Suzette and Sheila - I have been going as a parent helper although the teacher in charge is my dear friend so I go to support her as well.  This is my last year unless she invites me to help.  She will take parents first if they offer but I may get to go if offers are scarce.

Our fine cold weather has gone (60 predicted today) and now we have a storm again. Has been bucketing down since about 10pm last night and this one has wind with it.  On Thursday night down in the South Island skifields 1600 people were trapped up on the mountain because gale force winds came up quickly and it was too dangerous for cars and buses to travel down the mountain. They had to sleep on the floor of the restaurants, lounges etc packed in like sardines.  They all looked very glad to be leaving when the road opend late the following morning!

I helped another friend with her goat shearing on Monday - I didn't smell very nice after a day doing that I can tell you! but it was lovely to spend the day with eachother.  Ok, that was a bit random.

Eph3_12, Thanks for the song. It was one of those rare moments when I can forget the past and the lousy weather and just tune into bliss. Needless to say the fog is back but I got to enjoy the sunshine while it lasted. I even took a short 2 mile walk...

You picked strawberries! Our season here is early may through part of June. Now we are getting strawberries from your area.

We have had sunshine and hot temps all week but this weekend they are calling for cooler temps and thunderstorms. Today our church is doing a 1 day Vacation Bible School starting at noon with a pizza party and ending at 4:00 with a pool party at one of our members house, hopefully it won't get rained out. Also my mom is giving me 2 tickets to the AAA baseball team that plays in Hickory (Hickory Crawdads) for tonights game at 7:00. Just when we think the heat has broken we get chances of thunder storms.

So I drove home from Salem yesterday (hottest day of the year so far for the state!) My car was red-lining on the mountains & I ran the car heater for the last 100 miles of my journey.  A 4 hour trip took me 8 because I had to keep stopping in rest areas to let the car cool down.  Fortunately I had a great book with me & there was a slight breeze!  Only things that saved me!

Update on the pool party, there were no thunderstorms in the area just showers and the kids who came didn't mind swimming in the rain, they were wet anyway. The parents just sat on the porch or in the house trying to remember that being kids, you loved swimming even in the rain. Had to miss the crawdad game, they were having a special event, christian concert after the game, that caused the ticket price to be a little bit higher. We couldn't trade the unused earlier tickets in for that game without paying $6.00 to cover the cost of the concert. It wasn't raining hard enough to cancel the game, but we didn't want to sit in the rain and skipped the game. We will try again next weekend.

Had to miss the morning walk this morning, too much fog in the area to safely walk on the street.

Sheila, We've had fog almost every day for the past week.  Usually the foggy mornings don't begin until end of Sept but with as hot as it's been, even if it only goes down to 70 at night the earth is still so much warmer than the air!

Rae, I love hearing about New Zealand.  Shearing sheep?  What an experience.

Smith - so happy you had sunshine and that wonderful experience with some of Mother Nature's creatures.

We are quite chilly today.  The thermometer says 70 but there is a brisk wind and I SWEAR it feels like it's in the upper 50s or low 60s.  Brrrrr.  The Coyotes woke me up at 4 am today.  They were yipping and barking and screeching.  Unfortunately, I think it was some poor creature that was screeching cause they were in the clutches of the Coyotes.  I had to turn on the TV and watch TV land to try not to think about a painful death for the creature!  I finally got back to sleep around 5 just to have my alarm go off at 6!  The joys of middle age.

Suzette, around here, they say that the number of foggy days in August and the thickness of the fog determines how many snows and how deep it will be in the coming winter. But I don't believe it. We don't usually get any fog unless we have had some rain in the evenings and we did have some hit and miss showers again on Sunday night, no thunder involved. I left my house to go to church and it was raining at my house but less than 2 miles from the house no rain and when I got to church, another 2 miles, it was just starting to rain. It has already been dry at the office but when I get home (1/2 mile away) it is raining.

That's how it's been at my house Sheila.  Pouring rain everywhere around us but then nothing when I get home.  So strange.

