Went to the doc on Thursday. They took 6 vials of blood so now I wait again. Told to eat ice cream and make smoothies. What they don't understand is I don't want to eat so what is going to make me eat these things. Found a dog with three pups today when Dd and I was walking. Called the animal control and went back and found the pups and mom and we even reunited them with the owner and another pup. She has been missing for over 2 weeks. Happy ending anyway. Very hot and humid again today. At least it rained during the night. Have a great weekend.

Why did your dh say that maybe you shouldn't do this anymore.... was he talking about running?
I am confused.... dosen't take much... chemo brain...
Harley
-
Harley, hear yeah on the chemo brain! DH was talking about working. He's tired of seeing me sick and tired. I have some vacation time coming up and we have a lot of soul searching to do. I'm not ready to give up my career, but we are miserable with the hours I've been putting in
-
I walked 4 miles today. I left the house at 7 and was dying by 8. It is some kind of hot in Vegas!
Enjoy the weekend! diane
-
Not as hot here as some of you are getting it, but we're pretty warm and humid. Some lifting in and getting ready to get some walking in. Life feels more under control today

I understand about the hours... and when I moved here, I thought I would be able to do the kind of work I am used to doing.... in an office, just receptionist, that kind of thing. But... NO... there are NO office jobs to be found here.... so I am stuck doing retail sales work, standing on my feet all day, for minimum wage... it really isn't worth it.
I told my boss TWICE that I am quitting.... she purposely misunderstood... said she thought I needed to have a few days off to "rest"... that is NOT what I said. So I am frustrated. For now, at least it's 'spending money', and I may work there thru Sept 1st, BUT.... no longer..... also, I told the boss that 'in August, I have some family coming down to visit and I need a WEEK OFF...so if she gets mad, then THAT will be IT... I am taking the week off no matter WHAT....
I'm so tired... I had to work today and NEXT WEEK, will be the week from HELL... because it's JULY 4th weekend, I am scheduled to work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, FRIDAY, AND Saturday.... I do not like it, but ... I will do it. Knowing that I am either quitting Sept. 1st, or earlier somehow makes it not seem as bad.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Well DH and I went out for a walk, nice Sunday walk, turned into a power walk. About the time we reached the far point where we turn around the tornado sirens went off, then the thunder and lightening rolled in. We hit back home right before it really hit. We walked FAST. So it was shorter but still a good work out!
Thanks Harley. Sounds like your boss really doesn't want to let you go. I have no doubt you're a good worker so I'm sure she was sad to hear you were serious about leaving

I LOVE power walks!! but, my DH doesn't like to walk with me, since he says that he looks 'like a tool' when he power walks....
We are getting storms moving in here.... Mostly just thunder and some lightning, though.
Hugs to you....

