Well when I was there last month they didn't start until about 9:30 or so...I gave one of the players a note saying we would be there.  :-)

Like you all, I'm getting very excited about going to Las Vegas and meeting my BCO friends.   While I love the idea about getting together at the piano bar, I'm not as comfortable about being involved in any news coverage about our TaTa reunion.  Perhaps those of us who don't want to be filmed for a TV report can sit along the sidelines and watch the rest strut their stuff.

Just one more week until our fun begins!

Hey Jancie, Jazzy and all, I think spreading awareness of BC and screening is massively important, and having some news coverage of our LV jaunt could indeed serve that purpose.  However, some of us are very private with our medical histories and so showing ourselves as breast cancer survivors/patients on national tv or YouTube would not be our chosen approach. I so look forward to this trip to celebrate our lives and BC survival with all you amazing women, but I'd prefer it be private (but shared with 50+ of you, LOL!)   I fear I might sound like a partypooper, but from email exchanges with several others today I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.  I guess the bottom line is that everyone who wants to should participate, and everyone who doesn't want to should feel absolutely comfortable to bow out and not feel the least bit bad about it.  I hope that works for everyone!

One week to Vegas - WOOOOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!  : )

I have to agree with CS and Kristinka -- I have told very few people in my RL.  I am not up for dancing live on You Tube OR national TV!  I applaud all of you who ARE though and will happily sit outside the view of the cameras and cheer you all ON!

PLEASE ACCEPT MY SINCERE APOLOGIES!  I am SO SORRY if we have been disrespectful of everybody's feelings!!!  Seriously...I really think the pink glove last minute video at the piano bar can totally be without y'all who don't want to be a part of it!!!  I will post our video from last yr.

The press will most likey choose a couple different people to interview, if that.  We will definitely make sure those who want to be hidden are!!

    MAJOR HUGS!!! Jazzy

I tend to jump the gun without thinking first and to anyone I offended, I do apologize.  This will definately be a voluntary thing only - if you don't want to be filmed I am sure everyone understands.  I didn't even really think of my own personal situation where I have only told 2 members of my family of my BC and have kept it hidden from everyone else.  I wouldn't expect any of this to be aired outside of the Las Vegas area - I sent the email to the local news station.

I also am very private-thank you ladies who have already spoken up about this-it makes me feel better. I totally understand the excitement for those who want to be more public about their stories. I want to share that as I was reading about the news and uploading our events to public sites I thought about backing out of the trip. Hopefully we can find some way to let those who want to make their stories public able to do so and those who want privacy to have that respected.

Regarding pictures and videos, it is exciting to share our memories with eachother so last year I setup a very private site for us to share those pictures and videos with one another without exposing things publically.

Here is to a great time for everyone in Vegas!

Packergirl - I was just going to go back and delete my post but then it dawned on me that this information has been posted on this board for weeks/months now so my particular post didn't really give out anymore information that what is on the top of this forum to begin with.  I was talking to my dh and was trying to get him off the phone so I could delete it fast since my post has been up for about 6 hours.  I understand the need for privacy for people - again those that might wish to participate can do so or if you rather I could email the newsdesk and tell them to not come out at all - at this particular time I don't know if they are even interested in running the story.  My only motive was to make other women more aware of BC - get their mammograms regardless of what these people are saying to wait until they are 50 years old.

In fact the Salt Lake Tribune ran a story today how it wasn't necessary to get mammograms until you are 50 because of calculations that prove they are only saving 2.7% of lives on early detection.  It is stories like this that make me so angry and like so many of us - we got it before the age of 50.

    Hi Ladies,

I am off to walk in the Susan G. Komen 3 day walk in Seattle tomorrow.  Vegas is my reward for 3 days of torturous walking!  I will be thinking of each of you as we walk.  My team has raised over 200,000.00 so far.  That's about 4000.00 for each of y'all!

Can't wait to see/meet everyone in sunny Las Vegas. As far as making our lives public vs private.....I think we all handle cancer in our own way and I don't think anyone here would disrespect how someone else chooses to handle it.  We all do what works for us in our lives and support each other in how we decide to do it.  I respect and support anyones decision to shout it from the rooftops or keep it under their hat (well, under their shirt to be specific I guess...)

More power to all of us.

    Tracy

Jancie - Honey don't worry..... I think you keep going with your contacts with the news for those ladies who do want to shout it from the rooftops. Maybe they can just give you some idea when they would come so those who don't want to be public will know when to bow out. Kiss

thanks packer - I have been having an total anxiety attack after reading the posts.  I know my heart was in the right place, I just wasn't going about it the right way.

I don't even know what the protocols are regarding filming in casinos...it may not be allowed to begin with as other patrons may not want to be in the spotlight or the casinos might have set rules disallowing news cameras inside the casinos.  I guess if they really wanted to do a story and some gals here wanted to speak up acknowledging BCO which was my main reason to put this out there  - is that maybe Freemont Street would be the ideal spot because you can just walk into Golden Nugget or Mermaids or whatever, or just not show up in the main area at the designated time without having to state why or feel like you have to give a reason.  We all lose track of time gambling - I know I have MANY TIMES!  My head starts nodding and only then do I realize it is around 3 am!

