gotta get some zz now, night
Bethie
-
just stopping in here to say hi too.
Things are heating up in Kansas.. moved the piano yesterday.
-
So another crazy busy week for me. We went crabbing today
and then we leave in the AM for 3 days at the beach. Then home for one and then back to the beach busy, busy but I am having a blast.
I am sad that summer is half the way over here.I hope everyone had a great weekend.
-
I can't believe it either---I'm busy as a beaver, but in a good way. Just got back from my girlfriend's for the weekend. Then work coming up-usual stuff there-boring!!!! Then taking my 40th birthday off-two days of celebrations on the way. Then the biggie--my nephew's wedding July 31 and Vegas Aug 5-9. Seeing Donny & Marie again--big reunion!!! yes, I know--I'm a deadhead, but not dead!!! Let's have some fun girls--I've got a new lease on life, and it feels great! Hope all of you are still feeling good!!!
-
we really are moving... \
this chandelier ad cracked me up.. it's sooo huge
-
Hi Apple, how's the renovations going? Hope you're finding some time to enjoy your summer in between all that work : ) That's a big room, looks like you have plenty of space for that piano!
Jaimie, sounds like you're having a great summer, I agree, it's going by really fast! Your beach trip sounds fun, enjoy!
Hi Beth, you have quite a lot planned, sounds great! I've never been to Vegas. Do Donny & Marie still sing Deep Purple? I still remember the words to that song, lol
Another scorching week ahead....I have to drive Michelle(my 20 yr old) to appts on Mon & Tues...which wouldn't be so bad if my van had working AC. Ugh.
A weird story...Michelle never got a driver license, although she did pass the written test a couple of years ago, we never got the road test done. This week, she gets a letter from the DMV saying that her probationary driving period is almost over, congrats, etc...it even had her license number on it...but she never got one! I was surprised that they would make such a mistake.
-
Apple, missed your chandelier post..omg that thing is crazy huge! You gonna get it? ; )
-
Kerry ~ Thanks for the encouragement! I've started Effexor, and hopefully it'll kick in soon. I'm so sorry that Jack needs surgery, but I'm thankful that there is treatment for him.
Jamie ~ I'm glad you still have your toenails, and I hope the medicine works quickly and well. My big toenails are still sore, and the left one is growing all stupid but they don't seem to be infected. Did you have Taxol?
Susan ~ I'm so glad you can have your vacation before chemo ~ yay! And a BIG yay for dropping tumor markers!!! (And I understand what you mean about how your mind was working.) Big hugs to you, dear sister!
Cheryl ~ I hope you can get some answers soon. All this bleeding and cramping has got to be beyond annoying.
Judy ~ I'm sorry Julia is sick again. She is much on my mind. Funny about Michelle's drivers licence, lol.
Michele ~ I'm glad you're doing ok with your expanders. I still consider them from time to time. And from waaaaaaaaaay back: congratulations on getting tenure!!
apple ~ Hurrah for getting the piano moved safely! And boy that is one big chandelier!! Are you getting it? I love that it's black; very cool looking.
Bethie ~ Lucky you getting to see Donny again. He was my first celebrity crush, and I still think he's swoony. I still have all my 45's from him and The Osmonds: Puppy Love, Sweet and Innocent, Down By The Lazy River, Hold Her Tight...good times!
Love and hugs to all you wonderful Furies!
Artemis -
Judy--- Yeah, they still do Deep Purple, Little bit Country, Little Bit Rock-n-Roll, etc in a medley of hits in their Vegas show!!! Donny of course does Puppy Love, etc. Can you believe I was ONLY 2 when he came out with that????? I'm 40 on the 29th of this month too--kinda bittersweet--if I didn't have cancer, I would've had my baseline mammo--that makes me mad at cancer sometimes, cause I didn't have a chance to have a mammogram just to check things, but despite that I'm here. So I'M READY TO PAAAARRRRRTTTTYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hello all. Now, it's the knee. I had a wonderful reunion last weekend with my college friends, some I hadn't seen in decades. That Saturday we rented a limo and did a winery tour. The hubs and I bought several bottles to bring home. Got home Sunday afternoon and the box of wine sat at the top of the basement stairs to go down. I needed something in the basement to make dinner so I decided no problem - I will take the box down. Ever so carefully, I dragged the box down one step at a time - and proceeded to completely miss the last step. Post MRI and a negative CT scan (thankfully), I have 3 torn ligaments and a fractured tibia. Crutches for 6-8 weeks and a leg brace for 3-4 weeks. Saved the wine, though!
