Yay Sweetie! Keep us posted

Hi ladies,
I had my appt with my PS today. He said he can't really do much about the space, hmmm?!! He said it is because my chest is too thin and if opens it up it could end up migrating to the center. I felt the gummies for the first time. They felt really firm!! I felt the regular silicone and it felt really squishy. I was wishing there was something in-between! I know some you have Mentor's but he is not part of that study, he uses Allergan. He filled me too 400cc's and he said he doesn't really over fill very much even with gummies. The next appointment may be a final fill or a discussion for surgery. He doesn't think I need to go much bigger at this point. I feel really confused now! I am liking the round shape. He said the rounds will be even rounder and the gummies more of a slope. He said to over simplify it, some people feel the gummies look better without clothes and the rounds better in clothes. GRRR! Why can't one of them just have it all! I have to really think about this because I do want to look natural and he said there will be a step off with the round, but at the same time I like the fullness on top and I am just afraid I won't get that with the gummies. I try posting a new pic on the forum today.
-
I can't help you make your decision, obviously, that's personal.
I'll comment that I think what he's saying about "with" and "without" clothes is that the gummies have a more natural slope to the upper part of them so therefore when you're undressed its generally not (as) obvious that you have implants. In comparison, naked, the rounds, esp the higher profile ones, are more likely to show the edges and that they're really round, which isn't as natural. In clothes that aren't showing the edges, though, the rounds, esp the higher profile ones, can give more "vavavavoom" fullness in the upper pole. Whether or not that looks "better" than the 410's should be YOUR judgement as to whether that's something you want or not. If however you wear scoop necks that show the upper edges then yes you'll have that upper pole fullness but may (emphasize MAY) also show a dent or dropoff where the implant ends. So do the rounds look better in clothes or not? My point is that there are good and bad points to both and you have to decide which things are more important to you.
I will say that personally I'm surprised at how people talk so much about how terrible the TEs feel (so they're very feeling oriented) but when considering which implants to get they mostly talk about how they will look. For me, how it feels in my body (not to my hand, that's not as important to me) is just as important if not more important than looks. That's just me. Unfortunately there are few who've had both a gummy inside them and a regular silicone inside them so its difficult to get a comparison of how they felt different in the chest from the same person.
-
Sweetie -- look at Kate, look at Val, look at Kristen's results... they all have round silicone and they don't look like hamburger buns. I think, as CS said, you have to decide what is more important to you... and then go for it.
-
SWEETIE~ you are having the exact same dilemmas asi was! I was so torn between the 2 different shape of implant. I love the fullness of the rounds (upper pole) but not keen on how fake they look.Even when i have worn strappy little tops all summer,if i even raise my arm slightrly,or if im in a position where my pecs are flexed, they look so fake with the step off. I know i would feel very self conscious of this in the future. I can put up with it for now cus i know its not forever.
I came to the decision that the shape of the gummy would be right for me. I may not think that once its in!! ha ha. But thats what im going with. The only time i will change to a round silicone is if my gummy rotates in the pocket with doing my sports.
-
CS777-I agree about your comments of naked and clothes. Right now with the TE there is a huge step off at the top and a flat area in between the TE so it looks so obviously fake. To top it off when I showed my husband after my fill yesterday he didn't not like the "fake" look. I went back over all the gummy posts and realize it is going to be a trade-off either way. The major problem I am having though is the space. Deborah on Breast sizing 101 said it has to be fixed or I won't be happy with either implant. I cant' understand why my PS said he can't fix it. She suggested a second opinion. UGH! I just want to get this thing done.
Lilah-thanks my doll! I'll check out the pics and I remember Kate's and thought she looked great and she had the big space and they fixed it.
M-star- you and I are too peas in a pod! We do have the same concerns and thought process and I agree. I used to love my little strappy tank tops even though my natural breasts were small and a bit droopy, they still looked natural. Now when I put one on there is a huge step off and indentation and it looks weird! I like the fullness but not the top where it looks fake. I thought the point of rounds was to show of the top and if that is not going to look good I dont' see the point. I did think the gummies felt firm and I felt a little disappointed feeling them, but many of the girls say they feel different inside. I think with you and I we may regret not trying them and we can always switch out to rounds, but not the other way around. By the way, you mentioned your Dr. is going to fix your space through a pocket revision, is that correct?
