    Laurie, this is Zumba: http://www.zumba.com/us/

I've never done it either.  The classes are pretty expensive out here.

    kari I love that link

My classes are a part of 24 hour fitness, so they are included with my membership. They also have Zumba toning which works with very small weights and tones you up.  I really like that one too.

I lifted weights today.  I would of done better but DD and DS were both calling me at will with random questions so I couldn't do any more.

Enjoy your Tuesday everyone, nothing good on TV so I guess I'll watch HGTV and find houses and remodeling  I can't afford.

Today it was too dang hot to walk outside, even after dinner, so I did 30 minutes on the eliptical and I sweated up a storm anyway!!! I cranked up the air when done!! I guess there is no help but to be hot and sweat.

Anyhow, sweating is supposed to detox us! So I imagine the gunk dripping out of me, lol!!

Gotta find that "biking in the pool" thing!!!

The squirrels here keep attacking my bird feeder. I now have the garden hose set up by the door - and it's set on power-wash. Bwa ha ha ha ha. I wonder how much exercise this is? Not much for me, but the squirrels are sure getting a work out, running up the trees!!!

Springtime I would love to see squirrels!  That reminds me in high school when my grandpa would feed them out of his hand in the winter.  (This was in Illinois)  At my office we have rabbits, I gave them a nice spring mix today for lunch, they ran away.  I have a hummingbird feeder that doesn't get used.  The birds at my house are pigeons, rats with wings, I do not like them.  Maybe one day I'll get a singing bird.

    Off to watch HGTV.

Have finally caught up on my reading and typed for a long time and lost ever bit of it so let's try again. DEANNA - did you get your results from the bloodwork and mamo back yet. I might have missed it.KARI-glad to see that your daughters are doing better and congrats on the grandchild. Wait till the 18th of January. that is a very good day!! MAURA- I've heard that curves is fun and fast paced. kmmd - hope you are feeling better too. Spring/summer is not the time to be sick. AINM- No back sliding. You made it this far. Take a deep breath and go for round two. You motivate us as much if not more that we motivate you.

Sally and Laurie - welcome to this group of cuties. Take each day at your own speed.

Meg - great to hear from you again. Don't stay away so long. Kitty good luck and take everything as you need to. We are here for you.

Harley and Spring - ya'll seem to be weathering the humidity and heat fine. I just want to stay in where it is cool. I am still walking the Dd in the mornings but have now started walking her after I get home from work at 11:30. It is still in the 80's but the sun isn't beating down on me. Need to get that "gunk" out.

My thyroid test came back funny and I am being sent to a specialist. All I want to do is sleep and not eat. Appetite is gone and my dog is loving the leftovers! At least I'm not losing any more weight but after two bites I'm done with a meal. That is sooo not me! I'll check in more often. My trip to VA was good. Not long enough. ((((hugs))))) to everyone. Sorry if I missed anyone.but I still luv ya. Nite.

3 miles walk then weight lifting.  Today will be trickier I work late then have company.  Tomorrow another long and early day.  By tomorrow night I won't be able to walk after being on my feet all day the last two days.  I'm just going to have to get in whatever 10 min I can the next couple of days

Joy, glad you are baaaack.... so I wonder if you are hypo thyroid? That is what I am. If they want to give you replacement hormone - ask for desecrated and not synthetic - that is my advice from someone who has done both and prefers the former!

    Great work out KMMD!

Joy, I will be sending an email soon concerning the Pink Ribbon Yoga retreat at the beach in Aug! I see your name on the list! :)  It will be great to meet you in person. I volunteered to try and do the carpool arrangements. I hope it works... we'll see!

    Joy,

Hope you are feeling better soon!!

I have Hashimotos Hypothyroidism, and I'm tired a lot.    Hope the specialist can help you.  When is your appt.?   I'll be thinking of you, and praying for you.

