Hi ladies... path should be in by Friday or early next week.  We already know there was cancer in the uterus, but just don't know how much of it was involved. I'm hoping for that "microscopic" word again. Final report from the ovarian removal was ER+PR/+ and "slightly +" Her2... not sure what slightly positive means but I'm sure onc. will fill me in. I believe it's graded on a 0-3 score, and this was somewhwere around 1.

Apple, why was the Femara not working for u? I don't know much about Femara, but my onc. said I'll be on it after chemo is done, the tamoxifen failed me obviously. I'm wondering if I should have been on something else from the get-go seeing that I wasn't getting periods anymore? hmmm....

Knowing your mom didn't suffer too much should be a relief, but loosing a parent is still very hard. Thoughts are with you and your family.

Kerry, cataracts... it can be reversed right? Poor little guy. hang in there.

Judy, what a nice surprise for Julia!! She'll be so happy!

Sue~ If your onc. doesn't bring it up have them run the FISH test on your sample and see if it is HER2 + if it is then you should be put on herceptin.

i just didn't respond to the Femara Susan.. FORTUNATELY i have an excellent indicator node.. we know if there is the slightest progression.  i'm going to try faslodex..

dr. onc. said there was no indication i need to chemo yet.. let's hope it stays that way.. but who knows.

Apple, I hope Faslodex works for you, I have read good things about it. It would be nice to get a couple of years between you and Chemo!

Kerry:  glad to hear there is no serious underlying problem with Jack, do they need to run more tests, or will they just go ahead and schedule surgery for him?  Your kids must start school late in the year to be getting out so late in June...or maybe it's just different in Canada, longer school year??

Jaimie:  that's great that you phototgraphed a wedding, I saw the pic on FB, LOVED it!  It sounds like your energy is coming back, hope it just gets better and better for you : )  Have you been doing alot of swimming?  Maybe you have swimmer's ear....earaches are the worst, hope it clears up for you soon.

Apple:  glad to hear no chemo for you yet....

Julia will like her room, but I think I overdid it a bit on my poor body....a lot of work to do in one day...I am having major back pain.  She is so sick that she tends to have quite a messy room; lots of clothes laying around, medical supplies/trash....it took me all day/night to get it done, plus prepping the floor.  But I love the surprised look when she gets home, it's all worth it.

Thanks Judy for the compliment.  My energy is better but there are days that I am having a hard time getting off of the couch.  I hope your back feels better soon.  You are right we do all kind of things to make our loved ones happy.

So tomorrow is going to be BUSY but I am hopeful that I will get a LOT done.  It's all running around trying to get everything done and remember everything which is driving me crazy.  Today I cut all three of my dogs hair, fought with my PC, took the kids to my friends house swimming, fought some more with my PC and needless to say that is still what I am doing.  I have it bogged down and then I am still trying to figure out the SEO stuff.......

    That's great Beth!  woo-hoo : )

Jaimie, sounds like you're more energetic, careful not to run yourself down, lol...you're a busy lady!

So I just realized that June is now over, and while I had 2 very heavy periods in May, I did not get one in June!!!  Go figure!  Lots of cramps, but that's it.  Still no hot flashes though, so I don't know if I'm menopausal or not.

    Yah Beth!

Judy - I think there is a test they can do to check if you are menopausal or not... I still find it really weird that I will never get another period! Not complaining, it is just weird.

It is Canada Day here today, so we have a lovely extra long weekend. We are having friends over for a BBQ this afternoon. Looks like a sunny day too.

    Have a good one!

Happy Canada Day Kerry and to everyone up North :).  Enjoy your weekend and be safe.

So my list to get done yesterday was not all done :(.  I had to take Larry to the doctor's and he has a sinus infection so that messed all of my plans up.  I also got a new cart of my website so I have been setting it up but I am behind again.  :)

So I am trying to start running again.  I went this morning and I am so out of shape it isn't funny but I need to start someplace.

Alright of to get some things done today.  I hope everyone has a great Thursday!!

Keep on at the running Jaimie!! Really, when I started I could not even run one lamp post. This morning I ran 6 miles. It will come back to you, I was amazed at how quickly I improved. Walking  and running is the way to go - I still walk a bit when I get tired (or the dog needs to sniff!) I love it now.

Hope everyone has a great day!

So I am hobbling today but it's a good hobble from exercise. I am going to try and go again tonight. I got a lot done yesterday and I have been productive so far today :). Kerry my dog was thrilled to be out running but my other 2 were upset because they couldn't go.

So what is everyone's plans for the weekend?? We are hoping to go crabbing in the morning with just my DH and myself. The kids are going to spend the night at my DH's aunt's house so we are getting up bright and early or should I say dark and early to go crabbing. Then we are going to a party by boat on Sunday and then more boating on Monday. Do you see a theme here :).

Hey gang!!!  I'm planning on hanging with my sister, nieces, nephews, etc for a celebration of 4th of July.

All of you sound like you're doing great!! I'm doing great myself--felt kinda shitty last few weeks--think I get PMS w/o a period now--DAMN!!!! WTH is that all about?????? I was enjoying no period--I don't need the mood without it.  That's BS!!!!  I'm MUCH better now--joined Gilda's club near me in Latham, and I'm sorry I didn't join sooner.  I don't know what I was thinking if I was at all LOL--chemo brain got me good!!!!  I'm in now though, and the timing couldn't be better. I socialized and cried with a woman I barely knew at my new member meeting, and felt "at home" so to speak.

