I'm all ready to go!!! Just waiting for DH to eat his breakfast and have his shower - the man NEVER hurries. The surgery should be in about 3 1/2 hours from now.

    I feel the hugs!!!

Sue: You are probably already getting knocked out for surgery, we are all with you, a pat on the leg, a stroke in the hair. We are praying for the surgeon to be skillful, the nurses to be kind when you wake up and an easy recovery. All of us together can get these vibes straight through the core of the earth to get to you.

Well - hang on to your seats - I'm at home!!! The stupid idiots couldn't place the wires, some crap about my boob and my port being in the way and not being able to see the clips on mammo well enough.

Anyway, I did have surgery - just the sentinel node biopsy. The surgeon said that seeing we had done half of the procedure we should go ahead and finish it. The node lit up beautifully with the blue dye and has been removed and sent off for testing. I woke up starving and they said I could go home if I felt well enough. I actually felt great so here I am. I could have stayed the night but the food sucked. Now my pee is blue :) There is absolutely no pain and it's nearly 7 hours since she did it.

I've decided I like her even more after today - wish I'd gone to her last year.

The plan now is to do the lumpectomy at the bigger hospital next Tuesday. So the experts at the breast clinic can do the wires. The surgeon was SO apologetic - she was so sure the people were competent - well obviously not. The good news is that the doctor who has been looking after me at the breast clinic will be back from holidays next week - I'm sure she'll be able to do it. And the food there is better.

So, girls - we'll have to do another world wide hug next Tuesday. When I get the time of surgery, I'll let you know. Sounds like she's going to fit me in even though her list was full.

    Today's hug wasn't wasted - I felt the love. I'm just a problem patient.

Sue ~ so sorry you weren't able to have the lumpectomy, but glad at least it was not all in vain.  When will you have the results on the sentinel node?  I am glad you are not in any pain.  REST up today !

    Hugs,

    Alicia

Sue, I just let us know when to start that hug-athon.  We will be ready with super-duper-open arms.  I am glad you are seeing the posative in things.  At least you didn't have to eat that yucky food, and could have your reservation for the better hospital food for next week.  You, a problenm patient...peeshaw.  How is the hubby? Are you awake for the biopsy or do they knock you out....

OK...round two coming up next week! I'm so glad there's no pain or anything.

And here I made white sangria for the special occasion! I'll just make another batch for next Monday. (I think it's Monday here when it's Tuesday there!)--Cheers!

I'm still up!!! They did knock me out but only for half an hour I think. I woke up starving. Results should be in in a few days - a pathologist did look at the node and it looked fine but they have to do more tests.

Hey Linda - keep that sangria coming. I haven't had any for years - used to love it!!!

I'm convinced this surgeon is a witch - still no pain - totally amazing. Hopefully the lumpectomy will be as good.

I got some really great news yesterday - she is not going to charge me a gap. That means I save $1,000. Over here the government sets a scheduled fee and they refund 85% of that. The private health fund refunds the other 15% but the doctors charge way more usually and we have to pay the difference. The reason for that is the fees are set too low by the government. Anyway she's only going to charge the scheduled fee. The hospital accomodation, theatre fees etc are covered by private health insurance. Her little secretary also said she's going to tell the anaesthetist that they're doing it for no gap in the hope he will too.

That's the best news for me as I was really worried about the cost as we went through all of my savings last year.

    Happy Thanksgiving girls!!!!
