"It is not easy to tell the bad luck from the good luck, and sometimes things that look about as bad as they can be when they first happen, turn out to be good luck after you've lived with them awhile." from Some Men Are More Perfect Than Others by Merle Shain

Thanks, Ruthie, taking it all in. . . .xo

Here is something rather lovely.
For Sylvia by Marcia Kasabian
I found you warmed and white and peaceful in the sunlight
your world increasingly private, unreachable;
And you smoothed by brow the way you used to
And you remembered the children, their father, and
asked if I'm well, how it goes with me now.
I shared my joy and pain, my confusion and fears
weary of struggles and changes.
Your small chuckle came from deep within
and you reminded me, "It's not over."
Ancient old woman laughing
shooing me away to new beginnings....
still.
-
on an e-mail I got today:
"Do not ask the Lord to guide your footsteps,
if you are not willing to move your feet."
-

lovemyfamily- Ahhh the romantic breakups. Can't even count how many I had before I met my perfect match. Thank God I waited. That was 1991. We've been happily ever after since. So here are my thoughts:
It only takes meeting the right person ONCE.

(I am not a fan of Communist China, but here is a good quote by Mao Tse Tung.)

Think Like a Tree
by Karen I. Shragg
Soak up the sun
Affirm life's magic
Be graceful in the wind
Stand tall after a storm
Feel refreshed after it rains
Grow strong without notice
Be prepared for each season
Provide shelter to strangers
Hang tough through a cold spell
Emerge renewed at the first signs of spring
Stay deeply rooted while reaching for the sky
Be still long enough to
hear your own leaves rustling. -
We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.
And all shall be well and all manner of things shall be well
TS Eliot

So happy to find this thread!
I have been collecting quotes that have meaning to me for quite sometime!
Probably one of my favorites (and, forgive me, I don't remember the origin but I think it may have been from a signature of one of the ladies here on BC.org).
Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE, the word itself says "I'm Possible" - Audrey Hepburn
-
Very neat. And a nicer play on words than one of my favorites, "Never Assume, it makes an ASS out of U and ME."
-
Lol, ruthbru! I've used that one myself!
Another one I like..
Though no-one can go back
and make a brand new start,
anyone can start from now
and make a brand new end. - Author unknownAnd one more...
People are like stained-glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in,
their true beauty is revealed
only if there is a light from within. ~ Elizabeth Kubler-Ross ~May you all be surrounded by people who 'sparkle in the darkness'!

Life can only be understood backwards,

Just found this topic. I love quotes. I write them down for my kids. I love the ones I've read here. Here's one, but I'll be back with more.

Hello!
My 95 year old aunt died recently. She was a tremendous woman who remained a vital force throughout her entire life. Here is one of the things the minister said at the funeral.
" She had a spirit of adventure and questioning. Just because things hadn't happened in the past, didn't mean they couldn't happen in the future."
