LindaLou and coonie - Thanks so much for your thoughts on this.  It certainly makes sense that the smaller the pocket, the more the microbeads will push out.  And the picture certainly helps to show what you mean.

Unfortunately, I cannot sew at all.  Buttons are the only thing that I even break out a needle for.    I guess I'm looking for the lazy woman's answer to prostheses.  So far, it seems that my lightweight foam forms are the answer.  They are super-comfortable, and keep their shape (obviously).

Are the microbead forms ok for swimming?  Maybe I'll just keep them for that.

Yes, the microbeads are perfect for swimming.  And you can sew a snap onto the form and on your suit, and then snap them together........so the form doesn't slip out of place...OR do the same thing with velcro!
(info. came from a fitter ...I showed her my TLC microbead forms, and she told me that.)

p.s.  my family gets a kick out of my "poofing" my forms.....or when i'm "punching" them to make sure they're really in place in the right place :)

    Robin -

Have you tried the foam forms? No "poofing" required. I don't have to mess with them at all, and I wear them for 12-14 hours at a time.  They look good too.  And pretty cheap - TLC has them for $30 for unweighted and $48 for weighted.  I got the Amoena Tri-leisure forms because I had reached my max out-of-pocket on my insurance and they were paid for at 100% (which they needed to be since my fitter charged over $200 apiece for them). I like the Amoena forms because they have a fabric cover that you can remove and wash.  Of course the form can be washed too. I use the weighted form - it stays put, and isn't very heavy at all.  I like them a lot - very comfortable.

    cornellalum,

Did you mean the TruLife Tri-Leisure form? I can't find any Amoena form that's called Tri-Leisure. I have the TruLife unweighted Tri-Leisure form, which is nice, and I've thought about trying the weighted version. It's been so hot this summer and I'm tired of sweating behind my forms. I'd like to find a weighted alternative that will keep me a little cooler.

    Barbara -

Oops.  You're right.  They are TruLife Tri-Leisure forms.  I just assumed that they were from Amoena because all the other forms at the mastectomy boutique were Amoena forms, and I cut off the tags when I started wearing them.  I just went back and looked at my paperwork, and yup, they are TruLife.

They are hot, though (just like my originals!), especially in this crazy heat we've had this summer.  Nowhere near as bad as those awful silicone forms, but still hot.  Of course, I'm wearing a large size, and having hot flashes every other hour, so I'm not sure that I'm a good tester for temperature.  If you do find a form that's not hot, I'll surely be interested.

By the way, Barbara, I used your website a lot during this journey.  It was wonderfully helpful.  Thank you.

    Cornellalum,

Nope....haven't tried anything but my Amoena silicones and the TLC microbeads...and 95% of the time, I just go flat.  I can't stand anything!!  The cami's bug me....my own bras bug me...the mastectomy bra bugs me.  No matter what I wear, my chest is *extra* numb, and I can't stand anything around me.

I guess it's just a good thing I'm tall and slender, and that it's not terribly noticeable when I do go flat....at least *I* haven't noticed any stares or double takes.

(and I don't have the patience nor the money to keep trying out a whole bunch of different stuff, as in other forms, bras, and cami's.....pretty frustrating, this whole thing, is....but it's doable, I guess..)

    blessings...robin

I just ordered some bean bag boobies from TLC, and I'm excited!  I've been able to get two more camisoles from Target, so now I have one in each color.  They are sooooooooooooo much more comfortable than a bra.

Thanks again, Coonie, for starting this thread, and thanks to everyone for all the comments and advice about foobs!

    Love to all of you,
    Artemis

Ok, my foobies came in the mail today, I am wearing them, and I think I look pretty darn good. Kiss  Seriously, I find them very comfortable in the Target camisole.

    Thanks again, Everyone!!

Artemis!!!! So glad you like them. I've really enjoyed mine too. Every so often, I'll give them a good "squish" to make them plump up and they look good again.

I saw another thread about a "new bra". I checked it out and also ordered one of the bras. Some of the ladies were saying that it should work well with the beanie forms. You might want to look in to it.