Now here's my question. The orthopedist says he doesn't want to surgically repair the ACL due to my substantially higher risk of blood clots. He says it's because of the BC. Anyone else hear of that?
-
Nancy, yikes, that sounds really painful! Glad you saved the wine, lol, but I hope you are ok.
As for blood clots, yes and no...BC can be a risk factor for clotting, as can chemo....BUT, if you are done with chemo, and your BC is NED, you should be ok. They can always give you blood thinners after the surgery to be safe.
I had a clot in my lung during chemo last year, and my hematologist says as long as I am BC free, I can go off the blood thinners, have reconstruction, etc. I think I go off the coumadin in September, then I can plan my surgery.
You could get another opinion from another doctor, but if the fact that you *had* BC is his only reason for concern, I don't see the problem. Of course, if you already have a history of blood clots, that's another story.
-
Nancy--Hope you are OK--long time no see--where've ya been???
Popping in quick as usual saying hi to my Furies!!!!
Hope everyone is well!!!
-
Nancy, I haven't heard that BC increases the risk of clots. I hope you have pain medicne to keep you comfortable after your fall!
I, myself am having a lot of knee pain tonight. I ran out of vicodin and my onc can't get me a refill until tomorrow. I had my family doctor order tests to see if we can get a clue as to why I am continuing to have joint pain and muscle weakness. Everything was normal except my blood creatine kinase level was high. This is an enzyme that is in muscle tissue. The fact that a lot of it is in the blood means that my muscle cells are being broken down. I am having the level drawn again to see if it is still high. I'll keep you informed!
By the way, I have another vaginal ultrasound and appt with a gynacologist to inquire about hysterectomy on Thursday.
When will this crap ever end!?
-
Cheryl, I completely agree with you. When will this crap ever end??? Just when I think I've wrapped up one problem, another surfaces. Hang in there. It's hard work, but I cling to my sense of huimor for dear life.
The pain meds make me sick to my stomach so I take Advil from time to time. Ambien makes me sleep like a baby all night.
You know, I thought post BC with NED the blood clot thing was not completely accurate. But I called my NP and she agreed with the ortho's treatment plan - she completely screwed up her ACL last year so she recently went through it as well. So, I feel better. Plus, she said I can get the ligaments repaired any time if I still have pain. I can deal.
Everyone stay cool. Hard to do in DC.
-
popping in.. no WE WILL NOT be getting that awful chandelier. We'll actually have none, while we wait to find one at a sale.
We are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo busy. I'm just freaking out and it's so dang hot.. but, we are getting excited in our exhaustion.
prayers for all.
-
Nancy ~ yikes @ your knee! Torn ligaments sound like no fun at all.
Good luck with the crutches and brace, and yay for saving the wine!
(((Cheryl))) ~ I'm so sorry you're having so much pain. I wish I knew when this crap will end. Seems like it's always something now... How did your gyn visit go?
apple ~ Aw, c'mon. I want you to get the GIGANTIC chandelier. You know you wanna!!
Furies ~ I got some blonde highlights in my hair today, and the stylist blew it out straight which was fun. I'm going to try to post a picture.
Have a good weekend, everyone! -
Oh my Elaine, love your hair!!! You look wonderful : ) Did you get a hair cut at all? I am thinking at some point I need to even things out a bit...but am afraid to get it cut
Apple: That chandeleir looked rather 'gothic' to me, and totally out of place in that living room/parlor it was in, lol...
Lots of storms today, tonight, tomorrow...what a strange summer it's been. The sky was really weird at sunset tonight, throwing a yellowish glow over everything, spooky!
Hope everyone is doing well!
-
Hey furies!!! Just popping in to say hi!!! I'm so busy these next few weeks--my 40th birthday party, my nephews' wedding, and packing for Vegas!!! At least it's good stuff, then after Vegas school starts back up ---- taking Intro to Sociology. Should be interesting!!!
Night gang!
-
nice hair
-
Back again--Thanks Apple!--I'm thnking you meant me --not sure. It's muggy and stormy here the last few days, but that's OK--we need the rain anyway. I just don't want it to rain on my parade--on Thursday, 29th--my 40th birthday. This chick is going ALL OUT and going to look GORGEOUS!!! It's a big birthday--then my nephews' wedding--can't wait!!!
Hope the gang is well!!!!
-
Hey - back from our weeks camping!
