New to this site so browsing and noticed this thread. Some great quotes & poems and just so happened that yesterday I was searching the internet for "friend" quotes (feeling well enough to do a couple 'thank you' gifts for friends who have been so good to me while going through the last few months). Here are a couple humorous ones I like (unknown author on all 3)...
~ Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.
~ Be happy unless you have made other plans.

As the old man walked the beach at dawn, he noticed a young man ahead of him picking up starfish and flinging them into the sea. Finally catching up with the youth, he asked him why he was doing this. The answer was that the stranded starfish would die if left until the morning sun. "But the beach goes on for miles and there are millions of starfish," countered the other. "How can your effort make any difference?" The young man looked at the starfish in his hand and then threw it to safety in the waves. "It makes a difference to this one", he said.

Loving the sharing, thank you sisters
Sweet are the uses of adversity
Which, like the toad, ugly and venoumous,
Wears yet a precious jewel on his head;
And this our life, exempt from public haunt,
Finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks,
Sermons in stones, and good in everything.
