Why is it called Labour Day if we don't have to go to work?
-
Barbe - I thought it had something to do with unions so I went on the 'net. Part of the Wikipedia definition includes "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations,followed by a festival for the workers and their families. This became the pattern for Labor Day celebrations."
They still had to work but they got a party. Now they probably get triple time and a half!

Eph 3 12 love your avatar

She looks happy, doesn't she?
-
Joni! Nice to finally see you!! I've been admiring the side of your head for ages.....you look wonderful!
-
Joni..I just love it, you do look happy like Meece said.
♥
-
aw shucks- Thanks! I was happy; it was so great meeting gillyone & we had the waitress take our picture & we were saying silly stupid, things! Fun, Fun, Fun!
And for the most part, I am happy. Getting too big of a tire around the middle from Femara for my liking, my finances are still in disarray & likely to stay that way forever at the rate I'm going, but I have my health(?), good friends, wonderful family & a great BIG God.

Can't believe my 3 day weekend is over.

-
The good thing is the work week is 4 days then I am on vacation. Me DD and I will be climbing Mount Washington, the Amonoosuc Ravine Trail then taking the Cog down.
-
I'll take some pics of the Alpine Garden if its in bloom and post them on FB cause I don't know how to post pics here.
-
Joni. You've just posted your 1000th post.
Time for a party!!

Okay, update of sorts. Grace is now stateside, but hasn't posted here since leaving Okinawa. DS hasn't heard from them yet either. Lets remember her and her treatment now that she is in the US.
DS aka Matt, was able to travel back to Oahu this week for a second opinion on his leg. He called today and said the dr. has agreed to try surgery, and feels he can acheive good results. What a Blessing. The surgery is in a month or two, nothing set yet. Matt will need to find someone willing to take about three weeks to travel with him to care for him as he recovers. Please pray that someone stable and competent will come forth. On Tuesday night he woke from a sound sleep unable to breathe. He went to the ER where they concluded his leg had thrown a clot. Until this issue gets taken care of, this could happen again. Very scary. Please pray for healing of this specific problem.
I know God understands me when I pray for all of you ladies. Thanks be to Him for his grace and mercy.
-
Meece...Does matt have to go back and return to Oahu for the surgery?
If I was there I would gone and visit him. Can they have visitors. Sorry if Im asking too many questions.
He will be in my thoughts and prayers.
♥ ♥

Yes, he does have to go back to Okinawa first. I am worried about the long flights and told him to get up and walk frequently. He is 6'5" which makes folding into a normal row difficult.
I don't know of what he will or will not be allowed. He called me aty work, and I am not allowed personal calls so I had to cut it short.

Hello All! Been thinking about this hymn as we travelled back to the States:
Blest be the tie that binds
our hearts in Christian love;
the fellowship of kindred minds
is like to that above.
2. Before our Father's throne
we pour our ardent prayers;
our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
our comforts and our cares.
3. We share each other's woes,
our mutual burdens bear;
and often for each other flows
the sympathizing tear.
4. When we asunder part,
it gives us inward pain;
but we shall still be joined in heart,
and hope to meet again.We landed on Friday and have been running every since. I saw the doctor at Cleveland Clinic yesterday. I have a CT scan and mammogram next Wednesday. The week after that I have an echo, see the doctor, and have my next herceptin treatment. She is worried about the numbers that the Japanese doctor put down for my heart function, so she is redoing the test here. Also, they are redoing my path slides at the CC to see what they think. Will find all the results out in two weeks.
Praying for you all.
Meece, we are praying for Matt and are so happy to hear that he will be getting surgery! Praying for someone to accompany him and also for that horrible flight in those small seats!
Thank you for all of your prayers!
1. He leadeth me: O blessed thought!
O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
Whate'er I do, where'er I be,
still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.
Refrain:
He leadeth me, he leadeth me,
by his own hand he leadeth me;
his faithful follower I would be,
for by his hand he leadeth me.
2. Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,
sometimes where Eden's bowers bloom,
by waters still, o'er troubled sea,
still 'tis his hand that leadeth me.
(Refrain)
3. Lord, I would place my hand in thine,
nor ever murmur nor repine;
content, whatever lot I see,
since 'tis my God that leadeth me.
(Refrain)
4. And when my task on earth is done,
when by thy grace the victory's won,
e'en death's cold wave I will not flee,
since God through Jordan leadeth me.
(Refrain) -
Thank You, Grace. Those hymns are beautiful. So glad to hear from you. We will keep you in prayer for your upcoming Tests.
So very glad to hear from you you!!
((((HUGS)))))

