HI everyone,

I just got a pathology report back with T1 N0 but no results on HER2 status until next week. What should I know about this, where should I look? My surgeon says it will affect my decisions about chemo. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for this and for everything...everytime I post I'm blown away by this site!:)

Hi Sweeney - T1 N0 sounds good so far! The testing for Her2 takes longer - I saw my BS several times before she got the results. Your surgeon is right - the chemo decisions are based not only on size and grade of the tumor, but also the hormone and Her2 status. And there are targeted treatments for ER and PR+ and Herceptin for Her2+ in addition to chemo.

As soon as you have those results, you and your oncologist can plan the next stage of your treatment. Best wishes to you as you continue!

As your onc may tell you, HER2+ tumors are more aggressive than HER2- and are treated accordingly, but it looks as if yours was caught very early. Best of luck.
