Pea sized lump on scar.

I had a BMX and immediate reconstuction(DIEP) in March 2009. I recently noticed a small lump on a scar on the breast that had the cancer. It seems to have gotten bigger in the last week. I saw my onco a month ago and she said it was most like scar tissue. I am still nervous though and feel I should check it out further. Anybody have lumps on their scars?

I dealt with this same issue about a month or so ago. I didn't have DIEP, but a lumpectomy. My original lumpectomy was in Sept. 2009. Felt a new hard lump underneath the scar. It really worried me because I had scar tissue before that had softened significantly, then this weird lump popped up. I went in to my BS, he sent me for mammo and U/S, and did fine needle biopsy right then in the office. It turned out to be fat necrosis. Apparently, it can mimic a tumor. You should get it checked out if you are nervous about it. Most likely nothing serious, but it doesn't hurt to get some peace of mind.

Just my 2cents. I don't assume anything is scar tissue anymore. I had a lump on my scar line 9 months after successful breast reduction surgery. It hurt and of course breast cancer lumps don't hurt as we have all been told. I put it off for 2 months telling myself since the tissue was all biopsied and was benign it had to be scar tissue.

Wrong, it was a 1.7 IDC grade 3 tumor

Not trying to scare you, just thought I'd let you know my experiences with "scar tissue"
