    Sue, I am with you...wait a week and get the pros taking care of you...A week won't make a difference.  After all bonnie has beeen there for a long time now, what is a week.

    For me a mastectomy was the way to go.  I don't regret it at all. In fact if I could I would go back and have a double done...So I can have recon and look even.

    Sue:  I think you should wait for the pros, too.  I know it's a longer wait, but I think, because the things are so tricky, you need the best.  Hang in there.

    Hi,

    Sue, you seem to be keeping strong in the face of this challenge- It is interesting to see all the different ways of treating the threat of breast cancer, I have had bilateral mastectomies and just had my reconstruction. I know it is such a personal decision but like Mouse and Cafelovr, think there is a strong case for getting rid of them. I feel 100% feminine and curvy, I think the tissue expanders helped with that. My new reconstructed boobs match each other and are squidgy- like they used to be in the old days.... I mean way back in their glory days, about 20 years ago. I know it's a bit extreme but I almost think that every woman should have the option of bilateral and reconstruction- to minimise them having to go through a cancer journey. I haven't got out of my pyjamas yet as only a few days post op but can't wait to show the world my 'new girls'.

    Have any of you read about taking aspirin 75mg enteric coated, there is some research that suggests it stops metastesis. In the UK there is research recommending this for bowel cancer and breast cancer. I am popping one of these little tablets every day. The supplement Q10 is supposed to be good for breast cancer too.

    Sue ~ I think waiting a week and having it done at the hospital sounds like a good idea.  With all you have going on in there maybe a mastectomy is the way to go?  But, I tend to be aggressive in my approach with cancer.  I hate CANCER!  Hang in there and we are here for you.

     Livelife ~ glad to hear you are enjoying your new foobs, rest and hope you feel better with each day.

    I saw my oncologist for my 6 month check up today.  SHE is so sweet.  She was welling up when she saw me.  She said I looked beautiful but she said as I talked it was my inner energy that I exhume that makes me beautiful.  She was proud of my weight loss and said I looked so healthy.  My blood counts platelets and white counts were all good.  I am still waiting for the all clear on my tumor markers.  ugh ~  Monday I have preop testing for my exchange revision on 12/1.  Hoping for an all clear.  I feel great so won't let my mind go anywhere else.

    Well, here is some more happy news...

    I do not have RIBP! I do not have permanent nerve damage! True, my nerves are fried and causing me pain, but with time, they will regenerate! The EMG and nerve conductivity test are not fun! Especially when they started poking me with needles! But it was over before it started!!

    Alicia - you do look beautiful!!!!

     I will wait until it can be done at the big hospital as the breast physician who has been looking after me goes on holiday for 2 weeks today and she would be back by the 30th. I've become very fond of her. The nurse I had yesterday was SO nice - I wanted to bring her home with me. She was stroking and soothing me while I was in the MRI thingy.

    These 2 extra tiny spots might be false positives. We are starting to think they could just leave them there and watch them and just chop out Bonnie but the doctors might disagree.

    They might be in different quadrants but they aren't all that far apart as the 2 tiny ones are towards the centre and all of them are in the lower part of the boob - she might be able to do them in one go. I'll go with what the surgeon says - at least now she has a picture of their location. It's a pain they can't biopsy them. Big onc can also have his input next week.

    The idea of a mastectomy is freaking me out - I hate surgery of any kind. I remember crying all the way to theatre for my knee arthroscopy and that's not big surgery by any means.

     Have a lovely weekend - I'm out to lunch with my bc friend today and she's picking me up so I can have a few wines :)

    Linda, Linda, Linda!!!!!!  That's great news!!!!!  No RIBP!!   WOW!!!  I have been so worried about you after I read about RIBP on the Internet.  None of the information was very encouraging.   I'm so happy for you.

    Sue:  I hope you had a glass of wine for each of us.  Let's see, how many of us are here?  5?  8?  :)

    Linda ~ that is great news !!  :)

    My tumor markers are good ~ my onc does 2 of them.  both went down, one to zero ~ and 1 went down 1 percent in the good range !  I am so freaking happy !!!!  I don't see her for another 6 months. 

    I am so glad my hospital has an online site that puts all your labs up, they popped up this morning.  I thought I would have to go through the weekend without knowing.  So glad I didn't.

    I stayed home today to make sure DH had his CT scan - all done!!! The ultimate togetherness - we both see big onc on Wednesday - cross your fingers for him!!!

    I'll make sure I watch it tomorrow.

    Went to work today - didn't do much. Everything is organised for my income protection claim to continue with the setback, so I'll continue to be paid while I'm off work. 2 weeks to go before surgery - I'm very nervous about seeing the surgeon on Thursday as you all know I don't want a mastectomy. Seeing big onc tomorrow for my 2nd last naked H tx - can't wait to see what he says about this new discovery.

    I'm going to pick up DH's CT scan tomorrow morning. He can leave it with me at the treatment centre so he won't be tempted to read the report. They tried to get him to reschedule his appt tomorrow, so I rang the woman back and said NO WAY - we must see big onc after my tx. That worked :)

    Well, time for bed.

    Sue,

    I know you must be nervous and anxious! We're with you!! Hubby is there too. Can you feel the love that surrounds you? Everytime I go in for scans, I know you all are there!

    I go back to the neurologist on Nov 23 to see what's next for the neuropathy! Hopefully good news since it's not RIBP. Time heals all wounds, I guess.

    I am so excited for Thanksgiving. I have a large extended family. There will be 8 of us that day. Last year, I had just started chemo, so we had our dinner catered. My family is known for its cooking, but no one would let me cook :) Anyway, I get to cook this year! I get to taste my food without a funky aftertaste. I get to have my picture taken without a wig!

    What a difference a year makes!

    Hi Girls!! We're all set, I picked up DH's films this morning and left them in the car. I'm going to keep them with me while I have my tx. He's going to drop me off and come back at 4 in time for his consult at 4:30. He's started getting really nervous but there's not much I can do to calm him - we go through this every year.

    Great news - DH all clear!!!!! But the idiot won't smile about it - good grief. Now he says he's just worried about me. On the way there he said we should have waited until next year to get his scan done - I'm so glad I forced him to do it now - one less thing to worry about.

    Big onc confirmed that the chemo would probably have not had any effect on Bonnie. He does think I should get all spots removed. Also mentioned the possibility of a mastectomy but did say 2 lumpectomies would be fine if the surgeon agrees to do it that way. Lillte onc (the registrar) spoilt it and told big onc before I could - the rat.

    WOW, Sue!  Great news for your DH!!!  Def. is one less thing to worry about!  So you see the surgeon sometime after the 30th?  Do you have an appt. scheduled yet?

     Linda:  I continue to have "flashbacks" to last year and what was happening at any given time then, like Thanksgiving day...fixing dinner with my family's help, being exhausted during and afterwards, doing so in scarf sos not to melt my wig with the oven heat.  Yeah, what a difference a year makes, for sure.

    Need to schedule my 6 mo. mammo, but not wanting to at all..will be very painful and will need to take pain med. to get through it.  Then need to have a follow-up with the breast surgeon.  :P  Guess I can't complain since it has been a while since I've had to see a dr.
