Here we go again 1 year later
I have been diagnosed again!!! only 1 year after my PILC. This time it's in the other breast and is low grade ductal. It looks like it was there last year but because I didn't have an MRI last year it wasn't discovered. It does look like we can see it on my mammo from last year but the breast clinic said it only showed on 1 view. This year it shows on the lateral view as well. The MRI says probably benign - well it wasn't. To add to that there are 2 other little spots in the same breast that are also probably benign, but they want to remove them too to be safe. They can't biopsy them as they can't see them on ultrasound and they are too hard to get to. They've marked them with clips using MRI but they didn't get them right on the spots but near enough. I have found out that low grade cancers do not respond so well to chemo so that might explain why all my treatment hasn't affected it.
This time I'll only have to have radiation (I hope) so I can cope with that. Surgery scheduled for 30th Nov - not sure what type yet - hoping for lumpectomy only.

Oh Sue,
I am so sorry this has happened to you. I have read your posts throughout the year as we were diagnosed around the same time.
My thoughts and prayers are coming your way...
-
So sorry Sue you have to deal with this again! Will be praying for you!
-
Sue,
I'm so sorry you have to go through this again.

So sorry to hear that you have to go through this so again. Sending prayers for the best possible stage and grade. Sending hugs and positive thoughts.
-
Oh, Sue, I am so sorry. Hopefully it can be taken care of quickly, and hopefully with a lumpectomy. Thank goodness they found it early, but what a drag to have to go through surgery again, and now radiation, too. You will be in my prayers. (((Hugs))) Deanna

Thankyou lovely ladies. I'm Ok so far - just the occasional weep. I'm very keen to see what my onc says today - my 2nd last herceptin tx is today. One good thing about radiation is my boobs will match
The left one is still quite hard from the rads.Sue
-
Oh, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. Big hugs,
Jenny
-
Thanks Jenny.
The onc agreed the chemo would have had little or no effect on the spot, so we are pretty sure it was there last year. He does recommend having all 3 spots removed, so now I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if the surgeon will agree to lumpectomies. If this was a brand new cancer which was high grade and had appeared after all my treatment, I would go for a mastectomy but seeing it's been there all along, I really want to be more conservative. I'll let you know how the surgeon visit goes tomorrow.

Sue, I'm really sorry to hear that you are once again dealing with the beast and it doesn't matter if it's high or low grade, it's still the beast! Here's hoping that it's just lumpectomy and rads. Thoughts are with you.
Peace, strength, love n hugs. chrissyb

Thanks Chrissie - I was pleased to hear you and Vicky met up. Hope you're doing well.
Sue
-
Lumpectomy possible - hurray!!! Surgery brought forward to the 23rd November - eeek!!! I don't have long to get used to the idea of it but I'm glad to be getting it done sooner.
Sue
-
Yahoo Sue- thank goodness! The sooner the better - no use waiting and worrying. Next Tuesday - I will be thinking of you.
-
So sorry to hear you are going through this. I hope it ends up to be an easy treatment and is over with quickly. I know you were almost finished with the herceptin. This must be a big blow. Try to stay strong.
-
Thanks girls - only 1 herceptin to go on 8th December.
I've got a feeling I'll have a big chunk cut out - lucky I've got big boobs. The hole will be on the underside so who will know - I can stick a chicken fillet in there.

Sue, I am so sorry you are having to deal with again and so soon. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Cathy
-
Thanks Cathy - at least it's low grade - I can handle that.
Sue
-
Sue, thoughts and prayers are with you for Tuesday, hope everything goes well for you. Stay in touch.
Peace, strength, love n hugs. chrissy

Sue,
so sorry to hear you are going through this again. I can't imagine how you are getting through all the tests, etc. again. I think I would just go to pieces.
Good news on the lumpectomy, and low grade-we have to hang onto any positives.
Holding you in my thoughts,
Cathering
-
Thanks Chrissy and Cathering. I'm going to try and not be too over optimistic as I was when they did the biopsy and look how that turned out. The other 2 spots may be cancer but I do know they didn't light up too much on the MRI, so hopefully if they are, then they should be low grade too. I'm just trying to stay neutral at the moment and we'll see how it turns out - then I can freak out or rejoice.

Dear Sue,
I'm sorry to hear of another battle so soon. I hope and pray that things will go well on Tuesday and you will make a full recovery.
Kick that cancer be-otch to the curb

Sue
so glad to hear about the lumpectomy!!!

Me too!!!

Hi Sue, hope you are relaxing this weekend and not stewing on Tuesday. I was so happy to catch up with Vicki and we had wonderful conversation that just flowed between us and a couple of hours just flew by way too fast. I'm going to house sit for my sister for three weeks starting next week so I'm hoping that we can meet for coffee while I'm in the city. I'll probably give her a call sometime over the weekend to try and organise it. Find something nice to do and try and keep your mind off Tuesday as much as possible.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

I went out and bought new pyjamas to wear in hospital. Also bought a dozen bottles of wine and I just folded the washing. The housework (the floors) can just wait until I feel like it.
Say hi to Vicky for me.

I'm so sorry.
Low grade and small areas is good. Lumpectomy is great. And it is nice that you don't have to wait too long. I hate waiting!
It seems you've kept your sense of humor though! A chicken fillet to fill the hole?? Cooked or uncooked? I would think you'd have to buy a lot of chicken throughout the year!
-
Christy - those things you buy to put in your bra to boost your cleveage are commonly called chicken fillets over here
They actually look like chicken fillets. One of the Australian comedy shows had one show where someone thought they were real and cooked them!!!
Sue
-
OMG - stupid me! Guess I could have been the one on the show doing the cooking!
I really need more language lessons from my SIL. She's in Sydney right now visiting her parents and will be back next week.
-
Ozzie slang doesn't always translate. Although they call them chicken fillets in New Zealand too.
-
Thinking of you Sue. (((((((hugs))))))) chrissy

Thanks Chrissie!!! I had the radioactive part of the sentinel node biopsy done this afternoon and it worked straight away!!! The girl was fantastic and got me to massage my boob and my underarm for 10 minutes and it lit up no problem. Last year I spent 6 hours in the Xray place to no avail. This place was SO much better!!
