Super Low Iron Level

My oncologist called me and told me that my bloodwork showed "super low iron levels". He actually put me on 3x's the amount of iron a normal person takes. He's not sure what is causing it but said he would like to do an upper and lower endoscopy. He said it's NOT related to my breast cancer but not sure why it's so low. I'm wondering if some of the natural vitamins and supplements I'm taking is contributing to my low iron level. Has anyone had this same issue? Thanks.

    Could it be hypothroidism? Have they checked your throid? I am assuming he is checking your GI system to make sure nothing is going on in there. I know when your stomach is highly acidic it's hard for iron to be asorbed.   Could it be from the running?