    Spring,

Hashimoto's  is AUTOIMMUNE hypothyroidism.  It happens when the body doesn't recognize the thyroid as part of your body.   Hashimoto must be the name of the guy who discovered it.

You haven't had any blood tests,  or been tested for anti bodies???

P.S.  I feel very strongly that auto immune disorders put us at increased risk for  breast cancer, because IF your body doesn't recognize your OWN thyroid, but yet....  it lets in CANCER....

I think that they need to research this more....

You will do just fine Kittycat. In my prayers too.

My appt is on the 24th. I have now started sleeping 9-10 hours a day. As hot as it is I don't plan on going outside. 94 today. I did go to the beach for a few hours. There was a breeze. Dd doesn't want to go out for any length of time. We walk in the morn and now walking after dark. Had a fox follow us the other night. Guess it wanted to play with Shadow.

Spring - looking forward to the retreat and meeting you. I'll keep the info in mind when I find out what is going on with me.

Wasn't it just a few months ago we were complaining about the cold?

Today pumped iron at the gym - this really helps the lymphedema! 2 miles on the treadmill in the cool gym. Yes, Joy, it is hot in NC! Humidity is coming back this weekend too. Oh Yay...

Still haven't had time to catch up on what I've missed here in the past week, but just wanted to stop by to say "Hi" to everyone and confess to eating waaay too much fabulous New Mexican food while I was away.  It seemed like every day I ate chili rellenos or blue corn enchiladas or something loaded with melted cheese.  And those baskets of warm sopapillas & honey kept appearing on the table at every meal, so of course I had to taste them so that I would know whose were the best!

So I managed to hit the gym tonight for the first time in a week, and I'm hoping it's not too hot to walk some in the a.m.

Definitely praying that you'll breeze through chemo, Kittycat!  Which chemo regimen are you doing?       Deanna

Deanna - I'm doing the AC/T regimen.  I ate ice chips and some red hots, when they were giving me the "red devil" Adriamycin.  The cold is supposed to prevent mouth sores.  I am hoping for little to no side effects for sure.

Thanks everyone for the kind words of encouragement!  When I got my Neulasta shot today, they told me I could have anywhere from minor to extreme bone pain - in as little as one hour to a few days later.  I drank a ton of water and went to the grocery store and walked all over that place (it's too hot to be outside here and walk).  Besides, I needed food for dinner.  I hope it helped!

Kittycat ~ The walking probably helped a lot.  Also, in case you haven't been told, Biotene mouthwash (available @ Target and most drugstores) is also good for preventing mouth sores.  And Claritin really helps to ward off that deep, throbbing bone pain from Neulasta.  (((Hugs))) Deanna

Glad you are doing so well Kittycat. I sucked on lemondrops so my taste buds would stay in tact for a while longer. 10-14 days from the "red devil" and the hair will fall out. Not to depress you but they don't tell you how fast it comes out. Took mine 2 weeks to start coming out. I got it shaved. Also drank ginger ale to help the nausea from occuring. I took the Neulasta shot in my stomach and it didn't hurt and never had the SE's from it. Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Deanna - educate me - what are sopapillas. Lived on the east coast too long.

Spring - I'm travleing with a friend from MHC to the retreat. Se has been to Trinity before and we are rooming together. Can't wait.

Everyone have a great weekend. I'm working nights. Also was told I need to go to visit my son in a few weeks when the girlfriend visits from Kansas again and meet my future DIL and 2 GDs. Hugs to all.

Joy ~ Sopapillas are a regional specialty in New Mexico.  They're a very simple fried dough -- not at all greasy, but very light and so delicious.  They're served both with meals (like bread or rolls), and also eaten after meals as a dessert with a bit of honey.  I tried to post a photo link, but they're all so long, they mess up the page.  But you can Google them if you're interested.  They look like puffy pillows of dough.    Deanna

    Hi everyone,

The other day, I got a letter from the FASTWEB, NSAFSA... or whatever it is...  anyway,  it says that I do NOT qualify for ANY scholarships or grants for my education.

