I feel very silly writing this but just want to warn you all that I'm probably going to cry like a baby when we all meet. Already, just reading some private messages, email and facebook posts I've received regarding this get together, I'm already there, happy tears though.  Hope I don't embarrass yawl.  I better bring a box of tissues!

Anna62, thanks for coming, you were so generous reaching out to me last year when I was at an all time low after having had a reconstruction failure.  You're an inspiration after all you've been through.  I look forward to a big hug!

Also, she's not in the Boston area, I wish she were, but thanks to AnneW from Colorado, who I've connected with on other threads, a big shout-out to you for your encouragement and wise words to myself and so many others on these boards, you're one in a million, good luck in SLC with Dr. Massey, wish I could be there.

Just wanted to say "Hi" from a newbie local. Can't make this meetup, but am happy to see there is local activity on this board. Haven't seen any of you mention the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden in Harvard and have wondered whether any of you draw support from that community?

    She's a born organizer.

Glostagirl, do you think that after we eat we can go to a place to see some wild surf??  We can park our cars and walk to were ever you think it would be awesome to see Igor churning up the waves?

I think that can be arranged.  I'll take note of where the waves might be the biggest.  Good Harbor beach is usually a pretty good bet, it's about 5 minutes from the restaurant.

Wear or bring comfy shoes, a little walk might be in order.

    Hi all!

I've been to the Healing Garden.  I saw a therapist from there when I was diagnosed.  I also did a Reflexology session there too.  Very very nice place and people.

Deborye, oddly word of the Healing Garden has not really made its way to Chelmsford. My ps who is out of there had never heard of it either. My first knowledge has come from many neighbors who have been doing fund raisers for them. When we had a town yard sale back in Spring, I donated a percentage of my proceeds to them in honor of what they did, never dreaming that I might be needing their services myself! I know my onc is a big supporter and the Emerson staff seems to be much more aware of them. Perhaps when the new Cancer Center at LGH gets finished, maybe they too will hook up somehow.

Lorrie, I had an intake and complimentary massage the day before my MX surgery, so I haven't had much experience with them yet myself. Just curious if there was a reason I haven't seen mention of them here or if it was just not really known about in this particular support circle. I'm from a neighboring town, with friends who participate in the annual walk, so it seems to have just become common knowledge to me in the last year or so.

Creative--what town are you in?  I'm in Groton.  Are you being treated at Emerson?

Glostgirl, I imagine you won't be the only one teary eyed, myself included.  A walk on GH beach sounds great. I was also thinking a walk on the boulevard or the beach would be nice after lunch but deborye you beat me to the idea. Then we can eat more..

I was thinking of the boulevard or Stage Fort Park as well.  I'll check on the tides, where the waves are up.  The other possibility, just for it's beauty, is Coffin Beach, which is the private side of Wingaersheek.  I have a friend over there who would let us park in her driveway (she's a survivor also).  I'm thinking we can discuss the options together and decide after lunch. There are just so many choices of beautiful places to go on Cape Ann!

There are two local gals joining us, who are not active on this web site.  Patricia has just finished treatment, she did chemo thru the Winter/Spring and radiation all summer.  The other, Marilyn, is newly diagnosed, has had an excisional biopsy and SNB, more surgery was recommended, although she just had a second opinion from my oncologist at MGH who preferred waiting on more surgery and to have chemo first.

Anna62, is driving down from north of Portland, Maine to join us.  We became friendly on another thread in March of 2009 and have stayed in touch thru our surgeries and my chemo.  Anna had reconstruction last year at NOLA. We've chatted on the phone but this is the first time we've met.

Hi, All, I have a tide table for York, Maine and seems high tide on Sat is 10-11 AM up here. From what I can see on the local news, the waves are going to be HUGE and in my vast experience of watching the ocean, the tides could be higher than normal at high tide.

Shall I bring my surfboard? (just joking)

    See you Sat, Sue

It's been years since I have seen the waves from a storm out at sea.  This should be awesome.

I will probably get misty eyed also. ♥Ô¿Ô♥

Hi everyone...I just PM'd Deb.  My son came home from college last night on a surprise visit.  I've been struggling with whether to stay home with him today or go to lunch and unfortunately (or fortunately depending perspective) I'm going to stay home and spend some time with him.

    Have fun today!

I hope you all had a great time!  I had a wonderful time at my friends' wedding.  It's so nice when you are friends with both the Bride and the Groom, except for trying to figure out which side of the church to sit on!  I really want to come to the next get togehter, so I'll keep and eye on this thread.