    I am here Janet..:)

My personal life is less than desirable ( not family.... they are GREAT). and I might not be here on BCO like I WANT to be in this next week until I get to be with my girls..

I have to tell you all, I too talked to " someone" at channel 11 in Vegas. Embarassed.. I think I told Jaz I was doing this about three months back.. but not for sure...????? Anyway..... I decided to let it go because there are so many people as PRIVATE as I. I will tell you... being on TV is not a big deal for me.. talking about all this... BUT...... then I thought....... it is a HUGE deal to me to EVER talk about my Implants to people.. SO... If I am this private about this part of the journey.. then others WILL be private about other parts of our journey.

The "lady" which will remain unknown... was very interested in doing "us". But I backed out. ( sorry to those who might have wanted this )...

I NEVER told them our names.. NO NO NO... I did mention BCO ( they should get the plug). I did mention this AMAZING group..... but never told names nor stories.

A VERY VERY VERY dear lady ON BCO , WHOM I LOVE and she knows I am talking about her.............. changed my mind. She NEVER knew I was doing this..... but because I respect her and love her... I thought privately about HER .... and STOPPED the press....:)

I myself, WILL be a part of any news people coming. ........... BUT I think that if anyone comes... they need to respect our SISTERS who need to LEAVE the area... until ALL PRESS IS GONE.

I will support the press coming... 'cause  we are SO amazing... and so is BCO... and our... special, special... TATA SISTERHOOD... girls... this is US!... BUT and this is a BIG BUT.... WE HAVE TO AGREE to:

GETTING THOSE SISTERS OF OURS WHO DO NOT WANT TO BE SEEN ON TV.... OUT OF THE AREA while this 30 min. stint happens.... if Jancies people come..:)

As far as the Pink glove thing....... VERY COOL........ TV people or not... I LOVE IT... Thanks!

Hey Jancie.... I put MONEY on the fact..... you ONLY used your sweet heart when thinking about this... NO way do I or anyone think you did bad.....NO NO NO...,, this is why we ALL work GREAT together........ we all help eachother..... see other sides of things..... or... think of better things.....

To me... THIS RESPECT and TRUST.. is what makes up the TATA Sisterhood!

Thanks Laura - your words are keeping me out of a very dark area right now.

Before the 1st Vegas reunion and the piano bar - I was too embarrassed to tell anyone I had BC - seriously - I felt ashamed.  I don't know why.  Maybe the fact that when you do tell someone their eyes immediately go to your chest and they wonder "are they real, is one of them real, wonder if she had her boobs removed?"   But the wonderful loving reception that we got from strangers at the piano bar that didn't have a clue who we were changed my view.  I no longer felt embarrassed, I can't even explain it - it was like that one event was the turning point in my journey with BC.

Only two people in my family know about my BC, my cousin that got BC 10 years ago and my aunt that got BC 15 years ago.  My own biological father doesn't even know.  I definately knew I could never tell my grandmothers because they are both in their 90's and would worry too much.

I would be one that would try to be at the very back with my head turned sideways so I couldn't be recognized - I want to show my support for BCO without a doubt but there is that nagging thought still in my head that I would not want to talk to the camera crew and I definately wouldn't want to be recognized by my family - though I seriously doubt that anyone would see the news clip.  So in a way I am also very private about my experience.

    JANCIE,

ALTHOUGH I WILL SHOUT FROM THE ROOF TOPS IF MY STORY WILL HELP SOMEONE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CAN GET THROUGH BREAST CANCER AND COME OUT OF IT CELEBRATING LIFE AND SISTERHOOD,I DO REALIZE THAT SOME WOMEN ARE MORE PRIVATE. AND THAT IS A OK, WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT. BUT FOR THAT REASON FREEMONT PROBABLY WOULD BE BEST. JANCIE I ADMIRE WHAT YOU ARE DOING. AND PACKER YOUR WANT FOR YOUR PRIVACY SHOULD AND WILL BE RESPECTED I AM SURE THERE ARE OTHER LADIES WHO FEEL THE SAME AS YOU GIRLY!Kiss

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 1 WEEK!!! CANT WAIT TO SEE EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aw ladies!  It's all good :)  I am so happy and SO looking forward to seeing ALL of you and meeting you all in person.  If press comes that's cool and if not that's cool too.  Those of us who aren't interested will stand back and those who are will step right UP!  I think it's an individual thing and BOTH points of view are totally valid.

    HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if the "Great Bra Swap" is still on or not, but regardless, I have between a half dozen and a dozen 38B bras that I will never wear again (thanks to my sweet PS making me a C, wahoo!)and I hate to just throw them out; some of them still have tags on them, and the others are almost new.  If anyone would like me to bring them to Vegas, just PM me and let me know.  Bras aren't cheap, and I'd love for a sister to able to use them. Free for the asking!!

Hey Jancie:  I saw your post about notifying Fox news regarding the trip.  You told them that the women would range in age from 30 to 60.  I sure hope they do not want to interview the OLDEST TaTa girl!  I will just shoot myself right now!  LOL!!!