    ....sigh...

I guess it just wasn't meant to be...

    Deanna is making me hungry!!

Kittycat, I also did AC/T and my first two times I got mouth sores but then heard about sucking on ice and IT WORKED!!! I also had Neulasta shots, and I never had any side effects from it. So you just never know. I exercised throughout as much as I could, even with a wig on and no hair under, and when my port drove me bats, I kept it up! Also during Rads, and I never got the "Rads fatigue" - the rads onc thought it was from the exercise. Maybe it detoxes? Not sure. I also worked half time through rads and rested more, that may be part of it too.

My hair fell out a few days after my second AC.My blood counts dropped bad after the third, but then after the 4th I was okay, and it was OOOOOOOOOOVER!!! The T was not nearly so bad for me. Had some body aches, that seemed to travel, it was so odd! But everything else was fine. Counts went back up!

It is WAY hot here in NC and I think it's either inside AC exercise or none today. It is brutal out! I was boiling just strolling in my garden and checking out the flowers and veggies!!

Joy, YES I see you on the list as rooming with your friend. Did you get my Car-pool email? I am new to gmail and I think it went through! ahhck!

Checking in...Finally!  Works been KOOKOO or Kooky as Springie says! heehee

Kitty, sending you the best positive vibes (PV's) for an uneventful chemo.  I had the AC/T also.  The other gals said it well, so I'll spare you my $.02, lucky you ;)

I think the east coast got that ultra hot weather we had last weekend, but then poof, Monday it turned absolutely gorgeous, and I'm loving every minute of it, while it lasts.  Had mammo and more blood work yesterday...all is looking good.  OH, and my acupuncturist told me to take Milk Thistle (cleanses liver from chemo) and Sam-E (tissue regeneration), because one of my liver tests (AST) was slightly higher (high normal is 36 and mine is 40, was 44 last month), but all other blood work (they took 4 huge vials) looks great.

Been trying to walk when I can, last night DD came over with her doggies and we walked, well more like strolled, my DD was tuckered out...this pregnancy thing is making her sleepy and craving lots of mexican food!

Deanna, welcome back / Harley, bummer about the $$ for school / Joy, what's up with your thyroid woman?  shoot... / kmmd, hope your tootsies feel better after the soak and workout!

Spring, Deanna is making me hungry too!!

I finally got my YMCA membership so I'm going to start water arobics.  Does anyone know of a PT place in Snohomish county that excepts Medicare/Medicade for payment.  I've developed a slight case of Lymphedema

Laurie, sorry about the lymphedema.  You're right to get treatment right away.  It really does help.  I have to deal with it, but it doesn't keep me from doing anything that I want to do.

Harley, so sorry to hear that. I had to google it, this is what I found.  FAFSA is:  Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/what011.htm      I'm sure you already found it, but, I did copy these links I found  for ideas for other types of aid to find.   http://www.socialworkprograms.org/financial-aid-for-going-back-to-school.html#more-139

    http://blog.studentloannetwork.com/fafsa/dependent-vs-independent-status/

I just hate to have this be the end of your search since you've wanted this so badly

    kmmd,

I guess it just wasn't meant to be.   I'm feeling kind of bummed about everything lately.

Yesterday was not a good day at work.  The boss said :   You should plan your dr appts on your days off.

BUT, I have NEVER had any SET schedule since I started working there over a year ago.   She was upset because  my onc. called and wants to see me on Monday.  I had some questions, and concerns, because AFTER I saw him on 6/11,  I had some horrible pain and cramp in the left underarm, where they took out the lymph nodes, and my back has been really stiff and sore all week long.

I think it's time to cut the cord.  Besides, I have a lot to do, getting my Strides fundraiser organized. When I'm working, I don't have the time.

Hope everyone has a terrific weekend!

    Harley
