We've been upgraded to blizzard warning here.  You too, I think Sheila - although when I put in New York City on weatherchannel.com, it gives me New City - ?.  Ditto on the thank God for snowblowers.  Still a winter storm warning for you, Sandy, so hopefully no power outage threatening high winds for you.  Stay safe and warm, everyone.  Hope everyone's power stays on!  ♥   Glad to hear the rain was manageable out west.  Will send snow to Coonie once it accumulates some more.  ♥

I think it's starting.  Blizzard warning here too.  I live a good hour from the coast, flood warnings there.  Even if we lost power (which I hope we don't) we will still have heat but no hot water and no cooking on the stove cuz that's electric.  I would love to switch to gas.

I have no heat, no water (well), no phone, no stove (when the power goes out).  We have no gas in our town so everything is electric. Well, that;s not true, gas was put in about a year ago but not many people have it.  We keep huge amounts of water in the basement so we can force flush toliets.  FUN!

    Breaking news...LOL

Our area is expecting up to 20 inches and my city is right in that blue blizzard color on the weather report.

    We rarely loose power.

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but inside is so delightful, and since there is no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

I have bunny rabbit tracks going through my yard, probably looking for a place to hide.  He/she will have to go under the shed.

I had a martini (several).  It keeps me warm.  There are power outages all around me.  I know it's only a matter of time!

Oooh - is that a wood stove, Deb?  Nice.  We have a propane stove in our back porch, but it got so expensive that I had the tank taken away and had baseboard heating put in.  It was nice knowing if we lost power we could be warm in that room anyway.

Hope you don't lose power, Linda.  Sounds like such a pain.  How do you store your water in the basement?  Do you have a special tank?  I don't feel prepared.  Our local weather man said, "The strongest winter storm in years will impact the state through tonight into Monday."  "A meteorological "bomb" is rapidly intensifying off the east coast and is now spreading moderate to heavy snow across the state."  I hope he's being overly dramatic.  Sounds ominous.

Hopefully all the roads will be cleared for Tuesday, Sandy.

Do you ever get snow where you are, RCG?

I store water in the basement in the cellar sink, which is a huge utility sink.  That helps us flush the toilets.  I also have a bath tub filled and have several gallon jugs and Coleman coolers filled with drinking water.  Hopefully I will not need them.  It's crazy out there!

You sound pretty prepared.  Good idea - the Coleman coolers.  We don't have a well, so we shouldn't have a problem with water, but in case the water company does, it's good to have a plan for storing water.  When I was taking my nice warm shower today, I was thinking about how we would bathe if we lost power for days...  Then I was thinking I wish we had one of those camping shower contraptions a friend of ours has.  Then we could heat some water using  a camping stove and take quick shower...  I'm lucky my DH is an eagle scout.  I'm clueless when it comes to these things.  (Actually, I'm clueless when it comes to most things...)  Wind is sure blowin' out there.

Ladies, be sure and keep your computers charging in case the power does go out :)  I guess I assume you have laptops.  Two years ago, we had no power for six days, it got to be hell.

Hope all goes well for you all.

Good point, RCG.  And I think I'll plug my phone in for maximum charge too.  Thanks.

6 days with no power.  Sounds miserable.  We are so spoiled.  Sometimes when we've lost power, I have found myself flipping the light switch even though I'm holding a flashlight in my hand.  Brain just does not compute fully.
