  1. I had a lumpectomy at the end of October.  Am stage 1 but haven't started radiation yet.  Half of my left breast on the opposite side of my breast from the lumpectomy has turned pink but there is no reason for it and it has no different feeling.  I had a shot of radioactive material to determine which lymph nodes to remove but that was 3 months ago and my breast just got the pink color 6 days ago.  It covers about 1/2 the breast.  Anyone have any idea about what this could be?

loopey, couple of thoughts. You can get a late onsent infection.  Are you feeling dragged out or ill, any fever?  Breast more painful recently?  The other possibility is lymphedema.  You can get it in the breast, and having the redness distant from the lumpectomy site makes me wonder about it.

I have this too.  In fact, I also have a blue area that looks like a bruise.  My surgeon said it is a reaction to the blue dye that is injected after the radioactive stuff.  She said it can take up to two months to dissipate.  Hope this helps.

    Loopey,

I also had a blue area that looked like a bruise (caused by the blue dye that they inject at the sentinel node biopsy stage). Mine lasted a year before finally dissapearing! The bottom half of my breast also went bright red and hot. This was no-where near the incision site from my lumpectomy. Eventually this also went away but some residually redness remains even now. They think it is mild breast lymphodoeama.

    Hope this helps.