Hi All! We went to Asheville and MOntreat NC to visit my older daughter who is working there. Thought we would escape the heat but NO!!! It was in the upper 90s and we broiled! Found out I am in pretty good shape though, could do all the walking and climbing even in the heat, so it does pay off for your leisure time! ha! The car dash registered 101-103 degrees out on the way home! Cars were dead on the side of the road. Just too hot I think!
-
I hear ya, Diane! Ditto here today. The excessive heat is why I'm up early and about to head out to walk now. I did 3.9 miles on Friday, 2.36 on Sunday, and also spent about an hour at the athletic club late yesterday afternoon, when it was really sizzling here.
Have a great week everyone, and try to stay cool wherever you are ~ Deanna
P.S. ~ Got in 6 miles this a.m. -- before the real heat hits.
-
6 miles! Deanna! That is FAB, you are my role model!
Last night I went to the gym and did my pumping iron lymph round and 2 miles on the treadmill. I left at 9PM and it was 96 degrees out!!!!!!!! Felt like soup!!!
I may go to Yoga tonight and tomorrow. There are some classes I'll be missing in July due to vacations...
-
Well all you ladies are so inspiring but my month at curves is over I hope to join in August after the wedding for my son or the 1st of august but I have been so busy trying to get my hair on a path of growth if you remeber me I had Taxotore 2 years ago and still dont have my hair back so a hair dresser colored it with no problem its never been colored before but it was the saddest brown maybe as it grows my pretty brown will come back not a gray hair though just not allot of hair at all. I have to put brown Topika on my scalp so I can go hatless and I will have to purchase a wig for my sons pictures of his wedding but I still have allot of hope for it its just being stuborn, you name it I use it or have tried it so this has kept me from curves the last week and half just been worn out from dealing with non hair.. I will be back though after vacation and getting my nipple on next week keep it up girls your great..
Maura
-
Seriously, I was pushing to do 3 miles today. (to give me credit a decent couple of hills in there).
Maura, I hope things work out. If I could give you some of my hair I would
-
Today 90 minute yoga, but it was the gentle class. tomorrow, 'warrior woman yoga'!! Work is so kooky I needed 2 yogas this week!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....
-
Spring, I like that, measure the craziness of the work week by how much yoga we need. So far I'm having a 2 yoga week too
-
Managed to walk 6 miles this a.m. It was HOT!!! (It's supposed to hit 111 later today). I didn't walk or do anything yesterday because I had an early app't. Walking on a treadmill bores me to tears compared to walking outdoors, so as long as I can get out while there's still a bit of shade here and there and even a slight breeze, I'm going to try to stick with it because I'm afraid I'll turn into a blob if I don't. D.
-
6 miles. how long does that take you Deanna?
-
Spring, it takes me about an hour + 20 mins. With the exception of one hill, it's pretty flat. D.
-
Looks like I'm the only one with such a boring life that I have time to post this week. So I did 4.0 miles this a.m. in 50 mins. Way too hot to do anymore... I hope everyone's busy & having fun... maybe even out of town already for some extra long holiday R&R... D.
-
I am finally checking in - its been almost a week! yikes!! Had a big presentation I had to put together and finished yesterday late afternoon. I've been exhausted all week and it was a cooker so not much sleep. But cooler now and work is not KOOKY anymore! heehee
Been walking and doing some dumbbells, I had to go back to the chiropractor, as I was really out of whack, feels so much better now! feels like friday already, but its only Thursday morning...sigh
Happy July 1st! The year is half gone! wow
-
Today is my last work day for the school year!!!! i am so ready for vacation. I will be in and out of town the next couple of weeks, going college shopping with my daughter. I hope my hotels have exercise rooms with the wonderful torture machines.
Supposed to be 108 today, there goes the electric bill! diane
-
Deanna, Holy Cow. We did 3 miles in 50 yesterday and felt like we were working it.
Will get a walk in today. Trying to make up my mind if I'll do a little yoga, or a little weightlifting in addition. Short day at work (something I don't often say), so Im looking forward to getting a lot of exercise in
-
VACATION!!!! Off to Zumba this morning and then lunch.
Supposed to go hiking on the 4th, up the mountain, eat, drink wine, and watch the fireworks, but sadly there if a big fire. I hope they get it contained before too much damage.
If I don't post agin this weekend, have a great one! Stay cool and Happy Independence Day!

Deanna, are you jogging?? 4 miles in 50 minutes (and 6 in 1 hour 20) is VERY VERY FAST!!! You must be nearly running/jogging!!! Holy Cow!
It is WONDERFUL weather in NC. the humidity is gone for a few days and it was in the 70's and lovely today!!! It will last for a few more days. I can't wait to get out in the garden!!!
I did the gym tonight (all the weight machines) and then walked 2 miles on the treadmill. No exercise last night, I was pooped and gave myself a night off. !!
-
Funny...on our walk this a.m. I was telling my DH how many miles Deanna and Diane put in - and in the DESERT heat!! I am like 'how do they do that'? haha yeah Deanna you must be BOOKIN!!! there has to be smoke coming off your shoes! haha you ladies ROCK and I admire you!
I used my 5 lb weights the other night, haven't done that in years! We are headed to a BBQ and an overnighter at my SIL's property, I love it there!
Happy 4th all, let's eat drink and be merry! heehee
smooches xo

I am back from my trip to see my son. It was a very interesting two days. The girlfriend from Kansas City was in with her two girls and now all three of them are wearing diamonds from my son. So I now have a future DIL and 2 Grandkids (6 & 8) !st time I have met them. The kids even stayed with me on Tuesday night at the motel. We had fun and got up and had pancakes for b'fast and then walked on the beach before going back to my son's. Then all of us went to the pool. After 3 1/2 hours at the pool I had to leave to come home. Saw my first waterspout too.
My blood test came back and my sugar is elevated. No Joke!! I was told to eat cookies, ice cream and sweets to keep my weight on and now the sugar is high. DUH!!! I now have to go for a 3 hour glucose test on Tuesday. I can't win. Will let you know how it goes.
Glad to see there are a few live hards with this heat. Humidity finally is gone and even had the doors open this morning. But that won't last long. I finally got the yard almost mowed. I'll finish up hopefully on Monday. It won't take me long. If I could just not feel so tired. Hope all have a great 4th. Where is Ainm?
-
Joy, that sounds lovely!!! Instant Grandchildren!!! Woo! LOL about the sugar!!! For pete SAKES!!
Kari, YES , Deanna must have smoke coming out of her sneakers!
Today DH and I walked 4.5 miles, but not at Deanna's pace. ha!!
-
Joy that sounds like a great vacation. The beach sounds wonderful, wish I was in San Diego right now just looking at the ocean. Congrats on the grandchildren.
Deanna you keep waling girl!
I walked 8 miles yesterday and then came home, took a shower and took a nap. I just love weekends! We are still hopeful to hike today, depends if the trail is open and the smoke from the fire. Happy 4th everyone!!!
