Merry Christmas!  I was praying when I awoke and am so thankful for the love of the Father shown through the love of His Son!!

Meece, hubby's trip ends on the 4th!  He gets there on the 25th.

Merry Christmas friends.  I woke up this morning just gazing at the manger in the family room.  It's truly beautiful. May your day be joyful and the birth of baby Jesus the reason we celebrate today.  God Bless

Merry Christmas.  What a wonderful day we celebrate today.  What a sacrifice which was given on our behalf.  Enjoy the day!

    What's all this about wanting
Peas on Earth all the time?

What's wrong with corn, or carrots?
Why don't we ever wish for "World Broccoli!"?

Or ask our children for a little "Cucumbers
    and Quiet!"?

Why is it, when we're troubled,
we never pray for "Inner Apricots"?

    How did this incredible obsession
    with vegetables,
    ever begin?

    It might just be, however:
    that if everybody gardened;
    they'd all get along
    better
    with most of their neighbors.

I found this wonderful piece from a Christmas sermon by J. Vernon McGee, published in "Through the Bible" in 1983.

"They all were looking for a King
To slay their foes and lift them high:
Thou came as a little baby thing
       That made a woman cry.

That is the way the Saviour came into the world. He did not lay aside His deity; He did lay aside His glory. There should have been more than just a few shepherds and angels to welcome Him - all creation should have been there... [The Roman Emperor] Caesar should have been in Bethlehem to worship Him. Jesus Christ had the power to force him to do that very thing, but He did not. He laid aside, not His deity, but His prerogatives of deity. He laid down His right to be worshipped as a great king. Instead He came a little baby thing."

    Merry Christmas!

    Deborah

One of the Christian radio stations here plays J. Vernon McGee at 8:30 every weeknight.  If I am out and about I listen.

Hi Barbe!!! Good to see you also!!

I live in So. California and became a Christian in 1978.  J. Vernon retired from the pastorate at the church in Pasadena eight years earlier.  I always wished I had been able to go hear him preach at that great old church.  Here is one of his quotes that just about sums it up for a number of things....

"This is God's universe and He does things His way. You may have a better way but you don't have a universe. " Wink  How can we argue with that?

LOVE that quote Deborah!!! I knew I had picked the right surgeon because of a sign in his office:

God does all the work, but I get all the credit.

Meece...well...pretty wet and thank you for asking!   I am praying for clear weather for at least a few days so that things can dry out a bit.  Looking forward to wearing my Cool How about you?

Oh Barbe...what a blessing to have someone in the medical profession who believes in the greatest Healer of all...

Loks like we will have a couple of dry days then a wet day, then a couple more dry then another wet.

My Chiroprator has scripture on his wall.  It does make you feel more confident that they acknowledge that they are not God.

I can so relate to that, JO.  God imparts knowledge to me every time I read or hear scripture.

    Balm in Giliad

There is a balm in Gilead
    To make the wounded whole
There is a balm in Gilead
    To heal the sin-sick soul

    Sometimes I feel discouraged,
And think my work's in vain,
    But then the Holy Spirit,
    Revives my soul again,

There is a balm in Gilead
    To make the wounded whole
There is a balm in Gilead
    To heal the sin-sick soul

If you can't pray like Peter,
If you can't pray like Paul,
Go home and tell your neighbor,
"He died to save us all"

There is a balm in Gilead
    To make the wounded whole
There is a balm in Gilead
    To heal the sin-sick soul