We have the fog year round but no snow. Today it's foggy but I'm headed to the ocean to walk with two friends. The Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure walk in San Francisco is less that 7 weeks away and I need all the training I can get! Last year was gorgeous in SF so we're hoping for great weather in October.

We haven't even had summer yet and it's almost fall...what's wrong with this picture???

smithlme - here's hoping big time that you do get some summer.  Spring is coming for us - the days are getting longer thank goodness - I feel so much better about life when I don't have to eat breakfast and dinner in the dark!

Rain, rain and more rain here.  Storm Fri, Sat and Sunday, fine yesterday, rain today and rain or showers predicted until at least Friday - ugh, it's going to be a loooonnng week.  This is not normal - we usually have a day of rain and then three or four fine and so on.  Temps down to 40 overnight and up to 65 max at the moment.  We hardly ever get fog here but we do get morning and evening mist particularly when it has been raining.

    Enjoy your day ladies

Well, we are back saefly from our SF outing.  The weather was amazing!  I never slipped on my jacket at all.  Thursday evening was a bitt too cool for me to want to go out and walk, but I was pretty comfortable otherwise.  I wore a light sweater when one was needed, and tied it around my neck when it wasn't.  DH and I walked around 5 miles on Friday and well over that on Saturday.  Both of us are a bit stiff and sore today, but we had a wonderful time.  Blue skies most of the time on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.  Dh enjoyed himself on his first trip to SF and would love to go back.  I look forward to it, too.  Now we are back home in the oven, over 100° today.

meece - so glad to hear you got home safely and that you enjoyed your trip - fancy the weather being so kind to you after all your efforts to find a jacket.  I have fond memories of seafood chowder served in a sour dough loaf down at the Pier in SF - yum.

Rain has cleared here for the moment but it is getting a little colder.

I'm glad the weather co-operated for you Meece. There were some tourists from SF up here over the weekend and they were complaining that they had left fog to come to fog! I'm headed to the Bay Area on Thursday for a few days. I can't wait to thaw out! I have my 6 month onc appointment on Tuesday and am dreading it...

Walking outside here is like entering a blast furnace!

I have a GP followup Monday and a CT on Wednesday.  My 6-mo follow up with the onc is on the 16th of next month. 4 weeks away.  I will still be keeping you in my prayers.

I try to remember each of you who are going through especially stressful times.

Meece and Smith, you'll both be in my thoughts and prayers on Monday and Meece, during your CT on Wednesday.

We are cold this morning at 59 degrees with sprinkles although we're supposed to be in the low 80s later today.

Blessings to all of you.  I pray things go well with you on your journey.  It has remained hot here--up in the 90's each day and maybe down to 79 at night.  We had a break in the rain for about a week, but it started again yesterday.  Now it is hot and muggy.  We are playing hookey from work today--leaving around lunch time to go over to St. Pete and watch the Tampa Bay Rays play a baseball game.  I always try to remember that work is a part of my life, but not my whole life--sorta like bc.  It has its place in my life, but I don't get to do any of this again--this is not a dress rehearsal.  So today, I'm going on statge and have fun at the game.  We have seats three rows back from the Rays dug out.  I'll have to watch for balls and broken bats!

Tremendous thunder/lightning storm here yesterday!  It was great.  Temp dropped about 10 degrees.

Leave tomorrow for Clam Beach near Arcata CA-Smithlme I wish you just a tad closer or we were staying a little longer (leaving Sunday) DD, her BFF & I are going for a reunion camp out.  We went last year about this time (just before my 3rd T/C treatment) I was out of it & the girls had a BLAST on their own!  They've been talking ever since about doing it again, so we are!

Ball game was wonderful.  We had seats right behind the Rays dugout and my fav pitchers pitched.  Of course, we won.  Had a wonderful footlong hot dog with mustard, onions and relish.  The cold beer was good too.

Came home and it had rained at the house.  I spent the evening in the pool with my little surrogate grandbabies.  All is right with the world!

Glad you had a good time Mary.  What kind of cold beer did you have?  I like beer too.  I like wine too.  I like rum and vodka too.  What's wrong with this situation???

    Have a great trip Joni!
