Kate33 - Good luck on your exchange surgery tomorrow! One step closer to 'done'!

Hi - I am in Glendale...
-
Catwood welcome. Well I live in Glendale also...so howdy neighbor. I hope that you will be able to meet up with us July 24 for ice cream.
Kate best to you on your exchange. We are thinking about you!

Hello everyone
I am one day post-op right now. I had a right skin/nipple sparing mx with a one-step alloderm reconstruction along with implant to the left breast. I am so relieved to have it all over and glad that I had it done. Not too much pain--managed well with Toredol (sp?).
Jenn-I am a fairly healthy person--I think I eat for the most part pretty well but I know I could improve in some areas (I love to eat tortilla chips!!). I am fairly lean--very little belly fat. I would love to learn from you how to improve my nutritional habits.
I hope to make the July 24 meeting.
-
bambers88 and ebann- Thanks for the good thoughts regarding my exchange surgery. Unfortunately, it did not go so well. The nurse in recovery gave me too much pain medication and caused me to o.d. I stopped breathing and my heart was close to stopping as well. They gave me something to counter act the pain meds but it took about 3 hours to stabilize me. Every time I fell asleep I stopped breathing again. It was very scary.
The surgery itself went great. I am already so happy with the results. And I feel so much lighter without the TE's. I hope I'm up to making this month's get together.
-
Kate; So sorry to hear what took place in the hospital. I am so relieved to know that you are okay. I am glad you are happy with your results though. I hope that you are able to make it as well. My thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery.
speech: I am glad to hear you are doing. It is such a relief to be almost done. I had DIEP done in Nov. Got my nipples tattooed in May. I am very pleased with my results. I hope that you will be just as happy.
Looking forward to seeing you both there at the sugar bowl. God willing

Speech: Tortilla Chips are ok... in moderation I eat them but the one's I get are from Fresh and Easy. They have plain Organic tortilla chips. THey have several ones make sure you get the one's that say Organic on them. They have Organic blue ones, white & yellow corn ones.

Kate--how awful for you and scary for your family. I am glad you are okay now and recovering well from your surgery.
Hi Jennifer...thanks for the info on the chips. There's a Fresh& Easy near me--maybe I can get my DD to make a chip run!!
I am getting better each day with a few minor set backs. I had a rough morning, but after a healthy breakfast and a nap, I am okay now. I wish I had the energy to go for a walk, but I just don't. I am still recovering from the hysterectomy on 6/2. This surgery is much more difficult I must say!
Happy 4th July to all!
-
speech529- Just wanted to send you some healing thoughts as well. Did I read you have had two surgeries about a month apart? Wow! I don't know how you can even consider a walk as hot as it is! I don't see a walk in my future (unless on the treadmill in the a/c) until at least October!
-
Thanks, Kate
No, I won't be out walking but I miss being able to do it. I am an avid hiker and when I see South Mountain from my upstairs window I long to be on the trail. At least its summer and I couldn't be out there anyway.
Yes, I had a total vaginal hysterectomy with removal of tubes and ovaries on June 2. That was a piece of cake compared to this. Today was a hard day...really tired. I guess that's part of the deal.
I hope I can go to the gym later next week. I would love to have a bit of a walk on the treadmill.
-
speech529- I have lived here since 1974 (originally from Michigan) and have never hiked South Mountain! Maybe when we're all up to it that would be a fun activity to do- when it's much much cooler, of course!
-
I was just talking about this with my husband yesterday, I have never hiked any of the mountains around here. I think this winter we should do one as our monthly get together then lunch or breakfast afterwards

Hi ladies, An activity of hiking sounds get to me. We will have to think about that in the fall or winter time. I have been working out 5 days a week and with my personal trainer twice a week. I have lost 18 lbs and have another 50 lbs to go. It is a process and I am starting to really love it. It feels good. I have been making much better choices in eating and doing portion control. It all really makes a difference. So I will put that on the agenda for something to do. Have a great 4th.
Blessings, Elizabeth

Hi Everyone! I am new to the Phoenix area and thankfully Kate directed me to this thread! I was dx last May and had a unilateral mx followed by dd a/c and taxol. After testing positive for BRCA1, I decided on a prophylactic mx on the other side with TE. I am 7 weeks post surgery and still pretty stiff. I am in North Phoenix and read that your last get together was at Gooseberries. That is within walking distance to my house! I just missed the boat! But I think I will be able to connect at the Sugar Bowl. Do I need to rsvp to someone?
-
Hi Cydz and welcome to our group. We would love for you to come to the sugar bowl. All you need to do is let me know that you will be there & I will take care of the rest. I hope you are healing quickly & we will see you at the sugar bowl.
-
My surgery date was rescheduled so I'll be at Sugar Bowl too ebann. Looking forward to it!
-
Hi - I am also in the phoenix area, and would also like to attend Saturday's get together.
-
Hi Phoenix Ladies
Just catching up on the latest posts. Welcome to Phoenix, Cydz and so sorry to welcome you to this message board, but it's a very supportive and helpful place.
I left for Philadelphia two days after my drain was pulled. I was there for 6 days attending a workshop--and I made it through! I wish I could attend Saturday's meet at Sugarbowl, but my DH and I are finally going to get out of town before I have to go back to work on Monday. We are going up to the White Mountains for three days and hopefully escape the heat.
I hope to meet up with you sometime soon! When it gets cooler, I would love to go hiking with the group. I have been hiking in Phoenix and surrounding areas since 2005 and there are many wonderful trails from easy to challenging. I attribute hiking to my quick recovery from two major surgeries at the beginning and end of June.
ebann--congratulations to you on your committment and success in getting healthier!! It can be really hard to get started, but once you do it is very gratifying to see the results. As soon as my doctors tell me, I will be back at it too. I have been thinking of hiring a personal trainer to get started again. Can't wait!!
-
Speech; Sorry you are not able to make it to the Saturday get together. Though I understand the need to get away and enjoy the cool outdoors. I went up to Prescott to see my granddaughter and it was so nice. We look forward to meeting you on our next get together.
Kate: how are you doing?

I am soooo bummed. I will not be able to make it on Saturday. My mother in law just got back from Peru and is wanting the family to come over to her house on Saturday afternoon. So I guess I will have to wait until August to meet everyone.