-
SWEETIE~ Yes she said she will bring them a bit closer together during exchange. She said that there would be a limit though as you could end up with one giant boob!!! LOL
The gap between mine right now is around 2". I believe someone on here said that you could be limited with how the pec muscle is attached to the chest as to if and how much the gap can be brought in? I don't really know how it all works but i just feel the gap is too large at the moment. It looks ok in a top but in a bikini it's ridiculous! Not that i let it put me off wearing one on my holiday! LOL
I hope your PS can do something about it for you. Maybe the gap is just more noticable with the TE's in. It may not look so obvious with the gummy in as the huge step off will be gone and they will be more gradual.
I have my appointment on the 9th Aug so i will try and ask lots of questiond about stuff and i'll report back
-
M-star- my gap is probably that wide too. I simply hate it. My boobs look huge and with the gap it looks ridiculous. I was just drafting an email to my PS with pics so he could review my case in time for next appt in 3 weeks when he plans to talk about the exchange surgery. I sometimes wonder if these things can't be done, or is it harder to do so they prefer no to do them. I don't know, over analyzing again!
Keep me posted on your appointment

Sweetie -- do remember that the TEs DO look unnatural in a way that neither gummy or regular silicone will ever look.... and good luck with making your decision!
-
CS: That is an interesting observation about TE vs. Implants and how we react to them. We do complain about tightness and the TE hurting us as we expand and how awful we feel. We want the implant to be "perfect" and we all know, if we are honest, that we cannot, no matter how good your surgeon is, or what kind of surgery you do, be like you were before you had cancer. We just will be different.
-
I personally hated my breasts before cancer. I had 2 kids, lost 20 lbs after that and they looked like deflated balloons. They were fine in a bra but when I laid down they were flat to my chest and saggy and they looked awful if I was bending over without a bra on. I always thought my breasts would look better than that at 33 yrs old. Thought I'd still be a little perky. So, my hubby and I joke that I said so many horrible things about them that they finally tried to kill me. I don't like the scars across each foob but I am happy so far and I know the end result will look different than my old breasts, but not necessarily in a bad way. I agree, I just hope they "feel" good, not just "look" good. I think waiting for 1.5 yrs for reconstruction really changed things for me. I lived with one boob for so long that I am beyond excited to have ANYTHING at all.
-
LOL Jilly -- love that "they tried to kill me" as revenge for being hated. Mine also were very large and saggy. That said, I always was perfectly happy with what I had.... though I must admit that when I started taking pictures after my second lumpectomy I was shocked at what the camera showed me back. I do think the end result (post exchange and lift/reduction) includes some aspects that are better than what I had before (they sure are perky now!)... and I am grateful frankly that I have anything at all that resembles a natural breast.
-
Jilly~ i didn't like the look of my boobs pre-Mx either so anything i end up with will be a vast improvement also!
Just can't help striving for perfection which i know is impossible really. But i think letting my PS know that i expect as close to perfection as possible, kinda lets them know they cant just do a mediocre job on me as i will not be happy after! LOL. I know many women will just be grateful for what ever can be salvaged after BC,but my surgery was prophy so rightly or wrongly,i expect good results. If my PS thought id be happy and grateful for what ever they can give me,i'd worry that that was all they were going to aim for-just enough to get by.
Aiom for the stars! You may hit the moon also on the way! =D
-
M-star- I totally agree! I'm not feeling happy now with the big gap and some research and speaking with Deborah reveals it is lateral displacement-meaning they are too far over! From what I read it can and should be fixed but after my last visit my PS was saying there wasn't much he could do! I am going to push the issue because if it can be fixed I think he needs to do it now rather than later after I am unhappy. I agree sometimes if you don't say anything they will just let things go. I am not looking for some unrealistic perfection either, but for them to do the best possible job they can do in my case. Nothing wrong with having high expectations of your PS skills, after all that's what he gets paid for! I do agree with the ladies here though there is no such thing as perfection.
For the record I wasn't thrilled with my pre MX boobs either. After two kids they lost a full cup size and were very flat on the top. I remember being so disappointed after my second child when all my bras were too big! I had to start wearing padded push-up bras which I never did in my 20's. So life goes on and here we are again with boobs that are not perfect, but maybe in some ways a little better and some ways not.
I have a friend who has Alpicia (loss of all her hair-wears a wig) and she told me every time she gets a new wig she prays "God, help me accept this as my own" For her it is always traumatic changing her hair and getting used to her "new self" gain, but a big part of that is just accepting that fact that no it is not fully yours, but in time you can make it yours and be happy with it regardless of its imperfections.
-
Kay -- I posted this for you on Sweetie's pic forum post but I'll say it here as well. You can get upper pole fullness with a gummy if you get full height (or anyway more fullness than I have, for example, because I have medium height implants).