Elaine, you look wonderful! I'm too scared to get mine cut too.
-
Hi Kerry, we missed you : ) I remember the days of camping....had a great time, but always exhausted when we got home!
Bethie: in case I miss it, Happy Birthday in advance!!! Have a great time celebrating!
It's finally stopped raining here, temps have dropped. Was a beautiful day! I actually did some mosaic work today...haven't been much in the mood lately. Still trying to get Julia situated with the Mayo clinic, am hoping to hear back from them this week. It's gonna be rough, but I am glad we are doing it. I have to start some fundraising efforts though, to pay for travel/lodging. They expect you to stay out there throughout tx. I found a website that helps with creating a fundraising webpage, so I will be working on that this week.
-
Hi, Furies ~ I'm glad you like my hair! I'm enjoying it, I've been getting lots of compliments on it, and I do believe it's all helping to lift my spirits!
As for cutting it, no, it's not really cut. She barely snipped off some of the wispy ends; you couldn't even see hair on the floor she took off so little. I'm hoping it's going to grow faster once I'm off Herceptin.
Kerry ~ Welcome back! Hope you had fun camping!
Judy ~ I'm glad you felt like working on your mosaic; we need to do things that helps us relax and feel better. I've been doing a lot of crocheting lately and have been tackling some new-to-me patterns and stitches that I've been meaning to do "one of these days". I hope you hear from Mayo soon!!!
apple ~ are you all moved in yet?
Have a good day, Everyone! -
Artemis~ Your hair looks fantastic!! It will grow faster once you are done with vitamin H.
Kerry~ Glad you had fun camping.
Bethie~ There was a show on Donnie the other day and all I could do was giggle thinking about you being one of his "groupies".
As for me I am ache but I just keep going. I still have not heard a word about the bone scan again. I have finished session 1 for the week and I have 2 more to go. Then I need to schedule some for the following week. I am hoping that things continue to pick up. I do love my job.
I need to try to run again as my stomach has finally stopped hurting so bad. I just feel so out of shape it isn't funny.
Judy~ I hope you can get some answers for Julia. ((hugs))
I hope everyone is having a great day!!!
-
Good luck with the running Jaimie. Just start slow, and you will improve. I am going to do a Half Marathon in October!
-
Kerry--Welcome back--how was camping??
Jamieh---Yeah, I'm one of the deadheads/groupies--and that's fine with me!!!!! I love it, and this girl is gonna have some FUN in Vegas!!! Were you ever a groupie??
Hope everyone is doing fine----I got the next 2 days off--TIME TO PARTY!!!
-
No Bethie I was never a groupie BUT I think it is awesome that you love his music so much
. Happy Birthday !!!!
So I still haven't started running yet. I will get there...soon. We are heading out to the beach for the next 3 days and then we are going back on Thurs. I have been crazy busy but I still have canceritisI sure wish it would go away.

Kerry: wow, half a marathon, that is pretty impressive. With my asthma, I never could run, or even walk very fast; that is why I stick to riding the bike. Has Jack had or been scheduled for his surgery yet? Wasn't sure if I missed a post on that or not...
Jaimie: Have fun at the beach! (((Hugs))) to you, I hate canceritis too, it stinks.
Elaine: Your hair has a nice shape/style to it, that's why I thought you got a cut : ) It's funny, whenever I do a mosaic, I always put off the finishing touches...maybe I don't want to part with it, lol, or I'm not 100% satisfied with it, I don't know. I remember doing crochet as a kid, it is hard to do!
Still no word from Mayo. Julia had 2 appts this week, but no real answers to why her left arm/leg are getting weak. She will end up with more tests soon I imagine. I must admit, I am more stressed out these last few weeks than ever before, which is saying alot....things just seem to be getting worse for her, and for the first time, she is really scared, and that has turned out to be scary for me....my tummy hurts all day long, every day. I end up staying up with her until 2 or 3am every nite, and I am starting to feel it.
-
{{{{Judy}}}}, take care of yourself. You can't help Julia if you aren't well.
Well, this week has been a mess. I think I have an infected FOOB. Bradley broke his leg and they don't know if the growth plate is involved. I'm waiting for TM results today (saw onc yesterday). And... I had a full-blown panic attack yesterday (my 1st in a long time). I just feel like curling up into a ball but can't... there's so much going on at work; I can't call-in sick today.
I'll write more later... maybe you guys can give me some insight...
xxoo, Michele
