I will "try" running tomorrow and slowly reduce my diet to 1200 calories. I had previously spent over $2,000 over a period of 1.5 years doing Medifast, which really does work. I had lost up to 30 lbs., but in retrospect, I sometimes think that Medifast might have contributed to my cancer. They have soy protein in all their products. It is a long story, a very long one, but ladies, be careful trying any type of diet foods. One thing is that they don't allow you to eat fruits during the diet, but I prolonged the diet so very long and did not have fruit in my diet which means no anti-oxidants. Check the ingredients carefully, please. I am going to try it on real food and exercise. I am overweight and feeling really bad about myself. Thanks for starting this thread, Heidi.

I'm in, too. I post on the daily exercise thread, but will add this to my favs as well. I got an exercise bike for Christmas, and will alternate riding it with doing some strength training. Will stop all this holiday food junk. I cleaned the fridge this evening and did major disposal dump.
Does anyone know a good calorie counter site, where you can enter your daily food intake and see approx calories?
-
In addition to posting our progress, I'm hoping we'll all share recipes as well. I have no groceries now having just returned from vacation so my fridge is a blank slate. I like to make healthy, hearty soups and take to work for my lunch so hopefully I can share some of favourite soups and perhaps get a few new recipes. I'm not going to count calories per se. I want to watch my fat intake and increase my exercise so the weight comes off more slowly but stays off.

hey everyone! OK- so my board break won't include this thread! LOL!
I weighed in this am and want to lose 5-10#.
I did a Leslie Sansone "Walk Away the Pounds" 30 min DVD this am and brought my clothes to go to the student center over lunch (Step class or treadmill depending on the timing).
I brought leftovers of this for lunch (without chips):

OK I weighed in this morning. I am 146# at 5' 4" tall. I am at least 10# lighter than when I began the bc jouney and at least 10-# heavier than my lightest going through chemo. I'm not sure it is realistic for me to get back to that weight but I want to be under 140 - looks good and feels good. Like Sherri I am not going to count calories, but look for moderation etc and exercise!
Good luck ladies.

. That means I gained 2 pounds during the holidays. Anyway, I had a cup of Special K for breakfast and am trying not to think about food. Low fat (20%) and an awareness of calories (not really counting) have worked for me in the past. BUT hubby wasn't retired then and being King of the Kitchen, so getting him to scale back will be a bit more challenging. It was so much easier to have a lean cuisine for dinner each night!
Between my chronic stiff neck and the problems with my right knee (exacerbated by chemo, I believe) I will have to be careful what I do, but I get a lot of physical activity most days with the horses, so I'm not a total couch potato. Problem is, in winter I like to hunkerdown by the fire and read.
So, like some of you, my game plan is to cut out the naughty stuff and, like someone said, reduce pasta and bread--- BOTH stuff hubby likes to make--- a lot.
Forgot to add--- my goal is 122-125, but anything under 130 would be great. I'm 5'4".
-
150 lbs. for me with clothes on....guess I'm the chubbiest! Anyway..I'm 5'5"....
I'm ready to go walking/running after work today...it's cold out but it will do me good.
I plan on not eating so much as in smaller portions and drink a lot of water..
-
Yeah--- 15 minutes on the elliptical! Time for a chocolate reward (just kidding).
-
PLEASE ADD ME!!!!
Work out time! Work out time!!!!
I walked a half mile with my co-worker today. I'll do some more stuff later tonight.
-
I got you beat Titan.
I'm 165 and 5'8". I love being 150, but 155 will be a whole size smaller. I'm between an 8/10 and would love to fit in all things size 8.
-
I'm in. When I went to rads this morning, I was so relieved that they didn't weigh me! LOL! I didn't eat a lot this weekend, but somehow my jeans were tight on me this morning. Maybe it's water weight - LOL!!!
I'm 5'5" and weigh 140 lbs (from last week's weight). I'd like to weigh 130 lbs. My husband likes to eat a LOT. He's 6'2", so he can afford to eat a lot more than me. However, he's gained about 25 lbs in the last few years. We were talking on our way home yesterday about being more healthy. I already have the fridge stocked with some veggies.
I'm normally a size 8,sometimes 10 in pants (I have wide hips and big booty). I wouldn't mind being a size 6, sometimes 8. I got down to 130 lbs a few years ago, but I was just restricting my diet. I need to exercise more. I got Just Dance 2 and Zumba for our Wii for Christmas.
-
kittycat- Let me know how the Wii goes; how you like it and what you can do with it. I'm thinking of getting Netflix and was told it's easy if you have a game system. Our plasma screen is not internet ready, like some of the newer models that could receive the Netflix signal w/out a gaming unit attached.
We gave our oldest son an Xbox for Christmas but he uses it on the porch with his wide screen and I really don't want to be switching back and forth between his TV and "ours" in the den.
-
I used the Wii Fit games. They're pretty fun. However, I stopped playing with it last year since I was dx again with bc. Anyway, I'm pretty excited about the new games my DH bought. I got him Jeopardy and Guitar Hero. We haven't used the Wii with the internet connection. We have air cards, not a cable modem.

Hi, may I join u!
I am wanting to lose 20lbs. Starting today I have really cut the carbs and I am meeting my trainer in about an hour.
I want this year to be the year I drop this weight!
Hugs

PS...Heidi....the Hydroxy Cut...is this stuff ok for former cancer patients? Did you get the jitters? Did it work? Could you sleep at night?
Let me know.

Even though I'm triple negative, my onco wants me to stay away from soy. She said there is a possibility that I could get another new primary that is hormone positive. Hmmm...
-
kittycat- yeah, I hear you.

I wish it was spring. Too cold here to walk. I need exercise equipment.

Good Evening ladies. Happy New Year!!!! I am so exicited that we are all going to try to shed some pounds. This is a great motivation for me. Titan you are not the chubbiest, I am 156lbs and 5' 6. I wish I could go back down to 135lbs. We'll see. I just got back from my walk/run. It's 2.1 miles , I used to just walk, but I have been running about 1/3 of my route. My knees are screaming at me! LOL! I am trying to stay away from white rice and bread. I will keep you girls posted! Thanks for suggesting and creating thread.