-
Lilah~ my PS has already told me she was going to use either low or moderate height implants. I told her i wanted the moderate and NOT the low!
The onlt thing with the full height,is they will look narrower and i want to keep the width as much as possible. I asked her if when she moved my pockets inward more, would that mean there would be a bigger 'footprint' for a bigger implant?? And she said no,it doesn't work that way =(
I will ask again about it though
It seems logical to me that if she extends the pocket inward,it would make the pocket a bit bigger. So why cant she then put a wider implant in than what she would have done if my pockets were being kept as they are??
Also,to get a full height implant i would have to sarifice projection and i dont want that either.
Mind you.i expect its no different than someone coming to me and asking why their naturally ginger hair wont go as light a blonde as they lady next to her who had light brown hair!!! LOL People are all different and results differ accordingly.
SWEETIE~ yes i would definatly ask your PS to at least explain WHY he cant move your pockets inwards more.
-
Kay -- indeed I'm sure you are right (why can't my frizzy hair be straight? well, chemo did do something about that -- steep price to pay!) My PS told me that when you go larger you go wider... so perhaps it's a matter of the limits of how large (overall cc's) you are able to go. I'm sure your PS will do what looks best on you and will certainly hear all you've said about what you want
Somehow I can't imagine anyone ignoring you!
-
Lilah~ HA HA!!!!!!!
Im not loud but i sure am persistant
!
-
M-star- good explaination of the difference in sizes. I'm not sure he would use and I am going to ask him that. I think I would want a wider one too. I don't like the tall skinny idea, that doesn't seem right.
I put my pics up on the forum so let me know what you girls think.
-
Sweetie, you look great, I love the pic in the orange shirt, it looks so great. I can't wait to see the final product.

I am getting my 2nd fill on Thursday. I have 500cc and they are at 220 one side and 180 other side. I am fine with them so far but I have a fold that looks like it will literally pop through the skin at any moment. It looks like a little pencil is being pushed out from the inside and it comes out like a little pointy tent. He told me before it will move with each fill and eventually unfold. It's my old mastectomy side and it's pretty tight. He did tell me that if it stays that way too long it actually CAN come through the skin.

Hi
Just returned from visiting my out of state daughter. Wanted to let you know the "Pat Down" at the airport wasn't bad at all. I have TEs. Coming and going, the women Patters were nice. They explained in detail what they would be doing. I was offered a private room which I declined. Just wanted to get going.
I was supposed to get my first fill last week but when my PT took the stitches out he decided to wait another week. How long does the process from fills to exchange usually take. I thought I'd be done before schools starts.
I emailed Timtam but still haven't gotten a reply. I'm just concerned about getting soft natural looking boobs (just like everyone). I liked my old boobs. My first grandchild is due in March so I want cuddly boobs.
Thanx
-
I had my mx in January and my exchange in June.
-
I think the timing for exchange depends on your surgeon. My plastic surgeon said I had to wait a minimum of 3 months from the date of my last fill. Again, each surgeon seems to have their own schedule for filling as well.
-
Kitwe - the picture forum is sort of on hold at the moment. Hang in there.
I had MX/TEs in December and exchange in May (did someone ask about the timing and I missed it?) My PS said to wait 6 - 8 weeks between last fill and exchange. I believe I waited 7 or 8 weeks. My fills started out weekly and then after I got an infection (when I was a little more than halfway filled) she started spreading them out ... once every two weeks and she also filled less.
-
I waited 13 weeks from my last fill to the exchange. I think it's just different for everyone. Wish there was more of an exact answer when it came to all of this.
-
Got my 2nd fill today. they did 80 and 40, so now both sides are 260 (500cc expander), we had to play catch up on one side. He said there was actually room to do more and that since the next appt is 3 weeks away we'll plan for 100 each side at next fill. He said only 2 more fills after that and he predicts the exchange will be in December. He likes to wait 3-5 months, and said he thinks I will be a 3 months girl because the skin is expanding nicely. Yay! Christmas boobies!
-
Woo hooo Jilly!! Sounds delightful
You can wrap yourself with a big bow!
-
JillyG- sounds like everything is going great! I was uneven for a while too, now am at 400 and maybe need one more fill. I am not sure how long I have to wait for exchange. I am getting used to the TE now, they don't feel that weird to me now!
Lilah-how are you doing hon? Is everything settling in nicely? I see my PS in a few weeks and hopefully can talk a lot more about the finial implant size and stuff. At first I felt these were big, now they don't seem so big! I hope the gummy will not be much smaller! I keep studiyng that darn catalog of sizes!