Meece, I am sorry, but if your son is fighting for his country and he calls you at work, you SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO TAKE THE CALL!!!! How insensitive can a boss be????? That drives me out of my mind!!!

I never did catch on to what is wrong with his leg....it just kind of appeared in the thread, so I'm missing a link. Or am I the missing link?

-
I might have mentioned it in early pages.
As I recall, he injured his ankle/footwhen he was fresh out of basic training. He was stationed at Biloxi, MS and was cleaning up after Hurricane Katrina. He and his co-workers were moving stuff from a damaged building and the person holding the other end of a weightbench on his foot. Then he was playing basket ball with some other Airmen a year later and a Sgt. landed on his ankle as he was stretching his leg out . That's what the background is as I know it.
In 2009, he had surgery to repair the ankle. They took a tendon from behind his kneecap and attached it to his ankle ad removed a floating chip of bone, which they couldn't figure out where it came from. The surgery didn't help, and a 8 months later the wound was still unhealed, and another piece of bone came out. Why? We don't know. The tendon has also snapped or something and it causes him intense pain.
No, my employer is really ...well, it is a difficult and stressful to work there. I take a call and "we get talked to". The woman two cubes down talks to her daughter 30-45 minutes each day, and they don't say a thing because she has been there 15 years, and she knew the CFM before they both came to work there. The rules are only for those who respect rules.
He wants to stay in the military, but they have postponed his healthcare so long, it may come down to a medical discharge. He has served 5 years (reinlisting once) and still has two years in this enlistment. He hates having to work at a desk because of this, and wants to get back out to the aircraft!
-
I will prey for wisdon concerning your healt Jo.
Matt is considering his options once out of the military. he has mentioned Bible College, has yet to know what direction there. He is considering the college Grace's daughter went to here in CA.

Meece, I work for the VA. Tell you son to be sure to keep copies of his medical records when he gets out/retires. What you are describing will be considered a "service connected disability." He can still work and do whatever he wants, but he will receive a financial compensation check monthly as compensation for his injury/disability during his service.
We weeded out our butterfuly garden this morning. It is so incredibly beautiful.
-
Grace...welcome back to the States.
Glad to hear from you.
Are you getting Herceptin?
Hugs from NY♥♥
-
JO, praying for wisdom about the Cipro. Your logic is solid for stopping if that's worth anything....
-
JO,,,Sorry I missed your post before, I wasnt ignoring you or anything.
Is Cipro the one that you only take one a day for 5 days?
I hope you feel better soon.
♥
-
Welcome to the mainland Grace. Hope that all goes well over the next couple weeks. Jo, feel better soon. mbtlcsw01: I work for a social security disability attorney & am very familar with SC disabilities. What kind of work do you do there?
Hope you are having a nice weekend. I'm taking it easy today; reflecting some on the tragedies 9 years ago, but mostly trying to relax..Later.
-
Eph3-12, I am a licensed clinical social worker. I supervise 15 out-patient social workers at our VA. We have a dept of 140 social workers at our hospital as we take injured active duty. Service connected compensation is a benefit given by the Veterans Benefit Administration for those veterans who have been injured or hurt during their time of service. I'm quite familiar with SSD and SSI, too as we make referrals for that often as well.
I'm suffereing with chronic UTI's. Started in July and I'm on my third round of antibiotics. I'd appreciate prayer and wisdom to know where this is coming from and a way to cure it for good.
-
Mary, I went through that for a year before they found out I had a HUGE kidney stone! I called him Mick and he got surgicaly removed last July. Get it checked out just in case...
-
Barbe, did you feel pain with that stone? This last episode came on within an hour.
