My oncs office just called and all my 6 month blood work came back normal (thank goodness) but she said that my white blood cell count has been low for awhile and its getting lower. She was gonna let my pcp know. I didn't have chemo so I know thats not the reason but I have done some research and I cant find alot of info about it. Just checking to see if this has happened to anyone else and what the causes are. I take vitamins and eat a healthy, low fat diet. Can this cause any long term problems.

Are you taking tamoxifen or an AI? This can be a rare, usually not harmful, side effect.

I am on tamoxifen. She said that the count is so low that I might want to take precautions and stay away from sick people. Also said that a flu shot wouldn't be advisable.

I am on Tamoxifen and just had my blood work ( Lipid test ) .. My WBC dropped to 3.5 which is low.  Had my pcp run the test.   Planning on a follow up with Dana Farber very, very soon.   I did have a flu shot back in September.   I don't even feel sick..very, very weird.    Stay tuned..