From the point back a few years ago, 2006, we had my mother in a home, then dealt with her passing, then my cancer all within a matter of 4 years.  We all took care of her as best we could, then I got sick.  The emotions were built up in my system for so long, and waterworks happened!!! Stock in kleenex would've made me rich LOL!!!!

Anyway, enough about me.  Are any of you in Gilda's club???   Take care and be safe!!!

Kerry:  Glad you had a nice Canada Day, and that the weather was good...it's gonna be really hot the next few days, too.  My doc didn't bother with blood tests for menopause (hormone levels) because they are not very accurate in predicting if one is actually memonpausal or not.  I had read other women's posts saying their test showed them as menopausal, and then their periods started.  Guess I'll just wait and see : )

Jaimie:  good job on getting running again!  I wish I could run, but never could due to my terrible asthma.  I am biking about 4 miles a few days a week, and want to start doing more.  I bought a new bathing suit, and just need to tone up!  Have fun this weekend, I just love going on boats!

Beth: that's great that you found a local group to share and talk with.  It sounds really nice.  I never joined any local groups, but did consider it a few times.

Julia got home tonight, so we are all happy about that, especially her!  9 days in the hospital believe it or not.  Tomorrow, we are going to the beach (not Julia though), then Sunday to my sister's for bbq/swimming, hopefully she will be up to stopping by for that.  Fireworks Sunday night, then recover by the pool on Monday.

Hugs to you all, love you guys, have fun and be safe this weekend

Judy - so happy to hear that Julia is home. Wonderful news. Enjoy your weekend, sound fun.

Beth - glad you have joined Gildas club, and are finding it helpful. I never joined an support groups either.

We are enjoying our weekend. We had a big long ramble through the ravine woods yesterday, kids, husband and dog, had a lovely time. Only thing is I somehow got a red ant stuck inside my shirt and i got stung about three times...and of course on my Surgery side. So, it all looks OK this morning, just red lumps where the stings were. I have fingers crossed that they won't cause a problem. Not sure if anyone has advice?? Man, the things we now have to worry about.

A bit of a funny story - we were clearing out the side yard yesterday to lay a path and Angus was digging a trench, and chopped our phone line in half! So, we now have no land line - a guy is coming today to look, hoping he can fix it so we can continue with the work out there!

We have Angus' brothers family coming around this afternoon for a BBQ, and then we are going to friends BBQ tomorrow - a busy weekend!

    Have a good one!

Hi fellow Furies! Sounds like everyones doing well, that's good! This weekend Rosa and I are going to Virginia Beach! She only has one more chemo and we're celebrating!

I had a bit of vaginal bleeding again. I have an appiontment with my midwife next week. I think I'm going to ask for a hysterectomy/oophrectomy. I think some of you had that and said it wasn't that bad, right?

Cheryl, if you decide on a hysterectomy get it done by Da Vinci (robotic surgery).  I had mine done last Friday, and I was up and around in 3 days and just taking motrin!

Kerry ~ Here's what the lymphedema website StepUpSpeakOut says about insect bites:

In case of nicks, scratches, burns, insect bites, abrasions or any skin break, wash the area well and apply a topical antibiotic. Watch for redness, itching, sudden swelling, warmth to the touch, rash, or fever, which may indicate an infection, and get medical help promptly.

    Have a great rest-of-the-day, Furies!

    Love to all of you!!

All, back online. Bethi, such great news! I cried for hours the day I was told I was cancer free. All through a bottle of champagne. Cherish any good news. It's sometimes hard to come by.

Now I have a question for you all. Trying to decide if I need therapy. I was cleaning out my closet yesterday and going through the scarves and wigs. I put on one of my wigs - why I don't know. I realized that I can't remember what I looked like bald. Repressed memory? Maybe. I also find I can't part with the wigs. I think I'm afraid I will need them again. Any of you had thoughts like this? I'm not sure if I should be concerned.

Nancy, I remember reading some comments last year about women who hang on to their wigs/scarves not only because they worry they will need them again, but more superstitious...like if they get rid of them, they will jinx themselves and get a recurrence.  Kind of like getting rid of the maternity clothes and then getting pregnant again.

I still have my scarves in a bag in my closet,  just in case I guess.  My wig got destroyed (it was cheap, lol) so I threw that out.  I wouldn't be too concerned; if you want to hang onto them, then hang onto them...

Just back from my 6 month BS appt - all looking good, and she has bumped me to yearly. So, yah me. Tomorrow is my 1 year from last Rads, so I am officaially a year out of treatment.

Nancy - my BS was saying to me "well, you are 2 years out" and I said, no, no, only a year and a half. She said, well, it is July, you were dx in oct, that is nearly two years. I said "I don't want to jinx it' and she laughed, and said "if only we had that sort of power". So, there it is, from the horses mouth!  If you want to keep them, do, but don't worry that throwing them out will cause anything bad to happen.

All such great advice! I do feel drawn to the pregnancy analogy. I seem to recall I did that too. Maybe I'm not so cuckoo after all. Smile
